Job opportunites for partner who isn't UK National?

Hi all, I’m from the UK and my partner is Filipino. She has a degree in accounting, is a qualified accountant, and has around six years of experience, although all of it has been outside Europe. We want to do everything correctly, so I’m wondering what the best route would be for her to secure an accounting job in the UK. Are there recruiters who specialise in placing overseas accountants?

We’ve been applying through Indeed and LinkedIn without much success. Would it be worth her coming to the UK on a visit visa to attend interviews, or would she need to secure a sponsored job before coming over? Obviously, we don’t want to breach any visa rules. Any advice from people who have gone through a similar process, particularly Filipino accountants, would be greatly appreciated.

Kia stinger - Sick or faking it

Hi all,

Looking for some advice and to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

I have a 2020 Kia Stinger GT-Line 2.0T with around 91,000 km. Recently the check engine light came on, and the car started struggling to start after sitting for 6+ hours (overnight or during the workday). It would crank for up to 5 seconds before starting, and sometimes it would stumble/shake briefly once it fired up.

I took it to a garage yesterday and their diagnosis was:

  • Fuel filter is clogged/failing, which they say explains the hard starting.
  • High-pressure fuel pump is faulty and apparently stuck open, causing the engine to run rich.
  • The spark plugs I replaced only 2 months ago are already badly burnt/fouled, which they say is another sign the engine is getting too much fuel.
  • Occasionally I can smell petrol around the car when idling.

The mechanic says the fault codes and diagnostics point towards the high-pressure fuel pump.

One thing that worries me is that the previous owner wasn't exactly diligent with maintenance. The car has 91k km, and after looking into the service history, it appears the 60,000 km major service was never done. The owner only did minor oil services. I bought the car assuming it had been maintained correctly and only needed the 100k km major service coming up. Has anyone been through something like this or?
For ref: the garage said they will send me quote and its entirely up to me if i want to do it, he wont force me and just warned me that it could lead to big time engine problems.

Paint Restoration?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought myself a Kia Stinger and I absolutely love the car. The only thing I’ve noticed is that the white paint seems to have gone a bit dull over the years. I’m guessing it’s from being out in the sun for 6 years and probably not being cleaned or maintained properly.

I’d really like to bring the paint back to life and restore the car so it feels as close to new as possible. The paint is the biggest thing that stands out right now since it doesn’t have that deep mirror-like finish anymore.

Does anyone here have experience restoring faded or dull paint on their own cars? Any DIY tips, products, or processes you’d recommend? Also open to recommendations for places in Dubai that can do it professionally without costing a fortune.

This is my first car, so I’m still learning and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

EDIT: not sure if its visible but the bonnet is clearly a lot paler compared to the bumper/fender
