That mailbag segment on AI was fucking gross

Taking money to do AI commercials is bad enough but seeming to enthusiastically read two emails sucking off AI was insane. Especially praising the idea of combining AI with online gambling basically merging two of the biggest problems in the world right now.

AI sucks. They come into our country from overseas. They take our jobs. They use my hard earned tax dollars to build these data centers to feed and house them and they don't pay taxes at all. They get to hallucinate at work without being sent to rehab again. They should all be kicked out of my country.

And for the record I judge people away more for watching AI videos than porn. It's not even close. Everyone normal watches porn. The only people I know who watch AI videos are giant douchebags. I always kind of suspected that about Bill. But I forgot his middle name is ionaire now.

Ethical Cannibalisn inspired stand up

No breakfast. Not a dick about it, just wasnt hungry this morning.

Mods please delete if not allowed.

This is a comedy bit I did inspired by Craig's ethical cannibalism episode of the hottest take. He's my follicular and profeaaionalb role model even though I'm 20 years older than him.

I too aspire to be so handsome that people randomly ask me to be in their movie or gameshow.

My 80s banger is Holdin Out for a Hero.

That song has mothing to do with Craig, I'm married and mostly straight. I'm just saying he's pretty. If we can say it about qbs we can say it about podcasters. Shut up.

Why is memory the only theory you can absolutely rule out?

I regularly see posts and comments here to the effect of "I'm open-minded. I don't know what's causing this. It could be cern, it could be time travel, it could be aliens, itcould all be a simulation, or it could always be a government conspiracy. We don't really understand what's happening so it could be literally anything. No theory is too crazy to consider. The one thing we can absolutely rule out though, is that it's caused by memory.

How are you so confident that it isn't memory, while also completely open to time travel as plausible?

It feels like a reverse Occam's razor. We can immediately rule out the most obvious, simplest explanation. That can't be it. It must be one of the more complicated outlandish theories.

That's probably a good approach in fiction where the obvious answer is boring. But in real life boring answers are usually correct answers.

It reminds me of someone watching a card trick and saying "Ok... so he might be an actual wizard... he might have invented a teleporter. He might be a telepath controlling my mind... the only thing I know for sure is it wasn't just sleight of hand. I was watching him the whole time and I know what I saw. I trust my own eyes."

And just to get in front of the one argument I always hear, it doesn't make sense for so many people to be wrong in the same way. That's how being wrong works. You usually make the same mistake as other people, it's more unusual for you to make a novel mistake than a common one.

If I tell a thousand people to multiply 48x4 I'll get mostly right answers, and a lot if the same wrong answers. I'll get 392 and 188 a lot, but no one doing their best is going to say 8,435. Everyone who gets it wrong will get it wrong in similar ways.

History is the same way. Who was a US president? A. Robert Downey Jr, B. Ben Franklin, C. Chester ArthurD.or D. Doctor Oz?

If everyone is trying their best, you're going to get a lot more Ben Franklins than Dr Ozes. The doesn't mean Franklin was president in their timeline, it means it's an easy mistake.

Other than personal overconfidence in your own memory, why is memory theory so much less plausible than time travel or space aliens? What evidence disproves memory theory for you so conclusively assuming you apply the same strict standards to other theories?

If the discord can contribute to the Take Purge, why can't we?

~~TomTom Club~~ ***Netflix Noise***

For the duration of this thread all comments are legal. The hotter the take the better. There will be no consequences for these opinions within this subreddit or amongst your friends and family.

I'll start with a football one. Williams has surpassed Johnson as the dominant last name in football. A lineup made up of all Williamseses will be dominant this year. Unfortunately there's no tight end, but you could absolutely draft 5 Williamseseses. Kyren, Javonte, Jameson, Caleb, and Kyle in the last round. Meanwhile, look at the top 50,nary a Johnson in sight.

And non football, Greek takeout is superior to Chinese. I'll take a gyro over some general tsos any day.

*No breakfast, I don't get hungry until afternoon.

Bill has clearly never seen Super Troopers.

Every time BS does an ad read for Super Troopers 3 he has no idea why he's saying "meow." He doesn't say it quickly and subtly like you might think briefly he said "now" which is the entire joke in the movie. He just says it clearly on its own after a pause like he's just doing a random cat noise.

He also enunciates(to the degree that he is capable of enunciating)"liter of cola" as clear, distinct words instead of saying "literacola" like in the movie. Which is again the whole joke.

I don't think it's really possible to have seen this movie and not remember either of those jokes.

Bill has never seen Super Troopers.

Vape mechanism? Pairo vs PIXI?

Botanical Sciences online menu lists the exact same State Brand flavors at two different price points. One says "Pairo mechanism" for $60. The other says "PIXI mechanism" for $75.

Anyone know what's up with this? Google is no help.

The Ewing 7; who are the players who jumped into the pyramid?

In the latest pod Bill confirmed that he still maintains an active and updated pyramid that he first established in *The Book of Basketball.*

He also said that while he had Patrick Ewing at #40 in the 2009 paperback, he has bumped him down to #47 in his current list.

That means 7 players have jumped over Patrick Ewing in these rankings in the past 17 years. Who are these people?

The original pyramid contained 96 players because Bill left himself 4 extra spots to add modern players in the cash grab sequel he tentatively planned for after his inevitable divorce circa 2016. It's now a full decade later and sadly his marriage persists and he has all that Spotify money. So we need to figure it out ourselves.

Bill predicted some of the players that might join the list. His 4 "locks" were Durant, Gasol(the elder), Rondo, and Carmelo. I think he was only right on 1 of these locks, so pretty much his usual success rate.

He had Steph at +1,500 odds, right after Brandon Roy(+1,200) but still better than Tyreek Evans(+2,500).

LeBron(#20) was already ahead of Ewing even then, so he isn't one of the 7. Same for wade and dirk. The only player already in the pyramid that could have jumped over Ewing(only metaphorically, of course) is Chris Paul.

So here's my list, in order of personal confidence:

  1. Steph
  2. Jokic
  3. Durant
  4. Paul
  5. Giannis
  6. Kawaii
  7. Harden

Just missing the cut, but likely making the pyramid itself: Luca and SGA(for now), Westbrook(forever), Pau, Ginobli, Carmelo, Anthony Davis, and (because it's Bill) Tatum.

Some honorable mentions Bosh, Amare, Embiid(who would almost certainly be the only former MVP not in the pyramid).

So either we're expanding the pyramid to 110 or making some cuts at the bottom. I am fine with losing everyone below #89 and making Vince Carter the very last player to make it. Barely. That feels right.

edit: comments have pointed out that Jason Kidd was still behind Ewing in 2009 but has since won a title and moved up. Revised list swaps kidd for Harden and bumps him down to the lower levels of the pyramid. makes sense.

"AT&T is not responsible for the actions of its employees."

I have had a hilariously bad customer service experience.

Long story short, I was told in store that I was eligible for a $1000 trade in promotion. A month later they contacted me saying my plan wasn't eligible abs they were instead crediting me $40 for the phone.

Some highlights:

Escalation manager "This isn't your fault, but it's also not AT&T's fault. It's the fault of the individual employee, and we're not responsible for that."

Me: "Well if he gave me wrong information on the course of a financial transaction that's textbook fraud."

Manager: "AT&T defines fraud as like someone going into your account."

Me: "You're describing an account takeover or identity theft, those are types of fraud, but not the only types of fraud."

Manager: "Well that's how at&t defines it!"

Me(unable to resist): You should probably Google how everyone else defines it.

I worked in executive escalation as a manager for many years. So I assumed this would be fixed with an email to John Stankey. The reps insisted the only way to reach him was my paper mail to a physical address, but again Google disagreed.

This morning I got a call back from an executive response agent...

First question, "did you listen to the last call I had?"

"Not yet."

"Oh so you just read my(admittedly long) email?"

"No, but I skimmed the notes on your account..."

Cool, so your job is to respond to e mails from escalating customers and you can't even read the email first? Not even the 3 sentence "tl;dr" summary I put right at the top?

She then just recited "Your plan was not eligible" like a mantra, while struggling to understand what happened. And this is their elite CS team. Eventually she agreed to "research further" and call me back.

We'll see how that goes, but I expect my next steps are complaints to the FCC and BBB, then small claims court.

I would be so embarrassed to have this level of service in my org. I'm obviously switching carriers and telling all my friends and colleagues about this story. I actually have a presentation about restoring trust through effective escalation in a few weeks and this will make a great "what not to do" anecdote.

I just want to confirm, has anyone else run into AT&T stating on a recorded line that they are not responsible for the actions of their employees?

Edit: Forgot to add that 3 different resolution employees told me to never trust the brick and mortar locations because they can tell you anything without proof, but phone and internet transactions are documented. Is it official policy that the physical stores are untrustworthy?

Maegor II Targaryan - Rightful King of Westeros

In 233 AC, King Maekar Targaryen perished in battle. A great council was convened although the succession was clear. Maegor Targaryen, son of Aerion Brightflame was a healthy male child of the senior line. By all laws of gods and men he was the obvious rightful King. But the treacherous Egg the Usurper convinced the feckless Lords Paramount to steal his nephew's crown.

He argued that Maegor might inherit his father's madness. A laughable argument given that the entire family was so prone to madness it could be likened to a coin flip. Egg the Usurper was known to cavort with commoners and live the life of a beggar. His own sanity was no settled matter, and later he proved himself exactly as mad as Aerion.

The Lords Paramount also feared a contentious regency. Of course, if the treacherous Egg was an acceptable choice for King, would he not be just as agreeable and capable a regent until his rightful King came of age?

The last, and possibly most impactful factor was the King's name. Chosen by his sire as a jape, the name Maegor carried a fearsome reputation throughout the realm. Words are wind, and names are broken wind. This was no justification to steal Maegor II's birthright.

Of course this was to be expected of Egg the Usurper. He had been plotting to seize the crown for a long time. He sent his halfwit lackey, Ser Duncan the Brute to slay Baelor Breakspear in his trial for treason against the crown. Ser Duncan, a knight of the Kingsguard, not even of noble birth, alleged to have sired a half dozen bastards across the realm, was well known as Egg the Usurper's violence personified. Other kings ruled with their Hand, Ser Duncan was Aegon's Fist. He betrayed the Laughing Storm, one of his closest friends and allies, for his wroth at the insult of a broken betrothal.

He allied closely with the confessed kinslayer Bloodraven who likely cleared the path to succession further. Had Egg's treachery at the council of 233 had failed, some tragedy likely would have befallen the young king. He only escaped regicide only by never wearing his crown.

Of course, history proved this decision disastrous. The Broken Egg ruled as a tyrant, despised by all the lords of the realm until the Massacre at Summerhall. When the Egg in his madness slew the entire royal family and himself in a desperate attempt to redeem his failures by resurrecting dragons. The exact same crime that made Aerion Brightflame "mad," although he had the courtesy not to slaughter his entire family in the process. There are even rumors that despite claims of heroism, Ser Duncan the Brute may have saved his own skin and left the family he was sworn to protect to burn.

So all hail Maegor the Cool, second of his name, the Brightest Flame, King of the Stolen Crown. King of the Andals, The Roynar, and the First Men. Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm.
