ESFP Appreciation 💛

Hello, ISFP here! I see a lot of questions along the lines of “what is the best mbti type?” or “if you could be any other mbti type which one would you be?”, and after studying cognitive functions for a while, I feel like the gamma types have the best cognitive functions. Maybe I’m being biased but I couldn’t imagine not having Fi, Se, Ni, or Te in my main stack.

That being said, out of the four types that share these functions, I really admire ESFPs the most. I always say that if I could be another type, I’d be an ENTJ because I get frustrated about having inferior Te and wish mine could be a lot better. However realistically, I think if I had to pick another type to be other than ISFP, I’d actually much rather be an ESFP.

I think ESFPs are so underestimated especially when it comes to your guys’ Te. Y’all have such a wonderful balance of feeling/thinking and such a magnetic energy. You guys are a force, yet emotionally intelligent and authentic. I admire and appreciate ESFPs so much not only from a theoretical perspective but also from knowing some amazing ones in my life. Thanks for being you 💛

What’re your thoughts on marriage?

The older I get, the less appealing it seems…I personally fall under the “indifferent” category.

Don’t get me wrong, I have a very loving partner and I’m 100% committed to my relationship. I just don’t care for the paperwork and feel like you can have a loving, committed relationship without the paper. Or maybe I really am afraid of commitment deep down inside?

Anyways, curious about what other ISFPs think and thanks for voting!

How to help an INTP who is being manipulated?

Hello, I posted this in the MBTI sub but felt like this sub might be helpful as well! I have an INTP family member who is getting manipulated and taken advantage of by his partner. They have been together for a few years and the partner has made it clear that she doesn’t like our family. The INTP has been slowly drifting away and more isolated from family. He doesn’t have that many friends either so she’s pretty much all he has aside from roommates and coworkers.

At the moment, they are doing long distance. However, the partner has decided to move in with the INTP and the INTP agreed to pay for all of her living expenses in addition to his own. Keep in mind, they are both young adults in their early 20s and neither are in a financial position to be paying for another person’s rent. The INTP has struggled a lot the past few years. He bends over backwards working 60+ hours a week in order to pay for her nice vacations and gifts. The relationship is incredibly imbalanced and the partner publicly humiliates him all the time.

I’ve tried to talk to the INTP about this but he got very defensive and upset with me. I understand that he’s emotionally attached but I can’t understand how he doesn’t see the blatant disrespect and how he’s being used. At this age, he should be focusing on himself, not taking care of someone else who gives absolutely nothing in return. Not even kindness or respect. I can list a million examples of how lopsided the relationship is but I don’t want to make this too long.

I once had another INTP friend who used to complain to me about how people always use him and take advantage of him. He was in the process of starting a business venture with a mutual “friend” who was an ENFP and the ENFP drunkenly shared with me one day about his plans to screw over the INTP. I was so appalled and basically dropped that friend after warning the INTP about what he had told me.

I have no regrets about losing that friendship because telling was truly the right thing to do. However, it backfired because…the INTP didn’t believe me!!! He cut me off and proceeded to do business with the ENFP. I found out from another mutual friend years later that he got bamboozled by the ENFP.

I feel like INTP’s inferior Fe can make them incredibly susceptible to manipulation. Apparently, as an ISFP, my blunt (and passionate!) way of communicating to INTPs isn’t good enough to get them to listen to me when I’m trying to look out for them.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do or what the best way to get through to an INTP is? It’s so hard being an onlooker when you care about the person but I don’t want to accidentally push him away any further.

Much appreciated, thank you!

What to do about an INTP who is getting emotionally manipulated?

I have an INTP family member who is getting manipulated and taken advantage of by his partner (I’ve been told she is an ESTP but not totally sure). They have been together for a few years and the partner has made it clear that she doesn’t like our family. The INTP has been slowly drifting away and more isolated from family. Which of these Ao Dai are appropriate to wear to a wedding (pt 2)

I made a post yesterday asking about this and got roasted by my outdated selections 😂. Thank you to everyone who responded and gave better suggestions on where to look.

As recap: I’m attending a Vietnamese American wedding soon with dress code cocktail attire. The bride is Vietnamese and I’m a distant cousin. A lot of cousins are wearing ao dai but I’m not as familiar with Vietnamese weddings or customs. From my research, I was told that red, white, and black colors are to be avoided. I want to wear an ao dai but I want to make sure that it’s appropriate in terms of color, cut, style, etc. I’m in my late 20s and need to order from a place that ships to the US in 2 weeks (it’s very last minute I know 😩).

I have updated my options and wanted to get everyone’s input. Which of these ao dai dresses would be the most appropriate for a wedding? And not something that an old auntie would wear? Thank you!! 🙏🏻

Which of these ao dais are appropriate to wear to a Vietnamese wedding?

I’m going to a Vietnamese American wedding as a guest soon. The bride is Vietnamese and I am a distant cousin. I’m not familiar with Vietnamese weddings and want to make sure I’m dressed appropriately.

The dress code is cocktail attire but a lot of cousins attending are wearing ao dai. I’d like to wear one too and I know that red, white, and gold are colors to avoid. Is black or dark color ok if it’s also very colorful (photo 2 and 7)? Is lace ok (photo 1 or 3) or would that be too elaborate and attention drawing away from the bride and groom? Is a modern one with no sleeves ok (photo 7 & 8) or should it be more tradition?

I have pictures of different ao dai styles attached. Please let me know which of these would be appropriate to wear and which are not appropriate - it’d be very helpful. Thank you!

Does anyone have this Wilfred Free Boyfriend Linen button up in white and size L?

I bought this white linen button up over 2 years ago and it seems like Aritzia has discontinued this exact style. It was one of my favorites and such a staple item. I was devastated to lose it during a recent trip.

I’ve looked EVERYWHERE and can’t find it - I just loved this exact fit so much and can’t even find anything similar. Does anyone have this and would be willing to sell?

Which type is most likely to be socially awkward?

Between INTP, ISTP, INTJ, and ISTJ? Or another type?

I think any of these can be socially awkward but in different ways. IxTPs are more likely to be aware of social awkwardness (inf Fe) and just not care. Whereas, IxTJs care but are less likely to be aware (Fe not in main stack).

Thoughts?

Edit: I realize that this post was kinda poorly written since I was half asleep when I posted. I just want to clarify that I think any type can be socially awkward, even extroverts. Although introverts are more likely to experience social anxiety only because socializing is so draining.

My intent wasn’t to generalize and point the finger at one type, although I see how the title and post are phrased make it seem that way. My intent was more to discuss how social awkwardness looks different across different types and how it correlates to certain functions!

A lot of people mention INTP, but I actually feel like some INTPs come off as more charming because of their ability to come up with things to say (Ne). They can be awkward in the sense of monologuing at people who don’t want to listen to them, but they’re better at preventing awkward silences, which I think ISxPs (myself included) have a tendency to do…we just cannot think of things to say for the life of us so then we say nothing which can make others feel awkward and like they’re pulling teeth.

I’ve also noticed that when IxTJs or ExTJs are being socially awkward, it tends to be more offensive. Is this attributed to high Te and low Fi? Whereas when IxTPs or ExTPs are socially awkward, people aren’t necessarily as pissed off as they are annoyed or weirded out…anyways, thank you everyone for your comments and sharing your thoughts!
