I’m an Indian Muslim and I’m fucking tired.

Every few days— a Muslim is lynched to death, accused of something, or just looking Muslim.

We live with the constant fear that one wrong glance, one Quran in public, one beard can turn into violence. This is our reality. This is the hell we walk through every day.

While we are going through this, I want to say one quiet thing to my brothers in Pakistan:

It is your duty to protect the minorities living under you. Hindus, Christians, Sikhs — treat them with justice and dignity. Allah will take Hisab for how you treated the minorities in your land, the same way He will take Hisab for how we are treated here.

This in itself is a sinister form of gaslighting because it denies Muslims the ability to process and express the reality we experience every single day. It tells us not to believe our own eyes.

From an Islamic perspective, such arrogance is deeply troubling. Islam warns against 𝒌𝒊𝒃𝒓(𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆)

and teaches that authority does not make a person superior to others.

On top of that, labeling a fellow Muslim an “𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭” is not something that they should be proud of.

"Lack of freedom of speech: IMs already suffer from a condition of their voices getting suppressed all the time , reddit being an anonymous platform and also IM being subreddit specifically for Indian Muslims , i believe it's our right to say what we want , unless and until it's not specifically anti Muslim or Islamophobia or Takfiring another muslim. We should remember that IM is the place where we let our frustration out into a open space . A form of frustration - that has been accumulated over years of seeing oppression over our community. It's not a sub of "Holding the higher moral ground "and "being careful enough of not generalising the Enemy community"

We are under no obligation to hold higher moral ground in a place where morality is thrashed left right and centre when it comes to our community."

Should I call Fatima the mother of Hassan and Husayn ? Then I have only described her motherhood.

When the Prophet ﷺ lost his sons, his enemies mocked him and called him "𝘢𝘣𝘵𝘢𝘳"(𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧𝘧) one whose lineage would end.

But Allah revealed:

"𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅, 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇𝒇." (𝑸𝒖𝒓'𝒂𝒏 108:3)"

Allah's plan is so beautiful. Those who mocked the Prophet ﷺ have faded into the pages of history, while millions across the world lovingly identify themselves as descendants of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ through Fatima رضي الله عنها.

The lineage they thought had ended became the lineage that would endure through a 𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫.

A stray black cat has recently started hanging out in my old garage.

It's rarely used, so it's mostly quiet, but it's dusty and has a couple of parked bikes and motorcycles. The cat seems comfortable there and sometimes just sits or sleeps inside.

I'm wondering if it's actually a safe place for a stray cat, or if I should try to encourage her to stay somewhere else. There aren't any obvious chemicals or traps in the garage, but it is bit 𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝.

In Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh, in 2006, Azam Khan Sahab laid the foundation of 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐢 𝐉𝐚𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐫 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲. Today, Azam Khan is in jail.

In Ribhoi district, Meghalaya, in 2011, Mahbub-ul-Haq Sahab laid the foundation of 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚 (𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐌).He is currently out on bail.

In Faridabad district, Haryana, in 1997, Javed Ahmad Siddiqui Sahab laid the foundation of 𝐀𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲. He is currently in jail.

In Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, in 2011, Haji Mohammad Iqbal Sahab laid the foundation of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐩𝐮𝐫. He is out on bail,absconding.

𝐘𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 — 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲?

Those who constantly lecture us about NEET protest, were nowhere to be seen when the national media ran a vicious 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 “𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐉𝐈𝐇𝐀𝐃” 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.

Why should we set aside our 𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗧 now and stand with those who never stood for us?

Muslims rushing to join such protests should remember one thing clearly: only Sharjeel Imam will end up in jail — his Hindu counterparts never will. And if any Muslim is so eager to go to prison, at least go for our own causes. Protest to save the universities built by Azam Khan for educating Muslims; institutions meant for our children’s future. At least that would be our fight.

Allah has already warned us about this tendency within human nature—to become boastful and forgetful of infinite Mercy of Allah in times of ease.

Then there’s the word ' 𝗸𝟮𝘄𝗮'— a highly offensive and pejorative slur used by Indian Islamophobes to refer to Muslim men. It alludes to male circumcision, a sacred practice in Islam.
