Forest Service to Remove Your Voice from Public Lands Decisions
A new proposal would shrink the public’s right to comment on the rulebooks that govern grazing, logging, and permits across the national forests.

Stoked to paddle this one clean. I hit it 2 years ago and flipping over on the landing, it felt so good to come back and land it clean.
I’m posting this here because this affects one of our cherished rivers. I have not had a chance to paddle it through Big Bend yet, but I hope to and I really hope there is not a border wall, let alone some ridiculous security lights and monitors through the corridor. This is just one facet of the oligarchic smash and grab on our public lands.
A forester once told me: “trees are the answer”
I don't remember going through sharp bushes but dam my Dry Suit had some serious holes in it. I've owned it now for 4 years and Kokatat fixed it no questions asked. But I am a little concerned about the amount of patches they had to do.
The Creek water was being diverted so I just followed the water. It was fun enough I'd do it again. Finding Winter time paddling around Denver isn't easy.
First time dehydrating bacon. But it seems like all I did was dry some fat. I’m guessing I should’ve used better bacon with more meat in it.
This will raise our natural gas prices through the roof!!!
Not only that, but they’re also trying to build one running off coal in Matsu! But there’s 0 infrastructure for that which Alaskans would be on the hook for tax wise paying for!

I bought a block of cheddar, shredded it. Dried it out real well to the point it is brittle and "clanks" the bowl. But it is still oily and when put in the blender it gets a bit clumpy. I was planning on making my own Mac N' Cheese backpacking meal. I'm not sure what to do with it now? Any suggestions or should I just buy a bag of commercially dried powder? Also if I make my backpacking meal even with commercial powder should I use an O2 absorber still? I've heard you shouldn't use O2 absorbers with things like dehydrated milk and cheese?
Thanks in advance all.
I had a great interview with Dan Smith about his solo wilderness paddle down the Hess River in Yukon Territory. Please check it out and let me know what you think and what I missed, or could have done better.
I'm outfitting my canoe for a far flung trip and have come to the realization that a set of float bags would be a helpful bit of safety gear. However I loath giving up the storage space. Anyone have any suggestions for float bags that are also dry bags? All I've found is for Kayaks
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I appreciate the thoughtful responses below. I will try to address some of those comments here.
I’m well aware of bear containers and the options and the pros and cons of all of them.
All dry bags will float but will leak at some point if subjected to enough pounding by liquid.
I’m looking for an option like picture above where I can add positive air pressure to it as needed.
While blue food barrels are standard in Canada, I don’t need one at this point, and since I will still have to get a compliant food container, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for this trip.
I’m really looking for a larger version of what is pictured above if one exists? At this point, I’m toying around with making my own.
Went to test out my Kokotat Dry Suit and all appendages leaked! Think I'm going to try and send it back for warranty repair although I've had it 3 years. Anyone else have any experience with this?
Dan and I talk about his recent solo adventure paddling down the Hess River in Yukon Territory Canada. Dan lives in the UK and runs an outdoor adventure education company in addition to being a part time professional adventurer. We talk about his solo float trip on the Hess River, gear he used, aspects of planning a wilderness trip, running whitewater alone, near misses on the river, what its like to have a family and juggle the need to spend days on the land away from civilization, why we need it and much more. So please listen on podcast platforms or watch on Youtube as there are some visuals that go along with the conversation.
Anyone ever use this or know about it? I usually just get river news and flows from AW. Those in Europe or elsewhere is there an equivalent to AW? If there is post a link.
This is such a loss, I feel this in my soul. There is still a path to block it via the state of MN. I'll post more info about how to do that soon. It does seem that if the Congressional map flips there is a chance we can alter the situation. If that doesn't work I hope people are able to organize physical disruption. It is criminal that corporations can just buy our legislators and thwart the will of the people. Especially as united as the people seem to be about protecting the BWCA and other public treasures. If you are a republican or someone who thinks mining around the BWCA is a good idea please show some backbone and explain why is your science different?
