Regarding the expiration date of the straightening products

Hello,

I specialize in hair straightening treatments, though I am not a cosmetic chemist (I’m hoping Perry might weigh in on this).

I would like to know more about the expiration dates indicated by manufacturers on these products—whether they are glyoxyloyl carbocysteine-based or formaldehyde-releasing formulas.

Beyond safety concerns, I am interested in the impact on efficacy: once the product has been opened or has passed the date marked on the bottle, to what extent does its straightening power diminish?

Does it drop off rapidly and significantly, and what is the underlying chemical process?

Lasagna [homemade]

Cleaning the oven was a hassle, but when it bubbles over like that, I know I'm in for a treat, lol. I made it with a Bolognese sauce that had simmered for 10 hours and then rested in the fridge.

My sister is angry with me. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?

I've had five miscarriages, no living children. I've been trying to be a mother for seven and a half years.

My little sister just gave birth; she got pregnant on her first ovulation after she started trying to conceive, then had a perfect pregnancy and delivery, and now she's a perfect mom with a perfect baby. Yes, I sound jealous because I am.

But I still made an effort to check in on her, even though she didn't check in on me during my miscarriages or my divorce. And now she says I wasn't involved enough and that she doesn't accept how I treated her, and that my miscarriages don't excuse everything.

Frankly, I'm disappointed. I mean, if I had ignored her, OK, but did I check in on her? What was the minimum for her was the maximum for me, and her reaction really hurts me...

Has this ever happened to you from a sister?

your exact quantities for a large lasagna dish

Hey

For one really large dish (or two medium ones) of lasagna alla bolognese, what quantities do you use?

How much flour and eggs for the homemade pasta?

How much tomato and meat for the ragù?

How much for the béchamel sauce?

And how much cheese?

Every time I want to make a large lasagna, I struggle to have enough ingredients to get at least five layers.

edit : I wasn't really looking for advice for myself in this post, but I was genuinely curious to know everyone's quantities and compare the answers. That's why I asked for the quantities.

reflection

Hello

I was just thinking how well-written Katniss and Snow are. I find these characters rich; I feel like we know them, that we can analyze them, etc. Then I realized I don't have that feeling about Haymitch, even though he also has his own book.

I don't know him that well; I hardly know what he's thinking, since he almost exclusively repeats what Lenore Dove says, does, or thinks.

I hardly know what he's thinking because he spends most of his time telling me what he sees.

He was written for the television audience, while Katniss and Snow were written for the readers.

What do you think? I appreciate reading different opinions. I've only read the series three times.

HG are my favorite books and I reread them often; it's the same for many of you, so I'm interested in your suggestions.

I really enjoy fantasy in general (Game of Thrones, Outlander, HP etc).

I especially love dystopian fiction (my favorite being The Hunger Games; I also really enjoyed 1984 and The Long Walk).

I'm much less into science fiction, so I haven't read The Labyrinth or the 100 yet, for example, but maybe I could give them a try.

I'm 29 years old, and I've read other types of books, including classic literature, but I realized with The Hunger Games that this is what I prefer and want to continue reading.

I couldn't get into Battle Royale because of the Japanese titles...

What are your favorite similar works?

I've heard of Divergent and Ugly, but I haven't tried them either, for fear that they're too juvenile or too far-fetched and incoherent (although that doesn't necessarily bother me, but then it has to be a masterpiece that can be read at any age).

I mean, HG is also aimed at teenagers, but I find it very mature and well-suited for adults as well. The characters have real depth, especially Snow and Katniss, and the world is very well-constructed. It's not just a basic premise pulled out of thin air with teenagers and a rebellion thrown in, you know?

But maybe you'll convince me! I'm also thinking as I write this that I haven't read The Handmaid's Tale or seen the show, so I don't know how good it is? Thanks for your replies!

Edit: Thank you all for your answers.

I'm afraid I'll never succeed

I've had five miscarriages in seven years.

The first was a blighted ovum, then I had a hemorrhage outside my country, which resulted in a curetage without anesthesia... and it wasn't even an aspiration, it was with a curette, like they did 60 years ago...

Then I had an early miscarriage at about five weeks. The embryo wouldn't descend after four days of pain, so they gave me medication, but it still got stuck. A second curretage, this time an aspiration under anesthesia... apparently the embryo was normal.

Then I had an ectopic pregnancy, followed by a pregnancy of unknown location, and finally, I'm currently having a biochemical miscarriage.

I'm having tests done as needed because they're expensive, and frankly, I don't feel like gynecologists are as invested as I am.

Everyone around me seems to have children easily; my little sister is due in three weeks, and I feel so sad and hopeless.

11 22 63 and the dark tower

Hello,

i read here that there might be a link between 11.22.63 and The Dark Tower (Yellow Card Man).

Could someone who has read The Dark Tower explain what you know about it that readers of 11.22.63 don't?

Thank you.

Sorry for any mistakes, I'm using a translator.

What was a typical day like for a French peasant from the Third Estate during the 1700s?

I'm interested in the daily life of an ordinary French peasant in the 18th century (roughly 1700–1789), particularly someone from the Third Estate such as a day laborer, cultivator, or small farmer.

What would a typical day have looked like? What did they usually eat on a daily basis, what were their living conditions and homes like, and how did their lifestyle vary depending on their occupation or region?

I'm looking for as much historical detail as possible.

matrilineal lineage

Hello, I have a question.

After some research, I understand that if the matrilineal line is unbroken, then the person is Jewish even if it's 15 generations back, as long as it's from mother to daughter.

I'm simply wondering, let's imagine that the great-great-great-grandmother becomes Christian (although this isn't recognized in Jewish law) in the year 1500, and then, from mother to daughter, the religion was Christianity until the descendant of this line, 15 generations later, has no Jewish religious or cultural heritage.

How is this person considered? (Assuming that this is confirmed beyond any doubt, no break in the matrilineal line, but complete assimilation into another people and another religion to the point of no longer belonging to the Jewish community.)

Sorry, this is a bit unclear; I tried to be clear so I'd be understood, and I'm using a translator.

I am interested in this from a purely theoretical perspective, eager to learn more about Jewish law.

Some questions for a first experience

Hello,

My husband is doing a water fast (he consumes sodium and magnesium) and I'd like to support him as best I can.

Can he drink "milk serum/lactic acid" (a mixture of milk, water, yeast, etc.) ?

Vegetable broths?

Meat broths like chicken carcasses or beef bones?

I'd also appreciate some advice on what to cook for him during his first few days of reintroducing food...

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Lasagna

I was a bit heavy-handed with the cheese, and my ragù is still a little acidic despite the milk and at least 8 hours of simmering, but it's so good! I'm tired now.

For the pasta, the classic recipe: 400g of 00 flour and 4 eggs. I make a well in the center of the flour and beat the eggs with a fork.

I knead for 8-10 minutes, then cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for almost an hour.

I divide my dough in two to make it easier to roll out. I roll each piece out first with a rolling pin, then cut it and pass it through a pasta machine once. I don't stack the pieces.

I drop each piece, one after the other, into 2 liters of salted water with 20g of salt. When it rises to the surface, I plunge it into cold water and drain it on a clean tea towel. I repeat this process, without stacking the pieces.

My ragù is made with beef only, and I added more tomato than usual. I also added onion, carrot, and celery stalks, along with pepper and salt at the end of cooking, and half a glass of whole milk. I always simmer it for at least 6 hours.

I made a classic béchamel sauce because I like lasagna with béchamel, even though I know it's a divisive dish among Italians. My nonna used to put it in too. She also added a hard-boiled egg, polpettine (very small meatballs), and I can't remember what kind of ham... she was from the South.

I used Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.

What did Frank want?

His motivations are still unclear to me, as are his feelings for Jamie.

He stayed with Claire to raise Bree, forbidding Claire from talking about Jamie or researching him.

Then we learn that he did, he knew Jamie had survived Culloden, that Claire would join him because of a newspaper article mentioning the incident, and he knew Jamie would die during the Battle of Kings Mountain.

We also know he wrote that book, detailing the battle and specifying that Jamie would die, for Brianna's benefit... but why?

What was his goal? And why did he prepare Brianna at that time by teaching her history, shooting, and riding? Just in case?

Did he, like Jamie, have some kind of respect/gratitude for the other because he knew he would look after the people he loved?

I need to know more, lol. I'm quite confused about him. I haven't read the books.

A thought while rereading tbosas

Although Snow had always been self-centered, narcissistic, and a fervent supporter of the Capitol, I think the fact that, at the beginning of the book, his source of comfort was his mother’s powder compact, whereas by the end it was his father’s compass, really illustrates his final moral descent.

Snow told Katniss that the bombs were because he needed the whole country to know it wasn't him

Just a thought, even though it's established, while rereading TBOSAS. When Coryo thinks he's going to be arrested and executed, he's glad Lucy Gray survives him because "she knows he's a good person."

>His eyes filled with tears. They would hang him, but she would be there, knowing he was still a genuinely good person. Not a monster who'd cheated or betrayed his friend, but someone who'd really tried to be noble in impossible circumstances.

He never cares about anything other than the image he projects.
