Any solution to being unable to copy IR frequencies?

I got the Rii K06 and want to use it to replace my projector and receiver remotes, along with the keyboard/touchpad features. It copies the projector remote no problem but won't copy any of buttons on the Yamaha receiver remote. My Harmony (which is on its last legs) copied the receiver without issue. Any way to make this work or do I need to look for another option? TIA

UPDATE: I've gotten it working. I had to press the receiver remote buttons repeatedly, and the Rii kept saving codes which didn't work, but after a number of tries I got everything saved properly. So, if anyone else faces this issue, just keep at it for a while and hopefully it'll work eventually.

Is the Weber Searwood the only pellet grill that sears across the entire cooking surface?

I know other pellet grills have some searing capability, but they're pretty much limited to only over top of the firebox. Any others I should check out?

The Bullseye Deluxe 380X has disappeared from the Recteq website

So now there's just the base version and the premium 380BD. Kind of strange as I feel like the X was the most popular model.

Looking for my next grill! Thoughts?

TLDR: Something with temp control, smokes and sears across its entire cooking surface, and can be built in.

Thinking about what to add to my upcoming outdoor kitchen. I currently have a Konnected Joe, a Joe Junior, and a small tabletop gas grill. None of these have a lot of cooking area. Now, I live alone and most of the time I'm just throwing a steak on Junior, but I also host parties and friends. When there's a party, a bigger grilling surface for burgers would be useful. If I'm cooking up something for a few friends for dinner, more smoking area would be nice.

I know, I know, not everything needs to be built in, but I'd really like if it were. I'll be adding cabinets and countertops to make a whole cooking area with a sink and probably a mini fridge. The new one would go on the left side against the wall, so it can have an overhang or ash pull-out on the left or front, but not the right or back. Most likely I'll retire Junior and/or the gas grill once I get a new one. I'm not looking for anything huge.

My current top choice is the Weber Searwood pellet grill. I'm almost certain I can build this in - just cut the legs down and drop the lower section into a base cabinet. It's not the greatest at grilling burgers, and it does have the hopper dump that pulls out to the right. I don't think dumping pellets is all that important (I can just use a scoop if I have to).

I looked at the Recteq Bullseye Deluxe, but the ash tray pulls to the right, which kinda screws me over. I don't really want to have to break out the shop vac after every cook. It's a shame the Smokestone is so single-minded. Seems like they could easily have made this a multi-purpose grill.

Other pellet grills can sear but not across the whole surface. I'm not always the one hosting the party - when guests are cooking, I can't be explaining how to micromanage the grill. Maybe there's one that works well with a griddle? I'd love a Yoder but it seems like it can only grill about 4 burgers at a time.

I really like the Masterbuilt gravity series, but none of them can be built in. If I didn't have that constraint, the 1150 seems to have the smallest total footprint, as the side table can be removed and the ash door opens to the front.

Another option would be to upgrade to the Big Konnected Joe. I'm not entirely sure why but I'm not leaning in this direction. I guess I'd like something new, plus I feel like rectangular grates give you more usable cooking area. I dunno, maybe this plus a griddle, but that's getting pricy and I can't really picture ever using the griddle myself.

Anyway, that went on for a while. Gimme your recs, or talk me out of the Searwood. Thanks!

(current setup for attention)

Any chance the Searwood could be built in?

I'm thinking no but figured I'd ask the owners. Trying to find a grill for a tabletop/built-in setup. At first I thought I could drop the grease tray through a cutout and empty it from inside the base cabinet, but now I see that the ash pan is at about the same height as the bottom of the hopper, so there'd be no way to remove it for cleaning.

Question for a Bullseye Deluxe owner

Hoping someone can break out a tape measure to help! I'm wondering what the total width of the grill is with the ash tray extended. I'm thinking of using it an outdoor kitchen and will have space constraints. Mostly like the X but the BD is a possibility. Thanks!

Looking for people to try new restaurants

41M but I really don't care about your age or gender. I have a long list of restaurants I want to try but it would be more fun to go with other people. Could be a good opportunity to make some new connections. I'm on the western side of town so mostly prefer places over here but could be convinced to travel a ways.

I figure a 3- or 4-person group is best. Some things about me: I like photography, watching sports, grilling, playing video games, reading, and would like to get into some type of club sport. Also, my tastes are not fancy. I'll take a great local taco joint over a ritzy place on the Strip any day. Big fan of buffets as well. Who's in?

Good pellet grill for griddling?

Forgive me as I know very little about pellet grills, but I'm trying to decide on what my next grill will be for my upcoming outdoor kitchen. I like the idea of a griddle but am tempted by a pellet grill as well, as my Konnected Joe doesn't have a ton of space for big cooks. So, is griddling on a pellet grill a good idea, and are some grills better at it than others? Bonus points if it's configured in a way where it can be used in a built-in/tabletop setup, without the cart. For now, let's assume cost is not a factor. Thanks!

Has anybody managed a built-in/tabletop setup?

I'm trying to decide on my next grill for when I build an outdoor kitchen and would really love to use an MB gravity, but I don't really see any way to incorporate it into the kitchen. Venting out the back would also be a problem if I put it against the wall.

Tonight's Dinner: Rotisserie Wings!

My first time making wings, I believe. Seasoned them with Meat Church's The Gospel, brined them in buttermilk overnight, took them out and let the skin air dry in the fridge for an hour, re-seasoned with Whiskey Bent Blazin Bird, and threw them in the basket. Then I thought, why not add my potato wedges too? Put it over the coals at 350 degrees, grilled for 40 minutes, then removed the wedges and half the wings and tossed the wings with Blues Hog Wild Wing sauce. Added them back in and cooked another 5 minutes. Both the wings and wedges turned out excellent! I found I preferred the sauced ones, but only slightly. They only had a little sauce flavor. I double sauce my ribs (which I highly recommend) and will do that with the wings next time. I also might try adding a little corn starch for extra crispness, but really no complaints tonight. If you've never wet brined chicken make sure to give it a try, you'll get the juiciest chicken you ever had.

FYI: The easiest way to find forced subtitles

As far as I know, there's no way to see any descriptors on the subtitle files, but I figured out a workaround for easily locating forced subs for the non-English (or whatever language) parts, when the file you're viewing doesn't have them included.

First off, you want to leave the included OpenSubtitles Add-on active (I have the app set to only retrieve English subs). This will allow you to find full subtitles when you need them.

Create an account at https://subsource.net/ so you can create an API key in the dashboard, and enter it at https://subsource.strem.top/configure .

Choose your desired language. Uncheck all subtitle type boxes EXCEPT Forced, and exclude Hearing Impaired. Choose your platform.

Hit Install and copy in the add-on link.

Now, when you go to the Addons tab in Subtitles in your video, the SubSource option will ONLY return forced subtitles, so you know that's the one you want to select. Hope this helps!

Nuvio freezes when exiting playback

Windows PC, version 0.1.13-alpha (13). Playing TB Instant files with the 3HPM addon bundle.

I watch a show or movie, and it plays fine, can pause and everything, but when I hit the X or press Escape to go back to the home page, the app freezes up. It displays a black screen and can't be interacted with in any way, and I have to close it with Task Manager, which says it's "not responding." This just randomly started happening a couple days ago. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Can't upgrade to Windows 11 - Rolls back to 10

I put it off for a long time but for the last three days I've been trying to update from Windows 10 to 11. Jumped through a bunch of hoops to be able to turn on Secure Boot, updated my BIOS and made sure TPM 2.0 was enabled. The update downloads and installs, then it restarts a few times, then it says there was an error and it needs to restart. Does that a couple times then says it's reverting back to a previous version. Not sure where to go from here. Maybe some drivers need to be updated? If there's some error log you'd like me to post I'm happy to do it, just point me in the right direction. Thank you!

Let's talk affordable charcoal

There are a few brands of briquettes that you can get for around 50 cents per pound:

Kirkland

Kingsford, standard and professional

Cowboy

B&B (usually)

Probably some others as well. Got a preference? Particularly helpful if you've tried 2 or more of them. Discuss!

Problems with SDR content on projector

Projector: Epson 5040UB

Receiver: Yamaha TSR-7850

Connected to PC with HDMI.

This has been an issue for years but I haven't tried to fix it because it's only an occasional problem. Basically, a lot of content looks awful on my projector. The colors are red and screwed up, and it's super dark. Even the receiver's splash screen or my laptop through both HDMI and USB-C. Some, but not all, video games. I THINK this happens with SDR content. When I switch the Windows display settings from HDR to SDR, everything look bad. In the attached image you can see the projector displaying both a good and bad image simultaneously. They're the same video file, but the left is playing through VLC while the right is playing as a stream through Nuvio. I'm not actually sure what the signal difference is between these two sources, I just thought it was interesting that it could play them differently at the same time. If I switch the HDMI to my computer's monitor, they look identical.

Edit before posting: Played around with the PJ settings a bit. Changing Dynamic Range from HDR-2 to Auto does seem to partially fix the issue - the receiver's splash screen looks normal (while the PJ's info display shows it's displaying in SDR). But this doesn't really solve my problem, which is when an HDR source (Windows) puts the PJ in HDR mode but playing SDR content. Then the content looks super dark. Unless I turn off HDR, I'm unable to play some games or view some content. Any ideas?

Is there a guide to getting the most out of Torbox?

Just recently discovered TB. I get the basics of adding a link and downloading the content, but clearly there is much more it can do. I also see the long list of integrations but don't know what would be useful. Particularly, it would be helpful to streamline the process of finding content and adding it to my dashboard, meaning, not having to search the torrent site, copy the link, then paste it into TB. I have not yet chosen a subscription plan and while I don't mind paying for the Pro plan, I'm not sure if that tier is needed for someone who just wants to watch some movies and shows.

Basically, I'm just trying to get a grasp on how to best enjoy all that TB has to offer. Thanks!

I used the snake method with lump in my Konnected Joe

Doing a long smoke on a kamado can be a pain because you have to remove everything to add wood, so I wanted to see if this method would work for my ribs. Obviously I didn't use the starter ring, I lit it from one end. Took a lot longer to heat up than usual (understandable) but after that it worked perfect! Got great smoky flavor. The Konnected regulates the temperature for me so using lump for this was less of a concern than it might be in a kettle. Used up about 2/3 of the charcoal after being lit for around 7 hours.
