Wait Time Data - Halloweekends during Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Weekend

Hi All! I feel like this time of year we get a lot of questions about this weekend and how busy it may be, with it being a holiday. I think generally most know this is usually the busiest weekend of all of Halloweekends, but I wanted to bring some statistics to light so you can be well informed and can set realistic expectations.

The weather this coming up weekend looks to be beautiful, and I expect to see attendance very similar to last year which had very similar weather to contend with.

I reviewed data from the Queue Time website for the last 3 years, which reliable capture what Cedar Point reports as wait times in their own apps. Keep in mind, The data is as strong as the parks reporting.

I compared 8 major thrill rides for this comparison, including: Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Millennium Force, Top Thrill 2, Sirens Curse, Valravn, Gatekeeper and Raptor.

Overall Average (Second Weekend of October):

Friday - 74min/ride (130min Max)
Saturday - 79min/ride (120min Max)
Sunday - 60min/ride (94min Max)

Overall Weekend Average Wait Time Range by Ride (Max Wait Time Weekend Average):

Steel Vengeance - 75-120min (164 Max)
Maverick - 75-90min (128 Max)
Millennium Force - 60-75min (99 Max)
Top Thrill 2* - 75-100min (143 Max)
Sirens Curse* - 100-150min (160 Max)
Valravn - 45-75min (100 Max)
Gatekeeper - 30-60min (94 Max)
Raptor - 30-60min (94 Max)

* New Ride only has 2025 Data

I was going to add an Up Time statistic, but weather impacts overall uptime. Generally these rides are at around 80-95% uptime across the review period on fair weather days. The park does not transmit the reason a ride is down in the Queue Times data which is why I did not provide details.

TLDR: This weekend (the second weekend in October) will be busy due to nice weather. Expect to wait at least 75 minutes at every ride with the Top 5 coasters at over 120 minutes or more.

How's Everyone Doing without Power Tonight?

Just sitting here in silence, doors open listening to the quietness of the powerless neighborhood. Living room is illuminated by a few candles and a battery powered lamp I found at Target today. Thankfully not too warm keeping the windows open. Power isn't planned to be back till tomorrow night according to AEP, but I know others may not see it return till Friday. Thankful for my gym for letting us charge our power banks and phones. So how are we doing, Columbus? Share your stories of how you are either making the best of it, or struggling.

Are Developers living in the same reality?

Who on earth thinks that this house is going to sell for anything close to this amount in Wright Dunbar? Like even the Simms townhouses a couple blocks away are $260-305K and that’s even pushing it. You can buy for cheaper in Centerville! I love new housing, especially reinvestment in blighted communities but this just is so delusional.

High Altitude Ballon over Western Suburbs

Finally got to use my favorite flair. Anyone know what it is? I’m assuming a weather balloon. It drifted this way from Iowa. It’s pretty bright in the blue sunset sky. Pic is as seen from the Clippers Game.

Edit: Spelled BALLOON wrong 😑

Huli Huli Tiki Lounge opens in Downtown - Columbus, Ohio

Huli Huli Tiki Lounge opened this week in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. This is an expansion of the original which is located 30 minutes to the north in Powell, Ohio. Really fun environment and great drinks as always from them! This is the first traditional Tiki Lounge in downtown Columbus since The Grass Skirt closed in 2019.

The Moai fireplace is the centerpiece that will breathe smoke every so often during the night.

The menu has 5 or so recipes that are shared from their Powell location, but added some unique recipes specifically for this location. Pictured drinks are the Three Dots and a Dash and Huaka’i Mui

Trip to “Cedar Point” on Price is Right today 🤔

Today, a trip to Cedar Point was a prize during the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right. None of the photos were from the park.

I am pretty politically active and tend to send emails out to my representatives when things concern me. One thing that has been consistent is my responses from Bernie Moreno’s office being the exact same canned response regardless of what issue I am contacting him for, sometimes months after my initial concern. Is this what our state representation looks like?

Here are my last 5 reply’s from his office this year so far. Yes, each one is a reply to a different inquiry, you can see the date in the top. I’m just tired of the same response.
