My 5-month-old female cat ran away during the day.

We also have another neutered male cat (2 years old) at home.

They were getting along well, but then suddenly, a 5-month-old female cat ran away.

Is there any chance she will come back?

There are many sugarcane fields around our house.

I get two spam calls a day.

I receive calls from truly all kinds of places. Not only Mauritius, but also India, Bangladesh...

The bigger problem is that once these people add my contacts to their WhatsApp,

they can see my name and face.

After that, they send me text messages via WhatsApp.

How can I resolve all this inconvenience?

Thank God. I live in Cape Town.

Looking at the posts here, there are many complaints and criticisms about Cape Town and South Africa, but...

Well.

  1. Living in South Africa means living in the country with the lowest grocery prices in the world. Go to Pick 'n' Pay. And go to Marks & Spencer in the UK.

We can always buy milk, flour, eggs, and cheese cheaply.

  1. Cape Town and South Africa have almost no natural disasters. There are no cyclones or earthquakes here.

  2. The weather in Cape Town is fantastic. Of course, Johannesburg is the best. For someone like me who hates hot weather, the weather in Cape Town is the best.

I don't have air conditioning, and I don't even have a fan.

I have a fireplace, but I hardly use it.

Go to London. It's a terrible winter. It snows, too.

  1. Go to residential areas, especially the suburbs, rather than tourist spots. The houses are spacious. If you go to Mauritius, where South Africans often migrate these days, you have to live in a house that is less than one-third the size of that one.

  2. South Africa's low wages are a major disadvantage, but they are also an advantage. Many people hire nannies and cleaners at affordable prices, and many companies from around the world invest in Cape Town.

  3. South Africa is the wealthiest country in Africa, and Cape Town is the best among them.

  4. That's right. There is no malaria in Cape Town.

  5. Cape Town has the best universities in Africa and boasts the most beautiful natural environment in the world.

You can see penguins just a 30-minute drive away. It's fantastic, isn't it?

  1. Public transportation, electricity, and the internet are all cheap. When I went to Vancouver, Canada, all of these things were more than three times as expensive. Not twice, but three times.

  2. I often go to the steakhouse in Seapoint. Then, during my last vacation, I went to New York, and it was literally ten times more expensive.

Let's look at the good side of Cape Town. I am always thankful to God.

What is the best Italian restaurant in Mauritius?

Over the past six years, I have also visited famous pizzerias and Italian restaurants in Mauritius. Some were located in hotels, while others were in tourist areas.

The pizzeria I used to frequent has recently closed down.

If you recommend any pizzerias or Italian restaurants you know of, I will try to visit them all personally multiple times by the end of the year and leave proper reviews and rankings here. Please give me some recommendations.

-------

The reason I am asking for a recommendation for an Italian restaurant rather than a French one is

Recently, I visited La Clef des Champs, which has relocated to Curepipe.

I was extremely disappointed. The food was tasteless and lacked any distinctive character. — The staff were very friendly, though.

So, I decided to give up on my expectations of eating good French food in Mauritius.

I told him/her I didn't want to meet.

However, He/she call me frequently and make video calls.

Where should I report this?

The problem is, I don't know his/her name. I only know his/her phone number.

Have you ever had your guitar ruined by humid weather?

I live on the island nation of Mauritius.

I live in the central region, and it rains here roughly every day.

Seriously, it rains every single day.

The sunny weather is on the coast, but it's humid and hot there, so I live in the central region. It's humid here, but it's cool.

I've been using a plywood guitar.

Honestly, I thought the sound was a bit muffled, but I didn't know if it was because of the humidity or my terrible playing skills, so I just kept playing.

However, I'm going on vacation abroad next month,

and I plan to buy an all-solid or top-solid guitar.

(There are guitar shops here, but they don't have much stock and are incredibly expensive.)

But I'm not sure if the guitar will be okay in this kind of humid weather (roughly 75% indoor humidity when it rains) or in a place where the humidity is around 50% when it's not raining.

What are your experiences?

Can a guitar really get ruined if it's too humid or too dry?

Mauritius Chinese Restaurant 2026 Star Rating

  1. Over the past five years, I have literally visited most of the Chinese restaurants in Mauritius.

I have been active as a food critic for over 20 years, during which I have experienced a diverse range of Chinese cuisine in China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as visited various Chinese restaurants in the United States, South Africa, and France. I have also consulted with Chinese restaurants outside of China to identify issues regarding taste, interior design, and service.

(If you are operating a Mauritian-style Chinese restaurant, I will provide a free consultation, because I do not want Mauritian-style Chinese restaurants to disappear.)

Chinese cuisine in Mauritius is broadly divided into two categories:

  1. Mauritian-style Chinese cuisine (Hakka..etc..)
  2. Authentic Chinese cuisine - Cantonese, Beijing, and Sichuan styles; while diverse, Cantonese style is generally more common.

3.. Over the past five years, a significant number of Mauritian-style Chinese restaurants in Port Louis have They have closed down or changed into authentic Chinese restaurants—as a lover of Mauritian style-Chinese cuisine in Mauritius, this is a regrettable situation.

I particularly love Hakka-style Chinese food.

  1. I have visited several Chinese restaurants in hotels in Mauritius (e.g., Hilton), but none of them offered good value for the price.

  2. While "taste" is subjective, "bad taste" is objective.

Honestly, I don't want to reveal my list of favorite restaurants and want to keep them to myself. However, I have received a lot of help from friends here over the past six years, and now I want to give back.

Now, I will share my list of favorite restaurants.

As I mentioned above, I have actually visited most of the Chinese restaurants in Mauritius, but I have excluded all places that lacked distinctive flavor. If you ask in the comments, I will respond with a star rating.

★★★★★ Excellent, I want to go every day

Dumpling & noodles house 餃子麵館- Grand baie

The dumplings at this place are It's number 1 in Mauritius, the noodles are excellent, be sure to try the noodle soup.

★★★★ Excellent, I want to go often

Hunan Restaurant,Curepipe
This place offers the best value for money among Chinese restaurants in Mauritius, and it is a place where you can enjoy authentic Hunan-style Chinese cuisine.

It is a hidden gem for me.

The only downside is that the quality of the fried rice varies every time I order...

Moy Yuan Restaurant, Beau Bassin-Rose Hill

You can eat Mauritian-style Chinese food,

The owner is friendly and the food is delicious.

port dumpling snack东北饺子馆

The Chinese owner makes authentic Chinese food, making you feel like you are traveling in China.

DUAN, Casaville

Almost the only place in Mauritius where you can eat Beijing-style Chinese food

The owner is friendly.

Moy Zhou Restaurant

Whenever I go to Port Louis, I only go to this restaurant; the owner is friendly, and you can eat Mauritian-style Chinese food. The fried dishes are excellent.

WEI YANG Restaurant - Domaine Les Pailles

★★★ Delicious, worth every penny

Fortune 8 Restaurant, Port Louis

I used to be a regular for a long time, but I stopped going because the owner was unfriendly. You can eat Hakka cuisine.

One of the Chinese restaurants in Port Louis that is still thriving.

Chinese Wok Restaurant, Curepipe

Except for the Peking Duck, all the dishes at this place are mediocre.

Nine Dragons Restaurant - Honestly, the dim sum here is delicious, but the other dishes are just average.

House of Canton - All the dishes are reasonably tasty.

Kirin Restaurant

Grand Canton Restaurant

Little Sichuan Xiao Sichuan

The City Orient Restaurant

Lao Zhao Hotpot Restaurant / 老赵火锅 Mauritius

★★ It was really disappointing.

Treasures, Floreal - Currently temporalry closed.

I was quite shocked when I first went to this restaurant. The prices are high, but every dish was tasteless; like the chef ran away, and I had to go to the kitchen to ask if the waiters were cooking.

Opium Restaurant - The seasoning and exterior are fancy, but honestly, the food is tasteless. The seasoning is off for every dish. I visit this place periodically for business, and the quality of the food seems to be getting worse every time I go.

Red Phoenix Restaurant

Restaurant Lai Min

Golden Hong Kong Palace

Royal Choice Restaurant

★ Tasteless. No intention of going back.

Chuan Restaurant (川餐厅)-All the dishes at this restaurant look great, but they all taste terrible.

Wei Yang Hot Pot 未央自助火锅-If you go on a weekday, there aren't many options for hot pot, and sometimes there are more dark entities (I won't say what they are) than customers.

Restaurant Canton-The food at this restaurant isn't bad, but I wish they would pay a little more attention to hygiene.

This restaurant proves my hypothesis that there are no good restaurants in tourist areas to be true.

----

Of course, I have visited Chinese restaurants and snack in Rose Hill, Quatre Bone, Curepipe, etc.,

But the names of all the shops I don't remember

You must keep this in mind when eating delicious Chinese food in Mauritius:

  1. Generally,There are no good Chinese restaurants in the north.
  2. Generally,There are no good Chinese restaurants in the west.
  3. Generally,Most hotel Chinese restaurants are expensive, but the taste is not very good.

---

I will update the above ranking of the best Chinese restaurants in Mauritius for 2026 whenever I remember.

---

I am learning a lot from your comments as well.I have been a professional food critic for over 10 years, critiquing food in magazines and on the radio.

Since I am not making money from this, I have no intention of promoting it.

My intention is simple: I love Mauritian food, and I want to share my knowledge with you.

Also, as a chef, as far as I know, I am almost the only person in Mauritius who can cook Japanese-style sushi rice. (Most Japanese restaurants in hotels in Mauritius also cook rice in the Briayni style.)

I am one of the few people in Mauritius with an understanding of Beijing-style Chinese cuisine.

Isn't that enough?

--------

Just so you know, when I go to Chinese restaurants, sometimes I go alone, and other times I go with my Sino-Mauritian friends.

The taste of the food is the most important thing, and after that, friendliness, hygiene, atmosphere, and value for money are also important.

The reason I don't rate Opium highly is the difference in taste between weekdays and weekends, the excessive use of seasonings, and various other reasons.

I also frequently visit Mauritian-style Chinese restaurants like Ah-Soo Snack.

I just avoid places that use excessive sugar for the sake of my health.

I have experienced a wide variety of places, from local Mauritian noodle shops (like Mine Bouille) to places like Ming Court at the Sofitel. (The Hilton Hotel mentioned above no longer has a Chinese restaurant.)

If you guys respond positively, I would also like to share my opinion on hotel restaurants in Mauritius.

-----------

In my first year in Mauritius, I had to commute to Port Louis, and that year I visited every Chinese restaurant in the city.

I saw many old Mauritian-style Chinese restaurants struggling to stay afloat and closing down. It was a sad sight to watch.

On the other hand, new, authentic Chinese restaurants began to spring up.

If any of you have a favorite Chinese restaurant, please show them this post and ask me for free consulting.

I literally love and respect all Mauritian-style Chinese restaurants, and I am willing to help them.

As far as I know, among the foreign cuisines available in Mauritius, Chinese food is the closest to the authentic taste.

Of course, many Indians make Indian food, but my Indian friends don't seem to like the taste.

Here, Korean food doesn't taste Korean at all, and while Japanese food looks like Japanese food, it doesn't taste like Japanese food.

What about Italian food? I'll have a chance to talk about that later.

What is the best mini guitar for the price?

Lately, I've been going to the beach in Mauritius quite often.

I want to play alone at the beach, but

it's a hassle to fit a full-size guitar into the trunk of my small car every time. Above all, I'm worried that my guitar might get damaged by the sea breeze, humidity, and hot weather.

What mini guitars are there that are

  1. easy to maintain,
  2. sound good, and
  3. offer great value for the price?

Please give me some strong recommendations.

Ah. I occasionally play accompaniment for the local church's praise team by connecting a pickup to my guitar.

Where can I get my shoe soles replaced?

https://preview.redd.it/akdcn7pktb0h1.png?width=2048&format=png&auto=webp&s=623bfafbf509af7afeb4219fb3f0518d80917d93

The sole of one of my shoes is ruined due to hydrolysis.

It isn't an expensive brand, but since it was a gift from someone special, I would like to have the sole replaced.

Aside from Port Louis, where should I go? I am looking for a place close to Phoneix.

Also, how much should I expect to pay?
