Tickets for Jim Lang/Hey Arnold band performances

Little confused with ticket rollout and sales for these shows

The NYC show isn’t listed anywhere else but the venues website. I’ve also noticed Ticketmaster only has 10 of the shows listed.

Is today only pre sale and more are coming Friday? Been trying to find more info, any help appreciated!

25th(ish?) time seeing Muse, and they certainly know how to bring it

Been seeing Muse for over 15 years now. Seen a lot of shows, they still bring the energy. I know it’s a ramp up tour but would’ve loved to have heard more of the new stuff; and as always would love to hear anything other than the same 10 singles over and over but I’ve accepted it is what it is at this point 🙃

For a game that I don’t consider to be very violent, this is by far and away the most gruesome moment in the game

I’ve seen Tame in Philly several times now. Always worth the drive from NY for the extra show. Crowd really brings it.

I feel like everyone is completely missing the point about the second apron; it’s not about the money, it’s about the limitations on roster construction

I feel like every other post on this sub is now a hit piece of the “fuck Dolan he’s so cheap” and “wow now Dolan is gonna destroy the Knicks” variety

I honestly do not get it.

First off, if there is one word to not describe Dolan’s tenure ship of the Knicks is “cheap.” He has regularly paid multiple coaches at once, spent big dollars on players and dishes out for support staff and more at will.

Is there some level where Dolan wants to duck the second apron becuase of financials? Sure. I’m not gonna say it’s a non factor

But the main factor is that going over the second apron essentially makes it impossible to change your roster

I made a lengthy post about the restrictiveness of the second apron the other day , but I’ll sum it up quickly here

If you go over the second apron, here are your avenues for acquiring new players

  1. the draft
  2. vet minimum
  3. non aggregated equal salary trades

That’s it. No MLE. No chance of picking up a waiver/buy out player. No signing a player. No packaging together 4 guys to get 2. Those are your options

Notice how essentially no teams go over the second apron? Becuase it’s roster construction suicide.

So if the Knicks blow past the second apron to sign Mitch and Shamet, that means that once we do the only way (and I mean literally only way) to change the roster during the season would be an equal salary equal number player trade.

Good luck finding that mid season

I’m not gonna sit here and act like Dolan is an upstanding citizen or some BS like that, but imo if you’re whining about Dolan being cheap right now you’re either A) a brand new fan who just jumped on the bandwagon or B) a fan who has no idea how the second apron works.

Wondering what the second apron is? Wondering why the Knicks FO made the moves it did last night? New to this sub/Knicks and unsure about what all this means? Come read.

So you’re relatively new to this sub or you’re a Knicks fan but still have no idea what that damn “Second apron” is. You’re in luck, here is a rundown of what that rule entails, how it affects draft strategy and why the Knicks are expertly managing it.

The Second Apron

To put it in better terms, the second apron essentially acts as a “hard salary cap”. No team wants to cross this threshold because the restrictions once you do are immense. This was done in the most recent CBA to force teams to be financially creative and to not be able to acquire, stock and shed salary at will (which in my opinion, as we’ve seen, is fantastic for league parity).

If you cross over the second apron for ONE year, here are the ramifications:

  1. No taxpayer mid-level exception: for cash strapped teams, this is usually the easiest path to acquiring a quality role player in the off season. Without access to this tool, basically you’re only off season options are vet minimum salaries and draft picks

  2. You cannot acquire a player via a sign and trade: Speaks for itself. A second team cannot sign a player and then immediately trade them to you. Either you sign the player yourself or you don’t at all

  3. No aggregation of salaries in trades: This is the big one. This means that if you want to acquire a player that is making $20 million, you must also trade away a player that is making $20 million. In the old day you could smack together 3 contracts that add up to that amount, but once you pass the second apron, you cannot

  4. In a trade, you cannot take back more salary than you give away. Again, it forces a “1 for 1” style trade.

  5. You cannot use cash in trades

  6. You cannot sign certain veterans who were bought out during the season if the player's previous salary exceeded the mid-level exception amount

Now if you are in the second apron for SECOND year, well it gets even worse

  1. If a team is above the second apron in two of four seasons, its first-round pick seven years into the future becomes "frozen." It cannot be traded

  2. If the team remains a repeat second-apron offender, that frozen pick can eventually be moved to the end of the first round, regardless of record.

Long and short, you want to avoid the second apron as much as possible and if you do cross it, you only want to be there for one season

For a team like the Knicks, that means you have to pinch every penny possible to ensure maximum value of your roster. You know the Pacome Dadiet story, right? The only reason (more or less) the Knicks drafted him is because he agreed to take less than the usual amount of money owed to the 1st round pick drafted in his slot. Those extra dollars helped to make the KAT trade work. So this FO knows that managing every dollar effectively is paramount.

So now you look at last night's draft and the Knicks situation. The Knicks championship window is open now and probably for at least 2-3 more years. That means you want to have proven commodities on the team now and then try to attain assets to use later when that money comes off the books.

The Knicks already have essentially their rotation for next year set. The starting 5, plus Miles McBride and Tyler Kolek are 100% under contract. Alvarado and Dadiet have a player and team option respectively. It was reported that Diawara agreed to a deal. So that puts us at roughly 10 players. We need to fill 4 more spots and need every penny to do so.

That means that when we fill those spots with proven commodities. Now is not the time to draft a 22 year old that may help us down the road. We need a backup guard/wing/C that can provide viable depth now. There will be a time to grow some young pups, but that time isn’t now.

The cap space we gain by trading these picks away is far more important than drafting Koa Peat or whoever and hoping that as a 11th or 12th man they may make their way into the rotation.

This FO has proven time and again their process can be trusted. Let’s keep that going.

If you keep asking yourself “who can we keep?”, Really great and thorough breakdown by CBS of all the roster questions we face this summer. Especially salary cap predicaments and strategies

The Knicks can choose to bring bench guys back, but it starts the apron clock. Lots of interesting choices and scenarios; from Alvarado and his player option to Mo D and his very unique restricted FA and bird rights situation

PSA: STOP GOING INTO AND COMMENTING IN THE SPURS SUB

Good lord

The amount of people taking screenshots of spurs posts and putting them up here, engaging with spurs fans in their comments, etc

People, its another teams sub. It’s a team we just beat in the finals. There is nothing for you there. All you’re doing is subjecting yourself to content that this sub would also be making if we lost and trying to act like you have some moral high ground. Getting yourself into pissing matches you have no chance of winning

Of course they’re sticking up for their team. Of course they hate us. Of course they’re in denial. Of course they’re “delulu”. It’s the spurs sub. What the hell do you expect?

We won the finals. Have even the slightest bit of class and just stay the fuck out of their space

Former Giants WR Jamaar Taylor (6th round pick from the 2004 NFL draft) may hold one of the most interesting NFL WR stats of all time

So I’m a big madden fan, and for a lot of reasons (looking at you rookie year Eli), Madden 2005 is my all time favorite to play. The franchise mode is great and it’s an awesome giants team in the game

So of course playing the game so long I’m very familiar with the players and I recently realized something

Jamaar Taylor was a 6th round pick. Originally rated to go higher but college injuries killed his stock. He would ultimately only play 13 career games between 2004 and 2005 before another ACL tear would end his career

However, from what I’ve been able to find, Taylor holds a unique statistical achievement: he is the WR with the fewest career receiving yards while also recording 100 yards in a game

In week 12 of the 2004 season he had 2 catches for 102 yards against the eagles. He would go on to record only 42 more yards the rest of his career

That’s means 69% of his recieving yards for his career came in that one game.

I haven’t found anyone else that fits in that realm, so it likely stands that Taylor holds the record for fewest career receiving yards while also holding a 100 yard game to his name

PSA/reminder: with the Knicks in the finals this sub will be rife with bandwagoners, trolls, and casuals. Don’t engage with/report low quality posts

Don’t karma farm by piling on. Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t get sucked into dumb arguments

Keep the focus on the Knicks.
