Aviator 900 ANC Popularity

I recently learned about the Aviator 900 ANC when researching Mimi sound personalization enabled over ear headphones and I got one and I am absolutely loving it! The Mimi sound personalization makes a huge difference to music listening, the THX EQ profiles and THX spatial as well and for entertainment in general, all baked into them. They also have ANC and sidetone for utility, and the only weaknesses I can really think of is them not supporting some lossles bt codecs and not working in active mode when wired. Overall I think these hedphones are great for listening to music and entertainment in general and I don't know why they are not more popular tbh ...

Some people praise expensive or particular brands/models of headphones that don't have many or any of the features the aviator has and usually suggest custom EQing your headphones, but really, how amazing can any hardware be if it's sound is not customized to your hearing and how could someone really eq their own headphones correctly without measuring equipment and/or sound engineering knowledge and experience ? Autoeq is good to try but it's hit or miss most of the time and even if the eq might sound good at that time, until you compare with other headphones/tunings and professionally made eq profiles for your particular headphones or your own ears, you won't know how good it really is or what you are missing out on ...

So imo, the aviator 900 ANC having mimi sound personalization, THX EQ profiles, THX spatial sound, ANC and sidetone, while also sounding great(no complaints here) seems like it should be getting a lot more attention.

Melomania P100SE EQ

The P100SE. I would put this as one of the most capable headphones if not the most capable, hardware wise, I have ever owned but at the same time the most difficult to listen to.

It’s the punishing sub-bass on every pre-defined eq preset, even on Blues, that makes listening to this on certain bass heavy songs like the song Bullshit by Matroda, KLP, eardrum torture and a headache waiting to happen…

So I have been spending time here and there trying to find some Melomania App EQ settings that fix this and I believe I may have found it.

To get an idea of how each eq slider affects the frequency response, I used the https://www.pragmaticaudio.com/headphones/ headphone measurements and the initial idea was to lower the sub-bass to minimum. Looking at the Min SubBass EQ measurement, setting the first slider to minimum achieves this. Unfortunately, now some
instruments and cymbals felt more recessed than before. Looking at the Max UpMid EQ measurements, I raised the fifth slider to max and this did seem to fix the recessed mids issue but now I felt cymbals were too harsh sounding. Looking at the Min UpTreble EQ, it seems setting the seventh and last melomania app eq slider to minimum does reduce the presence region significantly and to my ears, this does fix the harshness’s issue.

So there it, my sub-bass woes with this headphone and the eq that works best for me, so far, after owning it for months and struggling with it, is first slider to minimum, fifth to maximum and seventh to minimum. Please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and preferred eq settings or eq methods for this headphone. Thanks.

Aurvana Ace 3 hearing test based Sound Personalization is awesome!

I got the aurvana ace 3 to try xmems and was blown away by the hearing test based sound personalization! It has made the biggest difference in sound quality and has enhanced my music listening experience more than any eq or dsp! It’s unbelievable how songs that I used to listen to when I was younger, like Dark Tranquility Monochromatic Stains that these days sounded faded, washy, like they had been poorly mastered now sound incredibly good with personalization on. I feel like I’m back in my teens listening to Rammstein’s Sehnsucht album for the first time… absolutely amazing.

Also for context, I have taken several iphone airpods pro 2 hearing tests, recently and they always say hearing aid is not required/recommended so I don’t know why creative’s test does find things to improve but the result is astonishing…

So if you are someone that has the same issues and keeps thinking it’s the hardware or the eq/software, it might just be your ears and you may benefit from this sound personalization feature these buds have to offer.

SXFI AMP - Why not make these anymore ?

I just got a seriously pre-loved SXFI usb-c amp, the one discontinued in 2021 or so, and it’s amazing! I have other recent usbc hires dongles but this SXFI one makes my AKG K371 come to life like never before! Playing music on Tidal with volume normalization on my Moto edge 60 neo and it’s booming!

I don’t know why Creative discontinued this product couse in the current hifi hires usbc dongle market, especially since DSP dongles are rare even today or costly and usually don’t offer anything as impactful as sxfi.

I think a new version of this one would be very popular especially since it will work with any player app and with any app level DSP including volume normalization which the SXFI mobile app can’t do unless you use a dsp app that attaches to the Android mixer …

I would 1000% buy a new version of this dongle for smartphones today! Anyone else think this is an awesome sounding device even in 2026 ?

SXFI Mobile App Issues

I recently bought an aurvana ace 3 and wanted to try the sxfi app and immediately hit a roadblock on iphone and an annoying issue on Android that made me uninstall the app on all phones since it’s basically unusable…

On iPhone 14 , I simply cannot get it to see any any music files. I have tried using itunes file sharing and drag and drop onto the app icon with aac, m4p mp3 and flac files but the app doesn’t see any of them and I cannot find any local dir where it might store them. Also tried downloading bought music from qobuz straight to the phone but still nothing… I wonder how creative’s testing team tests this app since it’s only supposed to work with local files…

On Android , I have 2 phones both motorola, a g56 and an edge 60 neo and in both of them the volume goes down to 60% every time I go to the now playing screen, the one that has the playback progress bar and the volume and eq buttons. Every time I go to this view or simply click the volume icon without adjusting the volume bar, it drops in volume until about 60%. I have tried everything I could find online but no dice, dolby off, permissions, battery management, etc… it always happens and only on this app… every other music player works fine…

Wondering if others are facing issues like this and if anyone knows a way to get it to see local music files on iphone or fix the volume issue on Android…

Thanks

Melomania App shares A100 and P100SE EQ Presets

Hi, I have both the A100 and P100SE and there’s an annoying issue with the Melomania App where if I create a custom EQ for the P100SE it will appear in the EQ list even when the A100 is connected and the P100SE is disconnected. Even worse sometimes it seems the A100 has the previously used P100SE preset selected which obviously won’t sound the same and I have to switch to one of the default ones myself. Is this a known bug ? Thanks

What does Hi-Res certification mean ?

Hi, some phones like the poco x8 pro have ‘Hi-Res & Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, Dolby Atmos’ mentioned in their specs under Audio Playback and I’d like to know what the non wireless Hi-Res part means.

Does it bypass the Android 16bit 48khz resampling like a DAP does to play up to 24bit 192khz via it’s usb-c port without needing an app like Usb Audio Player to override it and connect directly to a USB Dongle DAC ?

If I connect a headphone that has it’s own DAC and can play audio via usb-c to usb-c cable like the Cambridge Audio Melomania P100SE and play some 24bit 192khz track, will it get downsampled to 16bit 48khz or not ?

If someone knows more about this, please share because I’m considering getting one of these Hi-Res enabled phones to primarily listen to music hi-res music through usb-c, thanks

A100 Shuts Down during playback

Hi, I have an issue with my A100. It has happened to me a couple of times now where it seems to shut down during playback or call.

After it shut down during a call previously, I turned off Auto Power Off by setting it to never and didn't have any issues anymore until I re-enabled it as a test.

Steps to reproduce:

- It was already on and Auto Shut Down set to never

- I set it to shut down in 30min

- Started a timer for 30 min and after continuously playing for some time it suddenly shut down.

- When I checked the timer it had 20 seconds left on the clock, likely because it took me a few seconds to find the timer and set it.

Has anyone had this issue ? If it is a bug it would be nice to have it fixed because I love the sound of it and it's my daily driver. Thanks.
