One year.
I did my 53rd shot today. The first one was a year ago tomorrow, June 29th.
344 -> 209
Never in a million years did I believe I would get this far. It hasn't all been easy; strikes and gutters, ups and downs...but I've never been more grateful for a medication in my entire life.
I feel like I got my life back, and, for once, I'm excited for what the next 40ish years will bring.
Ten more pounds until maintenance, let's goooooo!
NPD!
New pen day! Pilot Vanishing Point in dark blue with a fine nib; birthday gift from my wife. Really looking forward to getting it inked up!
Airplane update. I used to need an extender
This medicine will never cease to amaze me 🎉
My new set
Scored a free vintage set from (I think) 1981. Neighbor left it on his curb with a big ol' FREE sign. Absolutely love the bag.
Moleskine & Schmidt Easyflow
Impulse bought a Cahier 3-pack for the ol' Lochby pocket journal, never having used them before (Field Notes guy up til now). I pretty much exclusively use a Parker Jotter with Easyflow 9000 refill.
Am I going to be delighted or disappointed

NPD!
It's way too light, feels incredibly unbalanced in the hand, the clip feels like it'll snap at any moment, and the refill is shit...but when you rotate the white sphere, the little hamburger spins around whimsically. So I'm calling it a win.
Smooth Sailing
Love it when an overnight cook comes off without a hitch. Thirteen more degrees to go!
(Pork shoulder, btw)
Crazytown!
Used to be a 4XL shirt, 44 waist
As of today: XL shirt, 36 waist
I never could've imagined, even in my wildest dreams 🥲
Redondo Beach Marina at Dusk (Vivitar 602, lomo film but can't recall which stock)
The ol' memory ain't what it used to be 😆

I'd like to fill out my collection with some 60's & 70's versions at some point. Maybe get one from the year I was born. I'd also like to branch out color-wise.
Anywho, let me know if I got any of the dates wrong - dating Jotters accurately can be a confusing endeavor!
Any good TexMex spots nearby?
Don't say Chili's
NPD! (First Year Jotter)
Picked up my very own first year Jotter! Here's a photo of my four-year-old doing the inaugural doodles. His review: "it's fine."
My review: A great little pen! The spring was shot when it arrived, so the refill wouldn't retract. I tried all the little tricks to smooth out the opening, but nothing worked. Finally cannibalized a modern Jotter for its spring and swapped 'em out. Oddly enough, while the 1954 spring wouldn't work in its parent pen, it works just fine in the new Jotter. Go figure.
I was unsure about the ribbed barrel, but I like it! Really does give a better grip.
And the clicker? Holy moly, let's talk about the clicker. It's amazing - Heavy. Substantial. Satisfying. Feels solid enough to last another 72 years.
I put a Schmidt refill in there and it's writing wonderfully!
Do we like Retro 51 Fountain Pen?
Basically the title. I like the Retro 51 rollerball, mostly because of the look and feel. Don't love the refill.
How does the fountain pen compare?
Wearing a t-shirt today that I last wore in 1995
I always held on to my favorite t-shirts after I "grew out of them" in hopes that someday I would lose the weight and be able to fit in them again.
Well, that day is finally here! And, for today, I'm living my best sophomore-in-high-school life!
New Pen Day!
On a whim, I went ahead and ordered a hand-turned pen from the folks at Carolina Turning. It's gorgeous up close - made of Padauk. Heavy! Probably won't be journaling much with it, but will be great for quick notes!
I replaced the stock refill with a Schmidt Easyflow 9000 and it writes like a dream!
