Is someone here active in the official BBR Discord...

...that can tell me if the devs are still active there? I hang out in there sometimes about a year ago and occasionally the german dev, I think he was "the liquid horse" guy (but I could be wrong about that) wrote a few messages in the german channel. Sometimes he was even talking a bit about the state of the development of the update. Is that still the case? Have the devs said something new in there that we other people that are not active in the discord may have missed?

Additionally: Have some of y'all registered for the "performance tester role"? Has there been a performance playtest already? If the answer is yes, how has it been?

How is it possible that 1047 Games map design got progressively worse?

Today I watched a video that the YT algorithm recommended to me from nadestraight about how he thinks that SG1 is a better game than SG2/AR because of content quantity but especially also because of map quality. So I watched the gameplay footage of SG1 of said video and a lot of memories came up inside my head (just so you know I haven't played SG1 in roughly 2 years or so). I remembered all the cool maps that SG1 had. I continued to watch some other SG1 gameplay videos just to admire but also to remember the cool map design and especially how diverse they played and looked. I totally forgot how much I liked the maps of SG1 and it makes me sad that my biggest complain about the new 1047 Games is their map design while they were capable to do it the right way with their first game 5-7 years ago.

My biggest problem with Splitgate 2/AR and especially Empulse is how uninspired their new maps are. Besides Hammerhead all of the new maps that got released after SG1 just look boring and uninspired and they all play the same way. I remember how much I loved the vertical gameplay of Olympus or the cool art direction of highwind or Crag in SG1. Even Stadium in SG1 looks so much more interesting than in SG2/AR. Two of the best maps of SGAR, Karman Station and Abyss, come from SG1. What happened? Have all the good maps designers been fired?

Empulse is the low of the barrel. Potentially the worst maps I've ever seen in a MP FPS. All the maps look like asset flips and their art direction is so boring it looks like they were AI generated. Additionally not one of Empulse maps influence how a match plays out. The bad quality of the maps was an important reason why I stopped playing Empulse because after 50 hours I wasn't able to bear them anymore.

Good map design is essential for every arena shooter. If you mess that up there is no hope for your game because the flow of the map is the only thing that can bring some dynamics into the matches that can potentially keep the gameplay fresh even after your 100th match. I would love to know how is it possible that the devs unlearned how to design maps? How is it possible that 1047 Games created some of the best maps that I've ever played and then release the maps of Empulse?

Could someone explain to me like I am 5 why the market struggles so much to go up when buyers dominate the auction so clearly?

So what I've learned when I started getting into orderflow was that market orders move the market. Limit orders can only absorb the force of market orders like creating a form of support or resistance. Then why is it possible that the market can go down on rising delta? Yeah price is rising again right now but price still struggles to go up compared to the delta that is behind it. But before that price went down with a rising CVD. How is that possible and what does it mean? I've seen this more regularly over the last 2-3 months and it creates some of the worst price action

London Session was by far my favorite session to trade but this summer hole is untradeable

I know, quite a few US indices traders like to clown us London session traders because of "low liquidity" but when you don't move millions or billions in the market why would you care? The reason why I loved London session so much was because it provided insanely clean price action and it didn't move as hectic and fast as NY. Sometimes trading London session felt like stealing candy from a toddler. It was insanely easy to get a read on the market and if you put your stop at intelligent levels you did not have to worry about getting fished too much.

But since summer vacation here in Europe started London session became a dumpster fire. The orderbook is so thin that anything can happen at any time. A bit bigger order than usual hits either the bid or the ask and price directly has an insane reaction to it. Price and orderflow make less sense every day. It just makes me sad what they did to my boy. I could have never imagined me saying this but right now NY is 10 times better than London session. I hope that this nightmare is over in a few weeks so that my old friend becomes its former self again in all his glory

the level of chop is insane right now. Am I alone with this opinion?

I am not a beginner. I have quite a deep understanding about trading and I've build a really good strategy that easily can adapt to changing market conditions. It's a combination of simple orderflow and volume tools and solid price action concepts that are build on years of experience. Just to be clear, I trade ES futures.

I feel like price action behaves more and more chaotic since the Iran conflict started and this week is extreme. 90% of price action consists of fakeouts on top of fakouts. Even when a bullish breakout fails bulls keep trying to defend price on dying volume. We are clearly going down again since bulls can't find enough other willing buyers to start a trend or even just a clean move, but before we can finally go down back into the range again I get stopped out 2 times by bulls throwing everything they've got into the market just so the 4th or 5th attend of a breakout can fail what was clear from the beginning. What is this type of price action? I am in this game for 5 years and I haven't seen anything like that before. How wide do I have to make my stop to survive this chop? Especially when you follow orderflow nothing makes sense anymore. It feels like bears and bulls just throw money at the market without ever considering what is going on. There is never really either bears or bulls in control. It's all just random zig zag at this point and the few clean moves that happen feel like an exception.

As you already probably detected I am quite frustrated. I would like to know if I am the only one that experiences price this way. Maybe someone out there has a tipp for me that could help to get a read on price again.

For 5 years I've searched for an intraday edge and nothing made sense. Support/Resistance was the answer

I am a theory delver type of guy. I love learning about stuff and going very deep into the subject matter. I've been in this game for over 5 years now with no success. I didn't loose much money actually since trading never made sense to me. I've gained an insane amount of knowledge about all kinds of theories, concepts and tools and the more I've learned and the more I backtested (and also forwartested) the more I was convinced that actually nothing works. And the brutal truth is that most what is propagated online in the trading space is total BS. At least 95% of retail strategies don't work (I think 98% actually is the right number) and whoever wants to argue with me about this fact has no clue about trading. I will die on this hill and I know I am right.

But after getting insanely frustrated by failing for such a long time I came across a Robbins cup championship winner called Eugen Denisenko. He doesn't produce english content but thankfully I am german. He works with the heatmap and also with volume profile but his approach also emphasizes support/resistance a lot. I've watched some of his live trading sessions and what surprised me was how good his Support/Resistance signals were. I then backtested and forwardtested support/resistance and the results blew my mind. It's not just that S/R plays a crucial role in price action behaviour, the probabilities that you can extract from this concept as long as you understand how price has to react to these levels is insane.

I wasted over 5 years of my life to decipher the secrets of trading to find the answers that I needed were hidden behind the most popular technical analysis concept in existence. I know everything about orderflow, ICT and everything else. I see the value in orderflow and volume analysis but based on my experience it is not enough.

How price reacts to support/resistance zones was the answer that I was looking for for such a long time. It is not as easy as trading every rejection candle at such a key level, but when you study these type situations for a while you will figure out when it is the right time to enter.

Just to be clear: Everything in trading is dependent on the current market regime. You have to be able to adapt or otherwise the market will change and leave you behind. I understand that there are times when you have to trade the rejection of S/R zones and there are other market regimes and contexts when it is wise to trade the breakouts but therefore Support/Resistance zones are a crazy dynamic tool that can adapt to the current market conditions like no other concept. And the best thing is they change with changes in volatility and volume/orderflow dynamics just by themselves. They are the most dynamic concept in existence based on my experience. When I've learned one thing in my career as a trader then it is that the concepts that you are using have to be dynamic and therefore being able to adapt to changing market conditions. Otherwise you have to change your approach all the time

I don't understand the advantage of footprint charts

So a few months ago I became a Support/Resistance fanatic. For years I have been searching for a dynamic but strong edge that is able to adapt to market regime changes and I still can't wrap my head around why It took me so long to find out how powerful this concept is when it is probably the most well known technical concept out there (probably why it works so well). And don't come at me with your "liquidity grab" bs because a fakeout is the ultimate confirmation for a support/resistance zone but I digress.

So I had to find out that timing your entries at support or resistance is often not as easy as I thought it would be. Often at these levels price will get a bit choppy before it finally turns around. I've build an understanding based on price action of how to enter at a time where the probabilities are on my side but then I thought "orderflow could potentially put my entries and my winrate on another level" because that is what the more advanced traders do. I used the more simlpe OF tools before like the big trades indicator or the CVD so I already had some understanding of how orderflow works and how to interpret it but I thought that this time I will use tools for the adults.

So for the last 3-4 weeks I've been studying footprint charts like a maniac. I've watched countless videos and I observed every interaction of price and S/R zones through the footprint chart. I used a template of Quantower that didn't just show me the bid and the ask but also the volume profile and the delta profile of each candle and not gonna lie: The more I looked at it the more useless this tool seems to be, at least for my usecase to confirm the rejection of price at a S/R zone. There is literally an absorption in every rejection candle and there is most of the time no difference between the rejection candle that get swept and the one that forms right before price finally reverses. The only thing that I realized is that absorptions of volume anomalies are high probability setups. Lets say for the last 30 candles on average we had 2k contracts sold in each candle but at the support level a candle with 4k sold contracts got absorbed. This high volume aggression absorption is a high probability entry but these anomalies happen very rarely, The other very rare high probability absorption is if at support a rejection candle forms but with a strong negative delta print. Everything else actually feels like noise

But to spot these high probability absorptions I just need a CVD and the classic volume indicator. I feel like my old and very simple way to use orderflow through the big trades indicator and the CVD gave me much cleaner signals. What am I missing? I've watched so many videos about footprint charts, probably every video there is on youtube and they all say the same: look for absorptions of aggressive buyers or sellers at a POI but again, that happens in every rejection candle that gets swept later. Footprint charts are said to be this magical tool that give you a look inside price action that will transform your trading but I am quite disappointed to be honest. It's all noisee and the few clean and high probability signals happen very rarely.

The way I confirmed my setups before based on price action actually works much much better. Maybe you can get higher RR ratios when you enter at the first sign of aggression being absorbed but not without getting stopped out a lot, especially when price is so choppy like in the current market regime. Maybe someone can enlighten me but I feel like a wasted a ton of time for nothing. At least I understand now how great the CVD indicator actually is

This is soul crushing

Sub 1k players on a friday evening is crazy. The truth is that everybody besides the people at 1047 Games knew that releasing a pay-to-play FPS title into early access in this market environment was not the smartest idea but that it would be so bad so fast is unbelievable.

As much fun as I have with the game it was just not ready for an early-access release, especially not with a price tag. To be bluntly honest, the game feels like a really good prototype but nothing more. The game has no eye catching artstyle, the maps look like asset flips and the features that should make the game stand out, the mechs and the paint bombs, feel half-baked and unbalanced.

The game needs to become free-to-play asap even when it's unfair for us who paid money for it because otherwise we will be sitting in queues for ages in just a few weeks. The game only has a chance when the game gets back into development to make something out of the potential that Empulse clearly has but if future updates just contain some balancing patches and some additional content I fear that the chance of Empulse getting some traction is nearly zero.

I love the Percussion to death, but....

....the truth is it is overpowered. I love the weapon but playing with it feels wrong because I feel like I abuse the balancing of the weaponry. It does too much damage while giving the player an additional advantage based on the AoE damage the weapon does.

I love the way this weapon feels because It resembles the Phasma of Splitgate 2/AR that I felt was by far the most fun weapon of Splitgate.

My suggestion would be to lower the rate of fire and also to lower the velocity of the projectiles to make it more like the Phasma. The Phasma was always powerful but it was very hard to hit enemies over long distances because of the slow velocity of its missliles. There is nothing wrong with having a hard hitting AoE weapon in the game but it has to be very difficult to hit targets with it to balance the strong damage of the weapon and right now it is far too easy with the Percussion. With a lower velocity of its missiles and a lower rate of fire the weapon would become less viable for more ranged targets and therefore you have to become good at positioning, movement and also at predicting where your opponent will move to get the full potential out of the weapon. That would balance the weapon and also make the Percussion even more satisfying to use

Edit: if people don't agree with this post I will continue to annihilate most of you with zero skill

No post has been made that says it so I will have to say it: Yesterdays patch is a good step in the right direction

Finally the movement flows again. The game feels so much better since the patch got released yesterday. I played a couple of hours straight because it was so much fun. I have to say how they balanced movement and the Speed Paint feels good to me. Maybe it got a bit too easy to get to maximum speed but I feel like this is debateable.

But I am not a pro gamer who has a deeper understanding and a lot of experience with these things so it would be interesting to know if I am the only one who feels like this

Do you experience hit registration errors too?

I think it is well established by now that the hitboxes of Empulse are not ideal. But additionally I experienced quite a few situations where my shots clearly should have hit the enemy but no damage got registered. But on the other side I experienced a few times that I hit enemies that I shouldn't be able to hit because they went behind cover like behind the corner of a wall. Am I the only person with this problem?

This is another good reason to implement the ping number in the scoreboard. If I would know my ping then this would clear things up. Now I don't know if it's the fault of my internet, or if I am just playing with people from Asia or the US (I am from Europe) or if there is something wrong with the game itself. To me it never made sense why 1047 Games never disclosed our ping numbers, it just doesn't make sense.

How to confirm rejection at a key level?

So I've been trying to confirm rejections at support/resistance levels with the more simple OF tools like Big trades and CVD. While I still like both of those tools a lot I often think to myself that maybe I could get better confirmations if I utilize the footprint chart instead of derivatives of it. What are you guys looking for in a footprint chart to confirm that price is respecting a key level? I've been looking at the footprint chart last week for a while and the more I look at it the more I get confused. How do you differentiate between a strong absorption that matters and one that doesn't matter?

The Operation Overhaul Teaser was dropped exactly 1 year ago

Back then I thought that this would mean that we would get our hands on the update in the near future. It's insane to think about how little actually happened since the release of this trailer besides a failed playtest. Why did they even release this teaser back then when the update wasn't close to completion? And why does it take them so long to fix the audio memory leak? I mean the playtest was 7 months ago. I hope that we learn in the future what happened during the development of the update. It's really bizarre at this point how much time they've invested into this update still without giving us a rough time horizon for the release

I know this is controversial but hear me out...

For a long time now I have the strong opinion that finding strategies with a real and reliable edge is insanely dfficult and complex and that one of the best ways to find reliable edges is to implement some discretionary and dynamic market reading skills into your trading approach. The reason why is because your mind is capable to understand a much more complex and dynamic context compared to a simple algorithm.

The trading education industry and also a ton of people in this sub love to tell the narrative that trading should be simple and easy and your strategy should consist of only a few mechanical and easy to execute rules to make trading as simple as possible. Their message is that the edge comes from good psychology and good risk management (both very important parts of trading without a doubt).

But in my opinion their definition of a good strategy is far too simple. They basically try to use a one-dimensional solution (mechanical strategy) for a multi-dimensional problem (dynamic and always changing markets). My whole experience that I collected in the markets over 5.5 years tells me that this approach is a dead end. The more I understood that markets are dynamic and that I have to learn the skill to adapt to the current market regime the more trading made sense to me after years of pure confusion. I tested so many approaches, strategies and concepts and nearly nothing provided an edge the way they are taught online.

And today I feel like I found the perfect argument for this point and I am really interested in your counter arguments. Hear me out: If finding an edge is so simple like a lot of people like to pretend it is, and the real obstacles of trading are psychology and risk-management mostly, then why is not every algorithmic trader profitable? A bot has no problem with psychology or a consistent risk-management approach. An algorithm can follow rules like no human. It is all they can do. But go into r/algotrading, you will find posts and comments of a ton of people struggleing. Algorithmic trading is not easier. They struggle too with changing market environments. All they do is trying to hedge their portfolios of multiple strategies so that they are less impacted by changing market regimes and they still have to adjust their bots every few months.

If you accept the fact that markets are dynamic and that you can not just trade 1 simple and mechanical strategy in all market environments (especially as a daytrader), then you understand why trading is much more complicated and complex than it is portrayed online. This is by far the most important lesson I've learned in my career that helped me become profitable. It opened my eyes to the hidden difficulties of trading and what to do to to actually beat the market.

I hope this helps some people who are stuck and lost on this journey. I had to go through a lot of pain to learn this so I hope I can save some people of going through the same hell like I had to go through.

So I have a ES 1 minute breakout strategy that I love to death and it made me profitable since november of last year. The strategy has a phenomenal average RR while maintaing a very stable 50% winrate. I never thought that a strategy actually could perform so great. But then the Iran conflict started and I had more than 10 losses in a row. The strategy that worked beatifully just 2 weeks ago stopped working entirely. After accepting that my strategy lost it's edge I decided to observe the market instead of continuing to trade and loose even more money. I realized that price was not just far more volatile but also much more rangebound than before (no wonder a 1 minute breakout strategy lost it's edge in that environment) and so I started to get into range/consolidation/mean-reversion trading (however you want to call it) and I applied it to the 15 minute chart to avoid all the crazy choppiness. Then the insane relief rally happened so of course the 15 minute mean-reversion strategy logically also lost it's edge, but my breakout strategy would have performed insanely well on the 5 minute chart (the high volatility would have stopped me out too often on the 1 minute timeframe). Now that we started to range again since the uptrend stalled my 15 minute mean-reversion strategy started working again like a charm and I was able to make good money again.

It took me far too long to realize this but I sat down with a beer yesterday and thought about my trading since the beginning of the conflict and how my trading has evolved since then and then it hit me like a train: This chaotic market environment caused by the onflict in Iran gave me one of the most important lessons of my trading career: You can't apply 1 strategy to all market envirnoments. You have to adjust your trading to the current market regime. It is stupid to trade a 1 minute breakout strategy during a geopolitical conflict that causes price to range a lot in a very choppy way but it is also stupid to apply a mean reversion strategy when price then is creating the most impressive recovery rally in the history of the SP500.

In trading education space trading is portrayed like you have to master 1 strategy and then just follow your rules. I just learned that this couldn't be further from the truth. Sadly trading is much more difficult and complicated then that. Trading requires at least the discretionary skill to detect the current market condition and then apply the right strategy in the right way. I came to the conclusion that you probably should have at least 1 strategy for a trending market envirnonment like a breakout strategy and 1 strategy for a ranging market environment and then apply them accordingly to the market regime. Also it is probably not a bad idea to choose the right timeframe according to the market volatility. It is probably not a bad idea to go up the timeframe ladder a bit when volatility picks up like during a crash or a geopolitical conflict.

The thing is, if you tell to someone that has no idea about trading that as a trader you have to adjust your way of trading to the current market condition then he/she would probably say "yeah, that sounds logical". But as someone who was in this industry for more than 5 years this was the first time I really thought about this. I feel really embarrassed because it is so logical and obvious that you can't trade any strategy in every environment. This explains so much about the confusion that I had about finding realiable strategies. But to be fair, which one of the gurus or trading influencers really emphasizes and teaches this? I can't think of anyone who teaches different strategies for different market regimes, how to recognize the current market environment and how adjust when the market changes?

I feel like I've gained a totally new perspective on trading. This makes trading a lot harder since you can't hide behind a few simple rules but I think I finally know now what to focus on to succeed in this game longterm.

I hope this helps someone else who struggles with this chaotic market environment.
