Last night I played a live show for the first time in >20yrs, and made the mistake of trying to match 1:1 how I play (or rather, compose) at home: full setup with all the devices, fixed arrangements with lots of patch/program changes, lots of project loads, and me working the synths along to the drum machine playing back eleborate chains in song mode... Sometimes while playing live bass.

I knew (everyone knows) one missed transition or forgotten mixer mute, mis-toggled 404 bank page, etc is all it would take, and there'd be no easy way to recover. I chanced it and paid the price.

It was just a low-stakes free house show and (almost) everyone was very supportive and cool about the three separate pileups I had. Some tracks came off great - I had a lot of fun but still super disappointing, though :/

The upside is that I've been rattled out of working the same way (meticulous arrangement and traditional songwriting) and am determined to do more casual improv at home and play out again (someday) with a different, more stress-free approach.

The other upside of playing out again after so many years was connecting with a few people who are into this kind of stuff... which hasn't happened in a long time (outside of this sub).

I had problems getting this one to work - mostly around hopping between 3 project files and battling bugs on the Keystep Pro but also just getting the break sequences on the 404 to sync. I found workarounds for all of it and am feeling good moving on to the next jam... which I'm determined to keep simpler, with less sequencer babysitting and more performance.

Trying to post content and that signal/noise in the background is killing it for me. People who are dawless get such a good sound on IG and YT. How can I achieve that? I’m using a focusrite 4i4 3rd gen to record through obs studio. My main mixer and clock is the Tr-1000 > keystep pro> quad midi thru > moog, digitone 2, Digitakt 2> tb-03.

A guitar piece from 2001 in the process of being arranged for my hardware setup..or maybe it'll just live here on the M8. Only two sections left to go.

Assembled in Baltimore with parts scavenged from the midwestern crash site of a '90s ska band. I had a really good time making this one. The corniest bits are usually my favorites.

Jam 2, day 2...This device is almost *too* fast at churning out cornball chip-toony covers (I just learned about deep cloning).

Sorry for the spam - This is going to require more restraint on my part... thanks for tolerating. (I'm new & excited).

I worked this up on the plane yesterday and am pretty blown away by the amount of control this little thinger affords in such a tiny package. (I used to schlep a tr-6s around). The community here seems pretty active and helpful too. Looking forward to some more involved jams and learning more.

From what I've read, USB drive mode should be an option on this screen post fw 6.5, but I'm not seeing it. I don't have a micro SD reader with me on this trip and want to offload some rendered files..

A short performance with just the Rytm and live bass played through the Minitaur for the gating. Maybe some day I'll add some more synth elements, but I sort of like it stripped down like this... Some whiffed notes here and there, but I kind of like that too.

Here's some laid-back semi-saccharine synth stuff over a bit of lightweight 808. There was a third section, but I couldn't find a way to connect it so I just let the second part vibe out for a few extra bars.
