Weird sun/moon/cloud interaction in Central NJ yesterday

What is going on here? I took these pictures from a moving car at about 6:30pm. Weather was dry with light cloud cover. This cloud formation appeared - moon is visible in the “hole”. Sun was behind the cloud to the left of the hole, and as we continued to drive, the sun appeared from behind the formation (sun moved to the left), but the formation continued to persist.

Weird Sun/Moon/Cloud formation - Lawrence NJ

You can see the moon in the darker circle in the cloud formation. The sun was behind the cloud when this happened. Any guesses?

What did this come out of?

Found today in our mostly rural backyard, central New Jersey. Adult foot for scale.

Comcast left entire neighborhood without service after “upgrade”

Yesterday, there were several Comcast trucks in our town, apparently doing an infrastructure upgrade, and there was no service all day. At the end of the day, the trucks left, but my neighborhood was left without any service. This morning, we are still having an outage.

The Xfinity app claims there is no outage. Calling tech support was pointless - they only offered to send a technician to my house 5 days from now for an in-house visit to fix a problem that is affecting the whole neighborhood and clearly has nothing to do with my cable drop, cable modem, or router. At least 3 neighbors now have appointments scheduled like me for next week.

One neighbor got a text from Comcast yesterday saying that her service is restored, which of course was not the case.

How can we get someone at Comcast to address this problem?

For the last 36 hours or so, we've been having intermittent 20% or so packet loss from the cable modem to various reliable internet sites (major DNS servers). This results in almost total loss of connectivity for several seconds every few minutes. The modem logs show frequent T3 timeouts:

"Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out"

The wiring is good with a single 2-way splitter at the POE, and has not given me any problems for several years.

Regular support options were not helpful.
