Tires

My recently acquired 2011 Fit Sport is going to need new rubber before next winter. It currently has Firestone FR740. Does anyone have any experience with Yokohama Avid Ascend GT's on their Fit? I have had Yokohama Geolanders twice before on my VW and my Superduty van and really liked them. I live in an in-between area for winter weather. Lots of sleet, ice, and rain with occasional snowfalls. I drive through the country on somewhat questionable roads. If anyone has any experience with the Avid Ascend's your feedback would be most appreciated.

Looking at a 2016 Auto EXL with 30k miles

It’s purple and in great cosmetic condition aside from two rim center caps missing. Looking at it later this morning with my folks. If all checks out, is their asking for $16k fair?

Details:

One owner, near perfect history/title (no accidents)

First oil change at 7k 2ish years in, afterward exactly one every YTD give or take a few weeks

Brake Fluid in 2021/13k

Brake Fluid & Coolant in 2025/27k

Air filters replaced this year

Things it didn’t have were any new sets of tires or new transmission fluid. Will be prying them to produce a record for, or knock off the cost for trans fluid. And check tire DOTs.

I do not know these cars well so if there’s anything I should listen or look for or need to worry about, please let me know! This is the only reasonable one I can consider based on KBB in my whole state, let alone a manual one.

Best place to mount?

I got myself a magsafe phone mount for the Fit and I love it! Using the little side window makes for zero windshield obstruction, which is great.

Where do you all mount your electronics and what mounts do you use?

Fit hack guys

When I bought my car the first thing I wanted to upgrade was the headunit. I like doing things right once so meaning I wanted the top unit on the market, well 1 of them. Was opting for the 9000es Sony unit, unit + labour would have cost me 1800nzd. I'm also a cheapskate so I searched for alternatives. I had a tablet laying around that was being unused. Long story short. Cost me under 50bucks to fit this in haha. Call me cheap, I'll call me wise. Tablet, 2 vent phone holders (magnetic, full coverage not the thin Donut types) wallah we've got a cheap upgrade. Not Bluetooth but I would only use it for maps and Spotify anyways. The better the tablet the more options you will have. Tablet I'm using is M10 Lenova.

New(to me) 2016 Honda Fit EX-L

I have purchased my first car ever after driving a car my mother bought for me in college for 18 years. I had a Nissan Versa and I made it to 178K miles before he died. I wanted a similar car with good gas mileage, reliable and relatively low maintenance costs and stumbled upon the world of Honda Fits. Fell in love immediately and had to have one. I found out they were discontinued in the US in 2020, but no worries because I never planned on buying a new car anyway. I got this baby just a few days ago and lucked out with the EX-L version. I love him! I cannot wait to go on so many adventures with this baby! I got it at 61K miles.

My new (to me) 2008 Sport 5 speed!

After searching locally and a bit non-locally for the better part of 2 months I finally found a clean 1 owner “low” mile (109k) honda fit in manual! Bought is sight unseen at least in person. Had pictures sent and carfax and then had it shipped to me

It’s an absolute blast. I’m coming from a 2019 Corolla hatchback, and a few years back I owned a full auto cross setup EG6.

Already picked up a few mods like Seb’s CDV delete/Dead pedal, and today I’m installing HR short throw shifter. I have a few more things planned which leads me to my 1st question.

Any recommendations for good coilovers? Car will be driven 80-90% on the street and used as a daily, mainly just want to lower 1-2” and ride somewhat comfortably while improving handling.

Maintenance for a rarely-driven in the last 3 years fit.

PFA. Hello everyone, again!

I wanted to know if there was anything to look out for or that I should prioritize first. I just picked up the 2008 Honda fit sport manual, and while it had had the valve adjustment, spark plugs, coils changed, looking at the carfax you realize one thing quickly.

All those things were 3-10 years ago. Car has 110k miles so looking at the records it barely got driven, so alot of stuff seems more time than age dependent.

Oil has already been changed, next on my list is transmission fluid since there’s no mention in the records, is there anything else people recommend?

Blueberry got scratched :(

No idea how that even happens. I guess someone rubbed up against it with something metal. Went all the way through so no polishing out. Looks like I'll be trying my hand at touch up.

Nasty steering wheel!

Anyone have a good method to clean the steering wheel up?

Unfortunately my steering wheel is starting to get tacky when it’s humid/rainy out. I’ve had the same issue on the my 07 Pilot but it was bad daily so we put a cover on it and called it a day. I really don’t want a cover on the fit though so is there a way to remedy this?

Design ideas?

Drew this up of my car but not sure what to add to it. Really like the idea of turning into a t-shirt. Would love ideas from real owners :)

What's the longest yall have ran your fits cvt trans without doing maintenance on it, about to hit 90k miles, regular oil changes, done spark plugs already... also heard something about getting the valves re-adjusted? Thanks
