I know customers read this sub. Please take these points into consideration.

First I want to say thank you to all the people who are wonderful and agreeable. I think it deserves to be said.

We don’t take credit. There are multiple signs saying so yelling at me or getting angry accomplishes nothing. This isn’t going to change.

Please don’t preach at me. I’m not Christian, I don’t want to hear the word of your god, I don’t need to be saved. I’m good, really. I just want to provide good customer service, ring you up, and get you on your way. I’m glad it works for you but I don’t need it pushed on me.

Please don’t pile your groceries high on the belt. Wait for space. When you do make mountains and stuff falls off due to movement of the belt that isn’t on me. It’s also more difficult, at least for me and others I’ve talked with, to scan stuff. We get measured on our speed and accuracy and this makes it more difficult.

The bulk food has numbers associated with every item. When you don’t label it, I have to find it and it’s really helpful if I ask you what it is and you say you don’t know. 😐. Write it down on a strip. I know sometimes the pens don’t work or there’s no strips but most people have a phone. You can take a picture or make a note of the number.

Please remember we’re human too and quite often it’s literally one order after another. Most of us are doing the best we can. We know prices are high. We know things are changing. We’re a cog in the machine.

I mean well with this. Do I think it’ll change much? Maybe not. And it’s Reddit so I’m expecting to be fussed at for even posting. But this is not the easiest job although I’m grateful to have it right now.

I hope everyone has a great night/day.

TIFU by getting four vaccines at once.

I thought I was being smart and pragmatic. You know, get it over with and be done with it. I got Covid, Flu, Tetanus, and Shingles vaccines, two on each arm.

And yesterday was uncomfortable when I got the shots. A little sore in the arms. The Shingles and Tetanus hurt like hades going in but then it all settled so I thought I was good.

But no, I was restless all night and I’m sick as all hell today. No fever but I’m nauseated, my arms hurt like hell, and I work at a grocery store so I’m using my arms.

I tried to make it, I really did. I was supposed to work late tonight then turn back and go in the morning, so basically a clopen.

I finally said I need to go home after getting sick a bit so I’m currently waiting for my husband to come get me and regretting my own stupidity.

TL:DR got four vaccines at once, made me sick, had to leave work early, regretting life choices.

Looking for help finding a recipe

I hope this is ok to post and if not, I’m sorry in advance. If it is the wrong place can anyone point me in the right direction?

In the late 80’s/early 90’s there was a restaurant in my town in GA called Top Wok. It was owned by an amazing couple who made everything fresh. There was a dish they called cucumber chicken. Think broccoli beef, but with cucumber and chicken. The sauce was pale and didn’t seem to use soy sauce. It was so damn good.

I’ve tried to find it with Google but what I get are either salad recipes or ones with a dark sauce. I really want to make this. I do most of my sauces homemade. If anyone has suggestions I’d be very grateful.

What I remember is cucumber, chicken, a pale sauce, and greens. They had their own garden they got the veggies from.

TIA.

Gotta love lazy people

One of the signs that you’re a good person is you do the right thing even if no one sees.

It’s over 80 don’t leave your dogs in your car!

At the Fred Meyer, grey Honda, two dogs inside with windows up. At this temperature, your car is an oven. Please be responsible pet owners.

We alerted the management but had to go because of work. I just don’t understand how people can be so thoughtless.

ETA: I know about car features on newer cars that keep it climate controlled. This car was not a newer one and was not running.

I realize i should have called non emergency.

New employee. What are some ways to not have the apron pull on my neck?

My previous job I didn’t wear an apron. This one is pulling on my neck and it’s uncomfortable. I don’t have anything in the pockets so it’s not that. Is there any way to ease the tension on my neck?

Question about jury duty

My son got a jury summons. He’s disabled, autistic, non verbal with strangers and only leaves the house if my husband or I am with him.

I tried to respond to try to get him dismissed but I messed it up. When I try to call the message says you can’t leave a voice asking for dismissal except due to age. I have no idea how to see about getting him excused. Or can I or my husband be with him if he shows up and asks for dismissal?

He’s capable of so much, just not this and I don’t know what to do because I don’t want him to be in trouble.

Well I turned in my two weeks today

I’m going somewhere with comparable hours and pay, but I’ll just be a cashier. No more stocking, scanning, osa, pricing, merchandising resets, photo, carrots, same day orders and everything else.

I’ll miss most of my coworkers. I wish y’all luck!

ETA thanks autocorrect for carrots but I meant carry outs 😂

Why wouldn’t a pharmacy/dr verify who they have on the phone before giving patient information?

It happened again today. The pharmacy was closed for lunch. I get patients blurting out their info without making sure they reached the pharmacy. I interrupt them and tell them that this is the front checkouts and when to call back.

But I also get drs and pharmacists calling and after I greet, just going into patient details. I have to interrupt them too. Isn’t that a violation of HIPAA?

It doesn’t matter that I identify what department I’m at. For instance, I’ll say this is <my name> in photo, or cosmetics or front end, they just steamroll right past it.

It’s so frustrating and there doesn’t seem to be a viable solution to stop it.

Wish me luck cuz I was honest in the survey

I know it’s ’voluntary and optional’ but they’re pushing us. So I did it and I was absolutely honest in it.

We’ll see if I lose my job 😂

Yesterday it was kind of slow. I was over by photo where our photo person was working and my CSA was doing elearns (a rare, slow day). I was singing ‘SheBop’ to myself when my photo person asked what the song was. I said Cyndi Lauper, and they asked who is that?

This was after my CSA had quoted ‘There is only Zuul’ when I asked where he was, and the photo person didn’t understand that or my reply quote. I explained Ghostbusters and said, next thing you know you’ll tell me you don’t know who Mr. Greenjeans is, because I knew they wouldn’t know that. Then they asked who that was. I said from Captain Kangaroo, kind of like Mr. Rodger’s.

Y’all, they asked who Mr Rodger’s was. ☠️

This is a kid who giggles every time they say 67.

Just put me in my grave already. ⚰️
