Hi everyone. This is a very long story so i’ll try to keep it to the main details

My mum bought an oven from Argos with ‘Argos buy now pay later’ credit in January 2025. We had just moved houses and got the measurements wrong, so my mum scheduled a refund with Argos. The lady on the phone said that a slot was not available until 3 weeks ish later but they’ll call if there’s one sooner. They did eventually call and offered an earlier slot, which my mum accepted. A few days later 2 men in uniform picked it up and took it away in a trolley and said that a refund will issued 3 days later. Well.. a refund of course never came

Long story short- we called numerous times asking for a refund ect.. trying to sort it out. Called the suppliers, transferred to every single department possible i think, spend hours on the phone, and it’s like the oven just disappeared? The frustrating thing was that they didn’t take note of our previous conversations so we’d have to explain the story from the beginning each time.

We were told to file a police fraud report. My mum was convinced that there was some foul play , although i don’t necessarily believe that. We did make a report but were ultimately told that we needed to just figure it out with Argos

I also emailed one of the higher ups of Argos with a formal complaint explain everything but was told that the case was ‘closed’ and that they can’t do anything on their end.

The £600 (now going to £800 due to accumulating interest) was never refunded and now Lowell recently contacted my mum recently regarding the debt

This has probably been the most draining situation i’ve had to deal with. I have just received my Student finance for the term and i’m thinking of just paying off the debt with it as i honestly cannot be bothered with it anymore. I’m just so drained from it all. It’s been going on for months.

Is there anything we can do about this given it has been going on for months? I’ve been told that i should contact NewDay but they don’t have an email. Should i send them a letter? Or should i contact Lowell first?

I’m in England. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

This is a bit random at this point, but following the whole Ceuta thing one of the main rhetoric by them was that “Ceuta was Spanish before Morocco even existed”, and mind you, this was getting eaten UP. From what i’ve seen (hopefully an echo chamber) this wasn’t getting disputed much.

like huh?? Since when was Spain older than Morocco? Takes like 2 google searches to know that isn’t true. It isn’t something that can* be debated either. I’m confused as to how they got so many people to blatantly believe this bs?

Probably just some spanish nationalists but i’m genuinely just amazed by their ability to propagandise something so false 😭

Hey guys, i need to get my nails done asap but im really particular about hygiene and im struggling to find somewhere im comfortable with. Somewhere where they use new nail filers/buffers for each client, and properly clean and disinfect metal tools between each client. I usually go Townhouse but i can’t afford it right now.

Is there any i can book with? I’m also completely okay with independent nail techs too, i don’t need anything fancy i just want somewhere that is genuinely hygienic that i can book TODAY

Ideally in hackney/Dalston/ hackney central area but im willing to travel a bit

Sorry i dont exactly know where to post this, so im posting it here. I work agency work and on one of my shifts me and one of my co workers went for lunch together. we were in the queue when he realised his apple pay wasn’t working and there was no signal. anyway i felt bad so i offered to pay for him which was about £22. after we got our food, i jokingly said “you better pay me back, im broke asf”. he laughed and said yeah. anyway i forgot about it after that, but later when we messaged he asked me for my details, but i completely forgot to send them to him

it’s been like over a week. would it be weird to ask him for the money? it’s only about £20 so not a lot but i’m a uni student and need it badly

Hi guys. I just got fired for misconduct at work. Im writing this quickly so pls bare with me. Im 21 and I work for an agency and I do bar work mostly. A few shifts a month alongside uni. I only got diagnosed 1.5 months ago and I’m still not on medication, so this is all new to me. I’m still learning to not be so hard on myself but I’ve been thinking about this all day and I probably will for the next 2 weeks

Today I worked at a festival and these men came up to the bar (that was very busy at this point) and we started having a random conversation, and then they offered to pay me £100 personally for a bottle that costs £200, saying that they’ll transfer me £100 to my account there and then. I said no, 1 because I don’t know my account number and 2nd that’s just ridiculous. Anyway they kept insisting, and told me to give them double drinks for the price of singles. I kept saying no and laughing it off, and at this point I think security started noticing us as we were holding up my line.

Anyway from now on everything gets blurry as I just get overwhelmed and idk. I honestly don’t remember the details exactly, and because it was so busy and I think i just went autopilot.

I must’ve put singles on the till instead of doubles, and went to the bar and made 2 double drinks for him. Then his friend said he wanted the same thing, and I put it 2 down on the till, but I didn’t press enter. So now the order was just sitting there, and if you don’t press enter the person can’t pay and the order eventually disappears. The problem is I did THE SAME THING where I make him doubles instead of singles, without thinking? In my head I put it down as doubles. Idk???

Now the security guard realises something’s up and told the managers, and they went to look through my till, and obviously only 2 drinks had been put through whilst 4 were on the counter.
The manager pulls me aside before I even check the till, then tells me how security saw me, and kept asking me why I only put 2 through. The security guard said my “body language was off”. I tried explaining but I couldn’t even explain why I did that. it just looked so bad. I was so oblivious that I even shot myself in the foot and told them they were all doubles, which made it even WORSE. The managers didn’t even know they were doubles, they just said why I gave them 4 drinks when only 2 were paid for. They then escorted me off site early and I’m sure I’m fired. I cried so hard whilst I was being taken off site by the manager and that just made the situation worse

Like why the fuck would I do that genuinely. The guilt is eating me up alive because technically I stole but why??? Like what the hell did I gain from that???? It was 100% my fault too I tried to explain but there was no point. I genuinely don’t know what to do. This isn’t the first time this happened and I know this isn’t the last. I just do things without thinking and only realise later how horrible it is. I ruined so much and I honestly don’t know how to deal with this.
