Adding a deep during nectar flow

I am in peak flow now and supers are filling out. I had two hives, each had onw deep and one super. The girls were working on the super and I started noticing some crowding in the first deep. I added a second deep to each hive, for hive 1 I put the deep above the existing deep, so between the super and the lower deep, checked the frames and left the queen excluder between super and new deep.

For the second one, I out the new deep at the bottom snd added some pre filled frames.

In bith cases they pretty much stopped working on the super and started filling honey into the new deep. I feel like i missed something here, is there a way to add a deep and have them continue working on the super? Should I have added a new deep layover the super so they can at least start drawing it out?

How can I reduce tear out and improve dove tails on my cedar bee hives?

Going to paint them, so dont care too much about looks, but wanted to ask for suggestions. Making them onnthe porter cable dovetail tail jig.

For bonus points, how can I double the size of each dovetail? These are the biggest ones i can cut with that jig, but I really want to go up a size.

Mid summer swarms

I am in MO and the bees are cranking out lots of honey and I have a few questions about how to handle swarmy colonies during flow.

Ive had two hives, both double deeps, that started developing swarm cells. In those cases, I've been able to find the queen in rach hive and I split her out into some nucs along wjth about 5 frames from that hive and some empties. I make sure that I dont pull any frames that have queen cells and then i dump a bunch of bees in with her, expecting some of them to back to the old hive.

In bith cases, those queens still swarmed and took some bees with them, so now I have an under powered nuc and also a smaller original colony.

Is there a better way to handle this? I am still exoanding my hives and so more equipment isnt a problem, i am mainly concerned with loosing bees....

Also, section question: once the queen is out of the hive all the work just stopps, workers stop building and everyone is just hanging out. How can I get them to keep working and drawing comb while the new queen hatches and mates?

Thanks in advance!

Table saw upgrade

Ive been running a kobalt jobsite saw for about 6 years now and I want to upgrade to a better saw. My budget is somewhere around 1k at the moment. I am wondering if I should pick up a used grizzly or delta table saw from FB marketplace or save up and instead get a saw stop.

My son is growing up and expressed some interest in woodworking, but he is still about 5 years away from running a saw, I am thinking by then the sawstop safety pattents should be expired and more companies will make similar stuff, so I am leaning to just get something used.

Any opinions or recommendations or saws to stay away from?

Baffled FTN 5 Noise Reduction

Let me preface by saying I am new to suppressors and and 3da, but have been building up my arsenal for a while.

Earlier this year I got my form 1 approved and decided to print out an FTN to give it a shot, well I printed the 556 baffled version and finally put a few rounds through it. The good news is that it is still in tact, but somewhat disappointing factor was the actual noise reduction. I thought I'd be like a stealthy ninja navy seal with this thing, but alas it is still loud af. I fired with and without the suppressor and it is definitely a lot louder without it, but just wondering if this is as good as it gets.

Are commercial suppressors more silent? Should I try a different version? I was hoping it'd bring the sound down to about a 22lr level, but maybe I should have done more research to keep my expectations more in check. What do you all think?

Is there a way to add more wax to frames during inspection?

If I failed to add enough wax before putting the frame into the hive, is there some way for me to easily add more during inspection without pulling the frame completely outz taking it back to the house and adding melted wax?

Tried to wash the plate with warm soapy water and still no dice... printing using mainly bambu petg basic and one instance of creality petg. Nozzle at 255 and bed at 70.

I have my main generator, but its been and unwieldy. I would like to get a smaller portable generator that is easier to move around that can be a decent backup.

I need about 5k watts, but the main kicker is thst I want it to also be a backup for my well pump thst requires 240v. Anyone have any suggestions for one? I was looking into some parallel kits, but even in that case its atill 110 but just greater amperage.

I mow around the hives, but still have somengrass around. Is there a way to treat for them without harming the bees? Are they a threat to the colonies or honey?
