the fear of being average
All our lives many of us have that fear of being average, being mediocre. But what is being average truly means, if being average is having a well paying job, a loving partner, friends and a great social life. Then sure we all must strive to be average.
But what people miss is that one can achieve all this and then steep into a pool of mediocrity, we all know people doing a single job for years, never leaving their cities, never trying to have new experiences, never trying to take risk and try new things, as seen in our giant Indian companies who think R&D is wasteful and innovating is for the Europeans and Americans.
I argue being average is not changing, always being in your comfort zone and never coming out of it.
Change is the only constant, one must always keep changing keep innovating, keep taking risks and avoid being steeped into our comfort zone so much that our lives run on autopilot and everything is just lifeless.
Humanity has thrived due to many reasons but one of them is the ability to change, from hunter gatherers to farmers and from being subjects to citizens.
