Black Sisters

Hi, do you think that all the Black Ajah members were meant to be dark friends from the start? I think that probably most, like Liandrin, Verin, or the one that liked cats (what was her name?) and the OG ones that fled the tower were always meant to be Black, but what about others? I felt like some, like Sheriam, weren't really meant to be dark friends, and not exactly not meant to be either, just there, and they were revealed as Black Ajah at moments of convenience, that could also be just me not picking up on clues earlier. I was surprised about some of the reveals. Did the author(s) say anything about this in an interview or something? What do you think?

Reference Books

Hi, I'm a chemistry student and I wanted to prepare a bit for my third semester during the summer, what reference books would you recommend for:

Inorganic, Analytic, and Physical Chemistry

I already have good references for organic chemistry, but are they the same ones used for Ochem 2 as well? If not, what would you recommend?

Why is it called Christopher Street Day

Hi, first of all my condolences about the recent tragic attack in Berlin, my all the injured recover swiftly and may the person who lost their life never be forgotten and rest in peace ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Why is it called that in Germany? What's the story? Is like Stonewall? is the June pride month also celebrated? Or is it just one day?

Questions about Giovanni's Room

Hi, I'm currently making my way through this book, page 96, and I have a few questions:

Is David unemployed? How long has he been living in Paris? It looks like he can speak French, right? Why doesn't he get a job? He goes on and on about being poor and then does nothing but ask others for money, I get nervous when he spends and just strolls through the city, but he seemingly doesn't mind at all. What does Hella even see in him?

Before I started reading this book, I thought one of the characters would be black, but everyone is white so far, and from what I have seen online I'm not the only one who believed that, even one of the covers for the book that I have seen looks to be featuring a black man. Is there a specific reason for this?

Are the Creator and the Light different things?

Hi, I'm a first time listener, and from what I understand the Creator is this neutral power, whom Dark One wants to usurp, and the Light is this vague thing that Doesn't really do anything, more like a concept rather than an actual power. am I correct? Or are the Creator and the Light the same thing

Edit: by the way I have only listened up to the end of Crossroads of Twilight, incase this is mentioned later in the series

I accidentally started the series from the New Spring, and I loved it, did this happen to anyone else?

Hi, I was just looking for a long audio book to listen to at the gym or when I'm doing chores, and I stumbled on the Wheel of Time and really liked it!

I found it on the Internet Archive website, and in that particular bach, it started from the New Spring, then I got to the Eye of the World and it said the first book, that's when I found out what had happened.

I liked my introduction to the world starting from the white tower, I found a fantasy novel about the person who is after the chosen one and not them as the main character fascinating. The time jump felt great too, seeing how much Moiraine had changed and how normal people thought about Aes Sedai was interesting, I kept waiting for Siuan to show up and got excited when I found out she was the Armyrlin. Overall , it was enjoyable, this book became on of my favorites in the series, even though I agree that it's not as good as the main ones.

Did this happen to anyone else? And if not, when did you read the New Spring?

I didn't experience the slog, how did you feel about it and why?

Hi, I'm first time reader (well, actually listener) I have listened up to chapter 28 of CoT so far, and I didn't experience much of a slog. I found myself disagreeing with a lot of the opinions that I read about these 4 books, and I was wondering why some of you felt that way? Was it a specific storyline or character or just the whole thing?

I will admit that there were a few chapters in the whole 4 books that did feel a bit slow, the pacing is different from some of the other books but I liked it actually, except for the Crossroads of Twilight's prologue, that was slow and not really that good. But overall, I enjoyed the plot and the pacing, I like it that storylines don't get resolved quickly and go on for a while, it makes me enjoy them more. I think one of the reasons people don't like these books that much is that in the first few, at least one of the Forsaken would be taken down or an epic fight with them would happen, and it felt like reaching a milestone, and the seals were being found and broken at a very fast pace, an x down y to go thing, which is less present in these ones.

I also didn't think the ending of Winter's Heart was that good, I saw a lot of people praising it, and it was a good ending, but I was expecting much more, maybe the hype made me expect too much, I actually enjoyed the aftermath of it and how people reacted in the next book a lot more.

I'm really interested in why a lot of people seem to disagree with these opinions, I'm the sort that goes and reads the 1 star reviews of books after reading them, even though this ruined one or two books for me, I appreciate the truth, and sometimes I can't find it alone.

Btw, is Loyal going to become more present going forward? He's my absolute favorite

Which one is older, Hamadan or Susa?

Hi, I couldn't find a definite answer for this anywhere, what is the oldest city in Iran? In school I think they said it was Hegmataneh, but the textbook didn't really focus on those parts, 4 names keep popping up, Hamadan, Hegmataneh, Susa and Shush, can you explain this a bit please?

Questions about Albert Camus's The Plague (spoilers for those who haven't read it obviously)

Hi, I just finished The Plague, and I must say I did enjoy it, I liked the ending too, but I do have a few questions, so here it goes:

  1. What was the point of Grand? A guy who keeps writing and rewriting one sentence throughout the whole book, I think he was the character I understood the least, I was a bit confused about what that has to do with the plague and the town, what was his significance to the story? What did he represent?

  2. OK, am I the only one who is bothered by this, or is the presence of female characters weird for anyone else? It was something that I just kept thinking about, how in a book called the Plague, there weren't any nurses in the story, and it wasn't just that, Rieux spends day and night at Tarrou's bedside, grieves him for pages, is in denial at first, you can just feel the emotions pouring out of the pages and that part was masterfully written, however, when his wife dies whom he had known and lived with and loved for several years, he's like, yeah, I knew it was coming, no biggie, it was literally less than a paragraph, which is kinda funny

Can I use wo here instead of was?

Hi, I was doing some grammer exercises, about wer, wen and wem, and one of them was this:

Frankfurt gefällt mir gut, and I had to make a sentence, to which Frankfurt would be the answer. There was no mention of wo in the lesson notes, so I knew it had to be was, and the answer key says the same thing, but can I use wo ? Would that be grammatically correct? If not, can it still be used in conversation and sound natural?

Wo gefällt dir gut?

Was gefällt dir gut?

Or should I use something like Welche Stadt or Welchen Ort? Would that be correct? And would it sound conversational?

Do you ever drop the pronouns?

Hi, I was wondering if German speakers ever drop the pronouns in conversation, the ones that have more distinct verb endings like ich and du, because in my native language and some others, this does happen very often, as verb endings are pretty specific.

I asked deepseek and it said this isn't done in german, but then I was watching Druck and saw this sentence: "bin krank" so, it seems like it *can* happen, is it a very common thing? With which pronouns can it be done?

Questions about the Old Modules

Hi, I'm going to run a Ravenloft campaign, and I decided to give the OG books a look, and I absolutely loved what I saw! But I'm a bit confused about the order, I googled it but some books were left out of the list, my campaign will mostly rotate around Strahd, Tatyana and Azalin, and here are the pdfs I found:

I6 Ravenloft, Ravenloft II: The House on Gryphon Hill

Ravenloft Gazetteer vol 1 & 2

From the Shadows, Roots of evil (these 2 are connected it seems, correct?)

Lord of Necropolis

House of Starhd

Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

Any additions to this list will be welcome as well, and I will be very thankful if you could also tell me when Vladeska Drakov, Viktra Mordenheim and Bluetspur are first mentioned

Is there order in the universe? And some other questions

Hi, I'm a chemistry student and this my thing so sorry if I use the wrong terminology or words. I'm from Iran and classes like Islamic philosophy are mandatory, because "we have to have information about important things other than our major", which makes me wonder why philosophy and religion majors don't have to study any math or physics, anyway, my professor spends more time debunking the value of science and mindsets other than his, than actually explaining why what he says is right, apparently there should be no question about that, so I came here with my questions:

Is the world full of chaos or order? Can we even determine that? I know science proves there is a semblance of order in the universe, but there is also a lot of chance and randomness

There is apparently a sort of knowledge that we all know, without any thing teaching it to us, like our sense of self and emotions, the professor uses this to explain a part of why God exists, but the same people ignore this sense of self and emotion in others when they don't like it, like when they prosecute us for being gay or say it's wrong, they use a book to overrule people, so wouldn't that take away the validity of them using this kind of knowledge to explain the existence of God?

And finally, they say that they believe in God and the holy books or whatever, and say evolution is wrong, I agree it isn't perfect but natural selection exists, some say God set it all in motion and therefore it's not chaos and it's planned, but don't the holy books say the world was created in 6 or 7 days? And things were created at the same time? Science proves a lot of that wrong, doesn't that take the validity of Quran and the Bible away?

Thank you for taking the time to read this
