USB stick not detected

2023 model y, car came with 128gb Tesla stick plugged in but the option to format the usb is greyed out. I formatted this usb exFAT named it TESLA DRIVE with TeslaCam folder on root of the drive with no luck.

Usb drive works ok as in I'm able to copy files etc over using my PC.

Thought let me try another so did the same with a Kingston 64gb usb and it's still not playing ball.

Pressed down both scroll wheel controls on steering to restart. Kind of running out of options here. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hypervolt tethered with 10m cable

Hi all,

Looking to get an EV charger installed and whilst a family member recommended deta.e edock 2 which "does the job", I am considering all options.

We have 2 cars, 1 ICE and other EV. One of the main criteria for charger is that would like 10m long tethered cable (or slightly longer if possible) as the driveway is quite long and this will allow the EV to be parked behind the other car. This is mainly for convenience as I don't have to move cars every morning since I go work earlier with the ev.

Couple of questions:

  1. I saw ohme tethered do not come in 10m so wondering if it's worth going for untethered ohme and buy a long cable separately or alternatively go for hypervolt with 10m tethered

  2. Family member is an independent electrician (certified) who has done EV chargers before (deta.e evc8001 is the recommendation from them). If they were to install ohme or hypervolt would that provide me with warranty still or would they have to be a "registered" with hypervolt or ohme?

eBay seems to have sellers with excellent feedback selling it for cheaper so considering purchasing the charger and getting family member install it as a quote from other (hypervolt registered) electrician came in around 1.5k

Or if you have any other suggestions, would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Buying from Carsa

Hi all,

Looking at purchasing 23/24Reg Model Y long range (single/dual motor) with circa 20k miles but approved used from Tesla are coming few far and between and prices seems to be going up.

Starting to look at independent dealers or carsa/cinch which seems to be 2k+ cheaper for similar year/miles.

Obviously buying from Tesla comes with 1 year warranty+ they'll know what faults to look out for but any advice to use other services (if available?) or do an pre purchase independent inspection?

Also does this attract the additional road tax? (Year 2-6 I think?)

Thanks in advance

Model Y Vs Skoda Enyaq

Like many others in this sub on a daily basis, I am also looking to make the transition to EV from an ICE vehicle and struggling with decision paralysis due to the choice have finally whittled it down to 2022-2023 Model Y long range and 2024 Skoda Enyaq (I think!). Also like ev6, BMW ix (albeit out of price range slightly, EQB (don't like the range) and many more!

Couple of options I'm comparing (to give an idea of price range and year). Are these good value? Autotrader seems to think so.

Looking to spend around 25k and will be purchasing with personal loan with the intention to keep it for a long time (if no issues with the vehicle). I have accepted I will lose atleast 40% of the value in the next 4-5 years if I do maybe 10k miles a year.

Most important factors for me are the mileage (although I plan to get home charger fitted) and boot/car space to fit 2 car seats in the rear for atleast couple of years more.

Whilst I like the minimalistic design in the Tesla and was impressed during the test drive, have read about stiff suspension and poor build quality compared to Skoda. Maybe even poor customer service if something goes wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated or tips to help me decide!

Buying approved used VS others

Looking to move to first ev 2-3 years old preferably and wondering how much premium is worth it going for an "approved used" from a dealership Vs cinch/carsa etc. with a year warranty?

Assuming the previous owners have had the car serviced as recommended (interval and dealership), standard manufacturer warranty would be valid so is the premium (if any) worth it buying straight for the dealership?

Day trip to IOW

Hello from across the Solent!

First trip to IOW since kids (6 and 2), will be arriving east Cowes at 10 and return sailing at 4:30pm. Plan to spend max 2 hours at the beach and visit Shanklin Chine and the Needles.

For anyone on here who's visited IOW before, is there anything else you'd recommend we should probably see? Does the above plan sound good enough to cover in the time we have?

Finally, struggling to decide which beach to visit! Given the weather, we don't want to be crammed so thinking to avoid Ventnor. Thinking maybe Sandown or Ryde (big enough also with access to shops, cafe, loo etc.)

Welcome any advice/tips!

Mrs needs to be in at work for 11am tomorrow, and as no buses due to road closures have managed to figure out the route to get her close to Westquay (via northam bridge).

However, stumped trying to figure out the best route to get back to woolston other than A33 to M27 back to junction 8.

Can anyone think of a shorter alternatives?
