r/WinCo

Well this happened....
I've been at WinCo for literally a month already and I already received Cashier of the Month. I feel like I don't deserve it
Stole this from fb
This came from someone in management confirming what I’ve been posting about in the past. The cut hours are coming directly from the people at the top of the company forcing store managers and department managers to cut hours. They keep making poor decisions regarding managing the company and store employees pay the price by having their hours and benefits taken away.
MIT interview
What is the overall experience for MITs or department heads? What are the interviews like? What kind of questions?
HR help!
Does WinCo have a truly confidential HR contact, I need help!
Policy Question
I am a freight lead and am interested in having someone come in to cover for someone that called out. From what I was told, if a coworker needs a ride to the hospital, then it has to be same-sex and a manager, otherwise I think an ambulance has to be called. What about for matters where a coworker doesn’t have a way to get to work but is willing to come in? Can I give them a ride? Do same-sex rules still apply? Can a subordinate give them a ride? I think the same-sex thing isn’t fair and a little dated but that’s a separate conversation.
Padding the chicken thighs with additional fat.
So bone in, skin on chicken thighs are about the cheapest you can buy. I processed them today and there's literally little wads of unrelated chicken fat pressed around the thighs. I'm incredibly disappointed. In the end, it was only about 4 oz, but on top of the bones and skin, it's just frustrating.
ALERT! Winco is getting rid cinnamon rolls and ALL of their bakery items!!!
TLDR: winco VP has decided to remove all bakery items that are baked in store.
I know this probably sounds small to some people, but I am genuinely upset about it.
I talked to a worker at my local WinCo and was told that the store is getting rid of the cinnamon rolls, turnovers, bakery breads, and apparently other bakery items. My understanding is that many of these already arrive frozen and are baked in the store, and now those products are being removed NATIONWIDE
I have not found a public announcement from WinCo. I do not know whether this is happening company-wide, by region, or only at certain stores. That is part of why I am posting.
This may also mean fewer bakery jobs or fewer hours for the people who work there. Please do not take your frustration out on store employees. They did not make this decision, and I am not going to name the worker who told me.
If you shop at WinCo, can you check your store and comment with:
- Your city and state
- Whether the cinnamon rolls are still there
- Whether the turnovers and bakery breads are still there
- What you were told about the change, without naming employees
WinCo has an official product-request form here: <https://www.wincofoods.com/contact>
If these products matter to you:
send one honest request using your own store and purchase information. Please do not spam them or create fake accounts. Real customers explaining what they actually buy will make a much stronger case.
I know it is a cinnamon roll. It is also one of the dependable parts of my week, and I would really like WinCo to listen before it disappears.
First day today!!
I have been job hunting ever since I got let go from my old job which happened in December….I know it might seem silly to be this exicted for a job but they were so nice to me today. My old job was very stressful as it is with fast food and I was going through a rough breakup. Needless to say it was a experience 😅. So I really am grateful ro have gotten a job. Especially at a store that I buy from frequently.
Bulk items recipe cards still a thing?
A long time ago at the Clackamas Oregon location I used to see these little index cards near the bulk foods area with recipes to put their goods to use instead of guessing how much water to add to my cheese powder or falafel mix.
Do these still exist at any current locations? I can’t seem to find them at my nearest store.
