Remembering Michael Jordan’s trips to Lexington

35 years ago today the Chicago Bulls won their first NBA Championship - Michael Jordan and the Bulls visited Rupp Arena to take on Seattle that following fall in 1991 in a preseason game in Lexington. Jordan is pictured with C.M. Newton at Rupp below via the Kentucky.com archive.

A fun fact that is often forgotten is that Jordan was pulled over two years prior in 1989 in Lexington for speeding on Interstate 75 (90 mph in a 60 mph) and did not have his license on him. He was then cited for failing to appear in the Fayette County District Court, temporarily having a warrant out for his arrest in Lexington issued by Judge John Adams before the matter was resolved. Jordan was leaving Chicago and traveling back to North Carolina when he was stopped.
