Is there a clean version of "enshittification"?

Wiki suggests "platform decay" but that seems more specific to software rather than an overarching theme of diminishing quality.

Edited to provide context: I think it's an important concept when discussing disposable culture and its various issues with my kids. Although I do swear around them, I don't like providing my kids with swearwords to use.

Versions that just replace "shit" with a synonym isn't really what I'm looking for, slop is probably the closest, although it doesn't really include the intention behind it is more than laziness. Deliberate obsolescence is close, too. But enshittification is just right, isn't it?

How are you building up maths skills (primary)

I have an 8 and 4yo. Eldest is smashing reading and arts (history, art, etc) but her enthusiasm isnt paying off quite as well in mathy subjects. I'm aware that I'm a bookworm who loves history and travel and art, so there's lots of ways these come up and get discussed and encouraged and practiced at home. I struggle with how to link math in more, other than playing dice and card games and the occasional recipe. It's not like we even use cash anymore.

The six times tables just dont come up in my day to day life, you know?

So any ideas on how we can use math in everyday ways?

Looking for this vibe/level of intensity

Slow burn enemies to lovers, both are completely inept at their jobs and burn through vast reserves of public funding in pointless competition with each other, then go home each evening- he to his literal lair where he rage wanks over her while inventing gizmos for his cats, she to her home to fuss over her pet chicken and outsource every issue (from football contests to an actual meteor) to the town's child kennel-master. Unsure if she has enough thoughts in her head to think about him.

The chicken is quite possibly an evil mastermind.

Between them and in the background is Rider - a 10 year old boy and goodways willing lackey, and Rocky, a dog who can talk and somehow use tools.)

"Don't talk about her like that" feral MMC vibes

Looking for a book with a scene where MMC overhears people talk shit about FMC, either because people don't realise that they have an association (or that he cares) or just genuinely overhears, etc. Sleazy comments/talking down avout her/whatever. And he loses it, goes a bit feral, either physically or with his words or actions. Ideally he's still in denial about his feelings and immediately tries to justify his actions, being all "good job i didn't overreact, whilst 19999% overreacting.

Most genres accepted, no mafia please, also no dub/non con or RH.

Also, im sure ive read an hr where she did this after hearing him being dissed, if anyone could remind of the title that would be appreciated, thanks!

Kids books with movie adaptation (8 year old reader)

I'm doing a reading challenge with my 8 year old daughter over the summer/next few months. I've seen a book vs film challenge which I think would be fun, but I'd like as many suggestions as possible, especially more recent books. I'll be reading with her, so books need to be engaging, but can challenge a yr3 reader. We're UK based, so bonus points for UK or Irish authors/books.

So far I have:

* The Borrowers (started tonight)

* Matilda/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (will probably only do one for now)

* Howls Moving Castle

* Wild Robot

* The Secret Garden/The Little Princess (both the books and movies of these are super old, so would probably only do one)

* Diary of a Wimpy Kid (I'm not as excited by this, to be honest!)

* Hilda and the Mountain King

I might also throw in a Grimms fairytale with a couple movie adaptations, e.g. Cinderella.

[WP] You've long suspected that there was a parasite in the hospital, feeding on people's energy. Today you get confirmation - along with the fact that it siphons spare energy to give to those who most need it.

ISO: Nice, lightweight, waterproof, packable jacket (uk)

I'm looking for a properly waterproof (ie with taped seams) jacket that I can have shoved in a tote bag along with the kids' ones for inevitable rainshowers. I have one from trespass which a)doesn't feel properly waterproof (but it's secondhand so may have worn off?) And b) isn't flattering on my shorter, hourglass body.

I don't want anything fully lined as it'll take up more space so I'll be less likely to bring just in case.

So lightweight, waterproof, ideally cut with a waist, available in the UK and not horrifically expensive!

Podcast reccs for 3(going into yr 4) child? Do CBBC have any?

I'd like to listen to more podcasts with my daughter. We enjoy watching Jet Lag The Game, Newsround, and some history YouTubes. She currently gets Phoenix magazine and enjoys gymnastics, dance, and crafts. In all, a typical 8yo with a bit of a nerdy mum.

We haven't loved Story Pirates or other storytelling podcasts (and tbf we read lots and I don't like audiobooks either.) We tried This Week Junior podcast this evening and she liked the magazine format of different topics. Is there anything else like that?

Puberty book recommendations?

Daughter has just turned 8 and I want to introduce more info about puberty. She is a good reader so I'd like a decent factual puberty book that can also be used by my son when he's that age. Any reccs?

I'm not interested in an anti-trans or pro-purity message, I just want my kids to have a resource other than their parents to understand what will br happening to their and their friends bodies over the next 7+ years...

(For clarity, both are raging stereotypes of their gender but they have a Trans auntie and you never know what friends they'll have and I'd like our family culture to always be inclusive)

Has anyone created a DIY version for their family?

I had an idea to do a local version of this with the family over the summer holidays (Race Across the Toon) but there seems to be no such thing as a print version of a bus, metro, train, etc timetable!

Has anyone created their own version at all? I know there are some providers offering a version for team building days in big cities, but my kids are still in primary school and money is tight, so we are not their target market.

Mate/true love like A Kinda Fairytale series by Cassandra Gannon

The Kinda Fairytale (WUBCLUB) series is bizarre in all the best ways, but also people are born either Good or Bad. They also have a predestined One True Love. One of the markers of Bad folk is that they can tell who their True Love is on sight, whereas Good folk can only tell once they have sex.

Part if the premise is that a lot of the characters aren't full Good or Bad so you may have a Bad character absolutely feral over someone Good, and paranoid that they'll not want someone Bad, whilst the Good person will be scheming away to prevent the Bad person from getting away and finding their One True Love.

Basically, I want a one sided mating bond where they dont tell the other that their mated but they're both scheming to keep the other, whilst keeping the other in the dark.

I've probably made it sound excessively complicated. It's late, I'm on holiday, and the Gannon sisters just are not prolific enough for me.
