Half Real- are the lyrics “he may say that our love” or “they may say”?

I’ve always heard and assumed it’s “they may say that our love…”

But I see in the lyrics it says “he may say that I love…”

It’s they, isn’t it? Surely I can’t be the only one who hears “they” right?

Update: thanks for the responses! It never bothers me too much, I don’t know the actual lyrics so many of my very favorite songs, and when I find them out, I’m disappointed a lot of the time.

I prefer “they” but now I actually like that it starts he and ends with they. And yeah live with the band it’s obviously they, in his solo live performance of it it’s clearly he.

What’s the most reliable place for lyrics these days anyway? Genius?

A Burning Soul

Is there a live performance of “A Burning Soul” anywhere? Apologies if there’s a specific Owen subreddit, I wasn’t sure if this should go there if so.

It’s my favorite Owen song but I don’t think a version or performance exists outside of the album?

I worry about Cam’s voice

So many of my favorite singers ruin their voice over time- they just go full throttle for years, and wear it out. Especially people with no training, and the touring lifestyle can be tough on vocal cords.

I have no idea if he has any formal training, but it doesn’t seem like it. He seems like one of those lucky people who are blessed with an amazing starting point, and grow from there.

But yeah, between his solo shows and Geese shows and his insane range and vocal gymnastics, I wonder how long he can keep it up. I’m trying to think of vocalists who stay the same for long periods of time, and there aren’t that many that come to mind.

Anyway, just think about it sometimes when I listen to the incredible live shows, curious if anyone has any thoughts about it.

Albums like “Jumping the Shark” & “The Complete Guide to Inefficiency”

For some reason this got deleted from indieheads even though it had some great comments!

Albums like “Jumping The Shark” and “The Complete Guide to Inefficiency”

Was obsessed with Alex Cameron’s “Jumping the Shark” back in 2016. Honestly forgot about him and his music till last week, put on JTS and am just an enamoured with it now as I was then.

It holds up and is still such a singular and strange album. Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” is one of the greatest songs ever recorded, but aside from that, I prefer JTS to Nebraska in every way. I know that may seem like a weird comparison, but JTS is way more desperate and pathetic in its stories about losers. It’s also hilarious too, at times.

I remember liking some of “Forced Witness” and not being into anything else Alex has done, but this is one of those albums, like David Thomas Broughton’s “The Complete Guide to Inefficiency” that exist on their own planet and are impossible to reproduce.

Can anyone recommend cult favorite albums like these?

Kid Licorice remixes of Pink Elephant are an essential listen!

Year of the snake came up on shuffle and while I love the song, the production is muted and dull. I have all the kid licorice remasters bookmarked on YouTube and listened, it’s just so much better. If you hate the album, this won’t change anything. But if you like or love the album and haven’t given them a listen, go do it!

They’re so much clearer and better, and the only way I listen now. No affiliation, just a fan of the work they did!

Getting Killed sounds weird to me after listening to so many live versions

I absolutely love the album, that hasn’t changed at all. But it’s been a while since I listened to the album versions of some of the songs, it was almost jarring. Trinidad felt so much faster than the first time I ever heard it. I love some of the production and harmonies that don’t exist on the live versions, and I love that some of these versions are faster, depending on my mood I’ll listen to a live version of these songs or the album, but yeah- I was struck by how weird and different it sounds to me after months of live performances only.

Need a live broadcast version of LICHIC

I wish they’d end a set with Long Island instead of Trinidad just once. Trinidad live is incredible and I get it, but damnit I want Long Island with that same incredible energy and sound! Something other than fan shot footage. Afaik it’s the only getting killed track not played on some official live recording, right?

Critter & Guitari 5 Moons is the best looper, but…

I wish it could do reverse and/or pitch shifting! I’ve fully accepted that every looper on earth has, at minimum, one major flaw. I love this thing so much, but yeah, I wish it had that!

What’s your favorite looper besides one major flaw? The Ehx 95000 was incredible except for the stupid locked in loop length!

Pedals you sold then shot up in price

I’ve sold a lot of amazing pedals, mostly because I needed the money at the time, sometimes because I didn’t fully appreciate them, or sometimes I just thought they kind of sucked! One example is my Tefi Golden Era and Ms Delayette. I actually thought they were really great, but I needed money for the dentist at the time and sold them for close to what they originally cost. Now I see the golden era for way more. Kind of bummed, didn’t realize they’d be discontinued. I don’t think they’re worth the super high prices, they’re just discontinued. But it was a great pedal (same with their delay!)

Don’t even get me started about synths, drum machines and Eurorack. Argh!

Curious what experiences y’all might have with this.

Edit: I’m not talking about wishing you still had something just so you could make money, it’s more about realizing it’s too expensive and rare now to reasonably get it back.

EDIT II: Well I definitely feel a lot better about my experience in this department now lol. Appreciate all the replies so far!

I recently read that the Mood was Chase Bliss’ best selling pedal and I was surprised. Wondering what the best selling pedal is by each brand, like boss, jhs, Keeley, DBA etc. Anyone know?
