LSA Rant

Let me start off by saying this, I know LSA's are allowed to be left alone. Now that that's out of the way, I have a rant, you can choose to read you can choose not to read whatever I just want to get this off my chest. I was supposed to get off at 12:00 today, and a coworker came in thankfully early because he decided to just show up early. This is not where my frustration takes place, my frustration was caused by my manager going wherever they went for 50 minutes unannounced, no "hey I'm going on my break", no "I'm going to leave the store for a few minutes", nothing. I walked around for 40 minutes trying to find them, checked the back, checked the office, the break room, and nowhere to be found. My coworker ended up clocking in early since I was going home once the manager showed up since today is one of my family members birthdays and I promised them that I would get off by 12:00 and come home for the celebration. I call my mom and let her know that I will not be home on time because my manager is nowhere to be found and I cannot just abandon the store like that because I was basically alone at that point until my coworker showed up. I stayed almost an hour over and my manager was in the stupidest place ever to just abandon me like that, across the road at a nearby store. Not only did I get off work late without even being asked if I could stay over, but my family is very demanding and very not so understanding, so I got yelled at when I got home all because of something that wasn't even my fault and plus my manager has left MULTIPLE times unannounced and not even a break. Like they have completely left the store without breaking in or breaking out or even telling anyone for at least 5 hours on end and our district manager won't even do anything about it. Not only that but I had a problem with a customer and they were asking for the manager, like I said I was alone until another employee came in, no manager in sight and I had to fight it alone with this customer calling me a dumbass bitch over a fucking expired coupon in the app that I could not honor because it was EXPIRED. I had to point it out to her that it expired last month and that sometimes expired coupons can stay in the app even if you have clipped them. She still demanded to speak to a manager and I told her I'm basically the MOD and that the other managers are not there so she basically was speaking to the manager. She threw some products at me and ended up walking out when I tried to remain positive despite being pissed.

Advice for cleaning room

Hello everyone, I have pretty big pieces of furniture and I have a lot of containers that are just full of random stuff, I rearranged my room last week because I wanted to change it up but my room is not very spacious now that I have gotten a new furniture set. Does anyone have any advice on how to clean this room? There is a lot of important stuff that I don't want to get rid of but I know I have to change it up a little bit whether it's keeping just a few containers in my room and taking some out or just doing something to make it feel a little bit more spacious and not cluttered. My closet isn't that big it can just hold quite a few clothes and there is barely any space in the bottom for extra stuff which I really don't want to use because we are currently having a mouse problem in my house. I'm sorry my room is such a mess but I really need advice because I want a clean room.

Advice wanted

Hello everyone I'm new to this community and I just recently started playing the game supermarket simulator on Nintendo switch. I have a PC but it is having a few issues so I ultimately chose the unpolished version on Nintendo switch that is about $7 and the original software is free but you have to download an additional software to play the actual game. I have already had two game slots started and I am currently on my third one because I keep going bankrupt every time I play, the first time I hired a cashier for $85 a day which was their salary but ultimately decided to fire them because I could not afford to pay them on top of all of the stocking. The second time I did not hire a cashier but groceries are so dang expensive and the rent as well sent me into bankruptcy. Is there any way I could get more money and prevent going bankrupt? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you! :)

Work Rant

I'm an LSA and I love my job but people not having common sense annoys me sometimes, we have this one guy who just started working at my store 3 days ago and I just found out this morning that he walked out yesterday, mind you this guy is an LSA so he can run register which is one of the main requirements of a job for that position and help out with other stuff. Well apparently from what I've been told by my manager he got an attitude about being trained on register because he didn't want to do it. Like how are you going to become an LSA and not expect to run register?? This morning we had someone come in with digital coupons for all of this laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, I think it was a $10 coupon that she was trying to apply and it did, it saved her $10 and she was standing there asking me why it wasn't coming off when it was. "Why don't I see a -10.00 if it was coming off?" And I had to stand there and explain to her that she wasn't going to see a whole 10 but it would come off in little chunks because it doesn't just apply as a whole number which most people would understand. Not only was she giving me grief when her coupon came off and she didn't have enough common sense to really think about it and total it all up but she was also holding up the line which was down our medicine aisle and I was the only one working register. Don't get me wrong I can handle rushes because I have been through so many of them by myself while on register but people like that especially when they hold up the line annoys the hell out of me. Also I have had several customers come in today and either not have enough money or didn't bring their payment method into the store with them and had to walk out and go grab it whether it's from their house or their car when I have a bunch of people standing in line ready to be checked out. They get mad at me every time I void their transaction or void their items and keep ringing people up because I'm not going to stand there for 5 minutes and wait for them to come back and just let the line accumulate. Another thing is my coworkers keep walking out because they don't want to work and they don't like my manager for whatever reason. In my opinion my manager's super understanding and really nice like most managers at DG nowadays are rude and demanding. My manager as of right now is like the best manager that I have had working at this company and you won't get in trouble as long as you do your stuff and you don't play around, come to work, do your tasks, run the register, don't be over or short on your till, and get to work on time, that's basically all of his rules and it's pretty easy. I might get some shit thrown at me for saying this but as long as you know how to do your job it is not a hard job at all especially if you have a very good and supportive team. I know not everybody has that privilege but if you have a very good supportive team and you come to work to do your job and you do it right then you're not going to have any problems other than a few rude customers.

Should I be concerned?

I just received my schedule for next week and I usually have 20 something hours even though I'm full time but management has to distribute hours equally to every employee as we all know. I'm only scheduled for 4 hours next week on Wednesday and I offered to pick up a shift on the 12th for 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., we have an employee coming back since his wife had a baby a month ago and he is full-time and allowed to work up to 40 hours a week. Keep in mind he is getting full time hours next week working up to 32 hours. Everyone else is getting good hours but me and another employee are getting the shorter hours. I haven't done anything wrong as far as I know and I've been doing my job correctly. Do you guys think it will even out or should I be looking for another job in case my hours stay like this? I started freaking out because not only is my monthly budget tight because I have to pay $500 a month for insurance but I also have to save up at least $100 for my phone bills so my monthly cost is $600 at least per month.

Fresh produce?

We get our fresh truck on Saturdays luckily I was able to knock it out so the night shift wouldn't have to deal with it tonight, the question I'm asking about is the bananas. Do you guys pull all the old bananas off the shelf and replace it with the new ones if they are already turning brown or have a speckled Brown on them? We had green ones arrive today and so I put the old bananas in the box the new ones came in.

Box cutters?

Hey everyone I need some advice, obviously they only allow us to buy two box cutters at a time when we order them. I have some box cutters similar to the ones that we use at work and I was wondering if it would be okay for me to just bring my own because I can never find one when I'm doing freight. They refuse to buy us any more and then you're stuck looking for something to cut things open.

Advice for cheat sheet

Hello everyone, some of you may know that I am partially new to the company and I am currently a LSA, one of my friends recently got hired and I am going to be making her a cheat sheet that way she can learn how to do her job a little bit better, she's going to be the same position as me which is a key holder and a LSA. Me personally I never closed or opened by myself so drop your best tips in the comments please and anything else that you think would be helpful for her to know. We are appreciative of any tips or notes! :) we are focusing mainly on the manager menu functions and opening and closing but anything helps!

Will I get fired?

Last night I was closing with a key holder, when he counted my till for some reason there were two sessions under my ID, I don't know if I was at my register at the time another session was created without my knowledge or if I was doing totes. Apparently there was a $33 difference but I explained to the key holder that I had no idea there was a second session or I would have come and got someone to remove it. Nobody had my ID or login credentials. My coworker switched out my drawer and I don't know how much was in it. Apparently they might be checking cameras today and doing an investigation. I just started at the company again 5 days ago. I'm really scared because I love my team and I love my job there and I really can't lose another job because it has taken me so long to find this one.

Referring interested candidates?

Hello everyone, I'm an LSA and I have a friend who is interested in becoming part of the company. They asked me if I could refer them to my store or another store around us since there is another one right down the road. Am I allowed to do this without any repercussions? Thanks in advance.

Drug tests?

Does anyone's store actually still sell drug tests? We had a man come in today and ask for one of the at-home drug tests because he wanted to make sure he passed it before a drug test he had to take for a new job. We usually keep them behind the counter because so many people steal them including some brands of pregnancy tests. I looked behind the counter and I didn't see any anywhere, checked my app for my specific store location and saw that we don't sell them anymore. I remember we sold them back in September.

LSA closing advice

Hello everyone, I am a new LSA, I was wondering if I'm supposed to take our deposit at night? I'm not sure which bank we use for my store specifically and I am a little bit nervous closing by myself because I know it's going to happen at some point. I am asking this community for advice so I can prepare myself in case it does happen. I have worked at DG in the past but I always opened and closed with someone with me to ensure safety but I have never closed by myself or opened by myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and will be noted for future use. :)

EDIT: I'm also a keyholder and just found out. So I'm a LSA and Keyholder :)

Question

Hello everyone, I went downstairs to turn off our flagpole outside through the light switch in the garage, I had a flashlight and I found four baby mice in our bird food bucket. I called my mom downstairs because we have had mice before and we do not like mice in our house and I honestly don't think anyone does. I didn't get a picture of the other three because we ended up catching them by scooping them up with something and putting them in a box and letting them go outside. She attempted to catch all four to put them in the box but one escaped last night and it was back in the bucket this morning so I put that one outside as well. I will attach a picture of the one that I released this morning in a bag but we need to know if Mama might still be around. We are planning to get lids for our food or a metal trash can but we have not had mice in like 12 years. I'm not sure how old the babies are but they were in a cuddle puddle last night when I first found them.

Collected this a few minutes ago, is it still sellable? (we sell our eggs for extra money because we never eat the ones that our girls lay)

u/drawingpanda09 — 4 months ago

Hello everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting this. I (20F) have an ex best friend who I have been friends with for almost 4 years. We have been on and off in our friendship and I recently cut her off for good last month. When me and her were friends the last time she asked me to make her a dating profile on Instagram, I did it because I had her consent and she wanted me to help her find the right person because all of her relationships kept falling through and didn't even last a month and then she would hop into a new one quickly. I made the profile and we both had access to it so I was basically like a co-owner of the account and she just wanted me to ask questions to anyone who was interested in her that appealed to her, I wouldn't log into the account unless it was for that reason. About 2 weeks after I made the account I found out that she had been flirting with someone who just got out of a relationship less than 24 hours ago and then proceeded to tell their ex that her and them were not talking which was a lie. This person did not want any flirting between her or themselves and they also seemed pretty uncomfortable. Now this is my reason for cutting her off, she would throw herself into situations that were pretty serious and then when they came back to bite her in the ass she would always play the victim even though she initiated the drama. She would call me and "spill the tea" and then just laugh about what she did even though it hurt other people. All of her dramas slowly caught up to me and I was just becoming tired of hearing about all of the drama that she started when I literally could care less. I eventually told her that if she wanted to stay my friend to stop dragging me into her personal drama and keep me out of it. She also interfered with my relationship a lot with who is now my husband because she would spill all of these lies to my husband knowing me and him were in a relationship and it just pissed me off. Fast forward about a week later, one of my friends texts me that she has found a dating profile for me on Instagram under my name and everything even photos of me that were from my profile. I explained to this friend that I am married and very happy in my relationship. When me and her stopped being friends I changed the password to her dating account and I gave her all of the information and logged out and even removed it from my account center so I have no access to it. When I looked it up, it was nowhere to be found and obviously I got curious when I heard that there was a dating profile pretending to be me. My husband and I have put together the dots and we think it is most likely her who has made the dating profile for me and I am unable to find it and so is he because she blocked us but our friends are able to find it. Should I confront her about it?
