Looking to buy an older (2011) Macbook Pro, what should I look out for?
So, I've been meaning to get a laptop solely for the purpose of using it as a glorified typewriter, so I can get into bed and write some Obsidian notes and organise my thoughts and ideas as well as run Linux distros on it for the sake of tinkering and bringing more life to it, to which I found this offer for just 70$, a macbook with 8 gigs of ram, 500gb of storage and a battery that lasts 4-6 hours. The owner also dual boots Windows 7 on it along with MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6, however here's my concerns.
I never owned a Mac family device before, and I'm basically going in blind here, so I'd like to know if there are any pitfalls to look out for when purchasing a machine like that secondhand. Any advice, tips will be appreciated!
This character makes me wish we had more zebra representation in the show (OC by @F4ll3n4ng3lMLP via Twitter)
So I remember playing this game on Windows 7, I presume (unsure) it was one of the older Alawar titles. The game was a 2D side-scroller style shooter with 3D pre-rendered sprites for the player and the enemies.
As far as I can remember, the game features no human characters, only sleek-looking alien ships with technology. Game's plot goes as is: the Earth is invaded by alien ships, and since the humans already live in a very futuristic high tech society, they came up with the ultimate weapon (that you play as) to fight them.
In the game's opening cutscene, a sleek futuristic society city is visible, and one of the buildings, that creates a white sphere vessel being shot up in the sky, that you then play as.
Gameplay starts shortly after the cutscene in the sky with no HUD (not that I can remember), where you are just a tiny flying glowing ball. In that state, you are vulnerable and you're only able to do one action - consume one of the enemies that will eventually fly up to you on the screen. You are able to move in 2D space (left right up and down) with the camera moving automatically.
Once you begin "consuming" one of the alien ships, you're put in a short animation of that enemy being sucked into the ball, and the ball transforms into a light version of that enemy, that you now control and you're using the same weapons as that alien ship. However, you're still prone to damage in that state, and if you get hit, you return to the ball state and you need to consume another enemy to deal damage again.
That's all I can remember about the game, let me know if anyone can help me find it, I've tried so many times to find it but no search gives me what I'm looking for!
