I didn't get on the SP Bandwagon until Last Rights, so I only listened to Rabies retrospectively. But even then, I remember thinking it sounded way less like SP than Vivisect or Cleanse, Fold. Obviously, Al Jourgenson had a big influence on the sound, but I'm just curious what SP fans from before Rabies thought when it came out. I could easily see people saying they sold out and were trying to be an industrial-metal band from tracks like Tin Omen, Fascist Jock Itch, or even Rodent. I had something of this impression when Front Line Assembly put out Millennium.

I have always had the impression (rightly or wrongly) that SP was essentially cEvin and Dwayne composing the music with Ogre writing lyrics/singing. And for instrumental tracks, I'd always assumed they were just cEvin or cEvin/Dwayne tracks that never got vocals for whatever reason. Maybe Ogre grabbing a dialog sample from a movie occasionally... Is this true? If not, are there some good examples of Ogre doing more, musically? Or on the flip side, does anyone have any evidence of cEvin writing lyrics/singing at all?

I am not one to buy a new (to me) vehicle every couple of years. I've driven my '09 Honda Fit for 15 years and have had to do very little maintenance on it. I've been toying with the idea of selling it while it is still doing alright and getting a newer vehicle (ideally, under 50k miles). But I'm curious what that will look like long-term. Note, I drive very few miles (typically <10 per day, with a few weekend errands) with several 1500+ mile road trips per year.
I feel like each vehicle type has its financial pros and cons:

-ICE - higher overall fuel costs, but most options, and probably (maybe?) cheapest insurance.

-PHEV - great for my scenario, but the complexity of both EV and ICE in one, but match my driving habits best.

-EV - in theory, simpler, with fewer moving parts. But newer tech that may not be tried and tested. Also seem to be most depreciated, which gives me more purchasing power.

I came very close to pulling the trigger on a used Nissan Ariya for $20k, but decided I didn't drive enough to make sense with my usage patterns, and it would have been a real financial stretch for me. A used PHEV (like a C-Max Energi, or a Bolt) would likely match my usage patterns better overall, and yes, I have a way to charge.

I'd like whatever I buy to be something I drive for at least a decade, and I want to keep an eye out for whatever that is going to be for the next year or two (maybe more). I like the footprint of the Fit, but would be fine up to something the size of the Ariya (crossover). Maybe I'll somehow find one of the new Prius Primes at a steal in a couple of years...

Biology teacher here. I tend to give homework that is short YouTube videos and/or reading from an OpenStax Bio text. I am trying to use Gemini (our school has an educator account to include a higher-tier service) to create a doc file template that I then import into Gemini via the Form Builder add-on. There is currently no way I'm aware of to directly create the form without making a doc first. The prompting is to create a set of summative multiple-choice questions along with two formative questions (these last two are the same regardless of the material). It works....Sorta. Gemini can make decent enough questions for this purpose, but it keeps tripping up on which YouTube video/reading URL to use for the questions. I often have to prompt it to start over, but even then, it will often goof this part. Also, the form builder is quite clunky at getting even remotely close to what I want to see, and I have to do a lot of cleanup to get it right after the import. When my tech administrator had looked at doing this, he had a "help" wizard button in G-forms that let him simply copy/paste his doc file contents into the help wizard and it perfectly created the form with correct answers and point values.
Has anyone tried anything like what I'm describing with a more streamlined work flow? This feels like something one of the AIs could absolutely tear through, but I'm not seeing it...

I'm curious what the state of residential PV looks like in the Louisville area now. All of the posts I saw were before Solarize Louisville ended.

I'm looking at a '23 Premiere + from a private party sale. I'm a little unclear on what I should expect vs have to pay for. When I test drove, the owner told me that Propilot 2.0 was initially free, then went away, but mysteriously reappeared without him doing anything, but that he thought you had to pay for it... IF that is true, what driving assist features would I have without paying a subscription? Active Cruise control? Lane keeping? Is PP2.0 basically those plus overtaking? And from I just watched from a Nissan demo video, that overtaking requires you to initialize it. Is that correct?

This was something that was initially selling me on the purchase of this model/trim, but if I have to shell out hundreds of dollars per year for it, that changes the calculus a bit.

I have been a proud '09 Fit for nearly 170k miles of its 200k life. While not perfect, I have done a fair bit of maintenance on it. I don't have records in front of me, but I believe I changed the water pump (and maybe the timing chain?) around 100-120k. I had a new compressor for the AC a while back. I've replaced the front suspension and passenger wheel bearing a while back. New spark plugs and transmission fluid/filter at some point. I saw this post about similar questions, but I'm just trying to figure out if I'm on the cusp of vehicle unreliability or major issues. FWIW, it is a '09 Sport AT. I've been weighing my options on selling and getting something newer, but I love my Fit and would like to keep it alive as long as it is practical to do so.

Edit: looking elsewhere it looks like doing a coolant flush would be a good idea at the least...

I'm currently in a 2009 Honda Fit with 200k miles and considering my options.

I am considering PHEVs and would like to hear what you all think would be my best option in the sub $12k range. Ultimately, reliability is the biggest factor here. I only drive a couple of miles to work/short errands, with periodic road trips, so the idea of a PHEV is on the table. I was interested in the Chevy Volt, but it sounds like there have been lots of reliability issues. I hate the look of the 2nd gen Prius Prime, but would consider it.. What SHOULD I be looking at. I've also considered going full BEV and love the 2023 ARIYA I've looked at, but it's a bit outside of my budget, and I'm not sure it is the best vehicle for my use scenario.

I'm in Kentucky, and currently trying to decide between a 2020 Bolt LT ($13k)with 14k miles and a replacement battery that is 1200 miles from finishing the break-in period vs a 2023 Nissan Ariya Premier ($20k) with new tires and 33k miles total. I realize these are different vehicles and a big price gap:

Ariya

-newer with lots of luxury features.  I hear it feels quite premium vs the plasticky Bolt.

-pro-pilot 2 self driving (on the premiere at least) and active cruise control

-larger  -faster charging 

-a bit better range 

-larger and more comfortable

Bolt -Cheaper 

-one pedal drive mode

-easier to find parts for I'd assume 

-fewer things to go wrong, maybe? 

-not as many silly gimmicks (I don't like that the ARIYA has few physical buttons for anything.

I have a short commute (<3miles), so most of my driving is around town. But I do occasionally make long road trips of nearly 700 miles (almost all interstate). I could use my wife's CRV for those, but it's getting up there on miles. I feel like the ARIYA could do it with minimal disruption. I don't have a charger yet, but do have a 30 Amp circuit that could be routed to the garage to install one. I currently have a Honda Fit, so the bolt would be more comparable. The Ariya would be much more of a financial stretch, but seems like the superior vehicle in virtually every metric and it feels like a better deal, overall. I do worry that with so few Ariyas out there, that replacement parts could be a real issue.  Anyone have any thoughts on any of this? I haven't been able to drive either vehicle yet, so that will obviously be a factor.

I never even thought about this until seeing what the prices have been like lately, but is $20k for a Premiere + with 30k miles a reasonable price? It seems like from this sub, that six months ago people would say it is too high, but I worry I missed the boat on the really good deals. I'm not in a must-by situation right now, and can't really afford to buy right now, but I'm tempted.

Second, I have an unused 30 Amp breaker running 10AWG wire that was going to an electric range (that is now gone). I could easily route the line to my garage to a charger. From a casual glance, it looks like this would be fine for the ARIYA. If I were to get something else later, would that be underpowered? I know the ARIYA tends to slow charge comparatively...

Third, if I pull the trigger, could I use the included mobile charger paired to my setup above to charge at the full rate? I seem to have read somewhere that the mobile charger actually supports Level 2 charging. I'm not entirely sure what that would look like in practice for my situation...
