windmill window unit reading temps weird

i don’t know if this is an issue, doesn’t seem to be affecting anything, but it’s very confusing.

i have my windmill unit set to 68 on eco mode, so every so often it’ll turn on for ~15 seconds, and if it reads the room as over 68 then it’ll actually run for a while. what’s weird is that since i’ve been feeling a little cold lately, i’ve been manually turning it off for a while in the app - after i do that, the temperature reading drops like 5 degrees. ie, my AC will be reading the room as 69 (set at 68), but when i turn it off, the room reading drops down to 63-64. i have a temp reader in the room and its reading the room temp as what the AC says when it is running.

why is this happening?

also i have seen the myriad of complaints about windmill already. this units 2-3 years old and i was desperate so its what im stuck with for now.

optometrist recommendations

i’m having pain/burning in the corner of my left eye and feel i should see an eye doctor - i haven’t seen one in over 20 years as i don’t need glasses and after a while they told me to only come back if my vision changed. since then i’ve moved to vt, and my relatives go to heritage eye care, but unfortunately they are not taking on new patients. TIA!

[CHAT] needle keeps going through middle of thread from previous stitches

i’m somewhat of a noob to cross stitch - this is like my 3rd/4th project, so i’ve had this happen before, but not as consistently! right now it’s happening with almost every stitch and it’s awful and looks awful 😭 it’s doubling if not tripling the time it takes to stitch.

what is causing this? i’m trying to keep my aida as taut as possible, but it lasts .5 seconds before going loose again. i saw a thread about washing aida before use to soften it and make it easier to tighten, but i don’t really feel like washing my piece mid project. are my stitches too loose?

help!! 🫠

little black flies everywhere only at night

please help me figure out how to get rid of these bugs, i am on the verge of a nervous breakdown and i don’t even have a bug phobia, but there’s thousands and they are EVERYWHERE.

historically, we’ve gotten a small amount of these during the summer, but they are completely out of control. i live in vermont and dont have ac so i have to keep the screened windows open. we’ve tried zevo (pictured), we’ve tried spraying our window screens, we’ve tried bowls of water with soap and vinegar, we’ve tried vacuuming them up, we’ve tried fly paper. they’re not fruit flies because they are not near any produce/scraps/trash (also have dealt with those before) and hang around the areas with open windows and lights. people have said they look like fungus gnats but i keep reading those are predominantly from indoor house plants, which we do have, but as you can see they are also all over the exterior of the house and don’t hang around the plants. they are also appearing in rooms with no plants whatsoever. today we kept all the windows closed after 7pm except for one, whose screen we had replaced with a finer mesh, and they still got in. they’re completely gone during the day and start appearing after 9pm until there’s hoards of them. the pictured zevos had only been in use overnight before having to be replaced. there is a single room in the house with a window ac with a door that is always kept closed, and even with tape around the ac they still get in (albeit a smaller amount).

i am BEGGING and DESPERATE, as i sit here crying. i feel so uncomfortable in my own house and wish i could drop an atomic bomb on it.

please help me get the sound working on my windows xp machine

I use workstation player 16.2.5 to play old computer games. many of my games "break" the sound on the machine - starts off with sound, but then goes silent until I restart the machine. I have no idea how to fix this but I would be so grateful for any help I can get. this has been a problem for years but i hate the other vm options and can’t get any new VMware products bc of their new requirements.

what are these insufferable little flies

we get them every now and then during the summer inside (just a little usually), but we just returned from a trip and they are EVERYWHERE - the kitchen, the bedrooms, the screens outside, the outside of the house. how do i get rid of them STAT? I can’t read without them landing on my book or leg. they are small and black

[TOMT] looking for vine of kid/pre-teen lip syncing to bridge of "bet on it" by pool

my friend are trying to find the vine (could possibly not be a vine) of a kid/pre-teen boy lip syncing to "bet on it" from high school musical 2 by a pool. he's singing the "all I've gotta do is believe / I'm not gonna stop, not gonna stop til I get my shot" part and then slaps the water and dances away. I think this video must've been wiped off the face of the earth lol. tia!
