ARD Application Statement Review

Would anybody who has had success self-applying for dual citizenship to the UK using form ARD mind taking a look at my application statement?

I want to get some feedback and make sure it’s up to par/not missing anything.

I would post it here directly, but obviously given the fact that there is personal information I will share it directly with those who are willing. Just let me know, thanks!

UK Dual by Descent (4L / ARD) pathway question

Quick context: US citizen. Father was born in the US in 1948 to a UK citizen mother (prior to her becoming a US citizen 2 years after his birth ). Me: born in 1981. So pathway is that she could not pass her citizenship to him and therefore him to me.

I began my process a month ago with gathering documents after being told I have a legitimate claim (nearly identical to example 13 in the guidance documents).

Today I finally got my grandmother‘s UK birth registry entry from the GRO. And I’ve got a couple questions / concerns.

  1. There is no name and surname for the father.
  2. Cursive on the mother‘s box is somewhat difficult to read (lots of detail written ). I will provide a photo in my first comment.
  3. The name of her mother matches the name she used her whole life (Coxon) and is what appears on marriage certificate to my grandfather and all of the other subsequent documents. Will a father’s name not being listed have any impact on my application?

Any help is appreciated.

2011 USA Tour

Spotted this hanging in a lobby at the Seattle Seahawks Stadium on a wall commemorating noteworthy visitors. Coincidentally there’s also a Chelsea one hanging beside it. Did anyone attend this match?

Women’s Soccer Gold Medal / Men’s Soccer Semi Final

Ended up getting two tickets for the women’s soccer gold medal match and two for the men’s semifinal at the Rose Bowl, however, just found out a friend is getting married and now my ability to attend is up in the air. Any idea when the resale marketplace will open up?

Recent find… but what’s the deal with these tags?

Not familiar with tags from this era, and the Asian tag specifically is throwing me off. What do we know?

My assumption is it’s just Asian sizing but also wondering now if I was duped? Mostly curious about this combination of tagging tho.

Your book recommendations please?

What Man Utd books do you recommend?

I have seen there are several on SAF; is there one that's better than the others in your opinion ? Is his autobiography worth a read over bios written by others - or in addition to those.

Any reading recommendations would be much appreciated.

Kit Washing - detergent preference

So I will preface this by saying I think we all are of the understanding that handwashing is the safest way to go.

However, when washing in the machine on delicate (of course), what is your preferred laundry detergent?

Is there a type or brand better than others? Liquid, pods, or powder? Etc

Also, generally speaking, what are your thoughts on OxiClean as it relates to kits?

Umbro Tags

I posted on the legitimacy check thread, and still waiting on response there about the shirt.

However, I also wanted to have a larger discussion about umbro and their tags. It seems that they have changed so frequently over the years and it’s hard to keep up with. Besides the dots what are the things you look for and is there a guide or “master list” of umbro tags and years - not the black-and-white graphic that I’ve seen, but maybe something with teal photos and the actual jerseys ?

Where to get vintage sports jerseys?

What stores in Seattle and the greater surrounding area have a good selection of throwback and vintage jerseys?

I know about throwbacks Northwest, so any locations other than that would be great . Also I’m looking for specific brick and mortar stores, not booths at flea markets.

2028 Euros and 2028 Olympics

Just got tickets for the men’s gold medal and men’s semifinal 2028 Olympics (Women’s final as well )

I know we saw an Olympic team fielded in 2012 when London hosted the games.

Do you think there will ever be a time when England and/or team Great Britain participates in the Olympics again?

Does the fact that Olympic years and Euro years coincide have anything to do with it? I know that’s not the case for other nations but have never really wondered about the FA’s stance on it all until now.

This is worse than the World Cup ticket draws

Must be run by the same set of idiots.

My Visa 1pm PT pre-sale had nothing “good” left as other others have already noted.

Not sure why I needed a 48 hour window when it was gonna be sold out in the earliest time slot anyway.

And heaven forbid if this is anything else like the World Cup, just wait till the secondary marketplace opens..

Ukraine based eBay sellers

Has anyone ever looked for retro and vintage jerseys on eBay and noticed that there is an unusually high number of seemingly-legitimate jerseys being sold from Ukraine?

Is there something I’m missing here?

US / UK Dual Citizenship Application Help

Based on everyone's encouragement, I am going to take a crack at the application on my own. I am curious right out of the gate about Section 1 eligibility (Question 1.4 specifically). I have assumed the merits of my application would be based on historical legislative unfairness. However, in looking at the application guidance, the examples offered for the "exceptional circumstances" category fit my situation too (example 13). The only difference between my situation and example 13 is that unlike Dwight, my father is not applying for the citizenship he was also denied. So I am checking yes to both historical unfairness AND exceptional circumstance, or just one? And if just one, which one is the proper one to choose?

Additionally, in the next section where my circumstances need to be explained it notes that it might be helpful to reference the guidance document and/or the category and legislation. I know what to reference in the guidance (example 13), but for the category and legislation am I touching on section 5(1)(b) of the 1948 Act only, or is there more? I know the Scotland v Romein (2018) case is probably worth a mention.

To recap, so you don't need to reference the example in the guidance:

-Grandmother was a UK Citizen and was married in the UK to a US Army officer in 1946. Then relocated to the US and eventually naturalized after my father's birth.

-Father born in 1948 in the US. Maternal lineage denied him UK citizenship at the time.

-Me: born in 1981, in the US. And the denial of citizenship being passed from my grandmother to my father ultimately prevented me from attaining it. Now that pathway has since been corrected and I just need to apply under the right category.

Name and Number Sets

For name and number sets, especially ones that are not current, which sellers are legitimate that you prefer and recommend?

Like anything else it seems that name and number sets are also frequently faked.

I’ve got an authentic England kit from a couple years back from when Jude Bellingham was still rocking number 22 and want to find the proper name and number set of his to add to this kit

NEED ADVICE: Sable International Cost and UK Dual Citizenship Application

I recently learned that I qualify for UK dual citizenship under Section 4L.

I am based in the United States, so navigating this process from America.

I understand the application is meant to be easy for an individual to complete on their own, however, there’s some nuance to all of it that I would feel better if I had a solicitor or outside help assisting. Sable international specializes in this work and is the most common hit on Google but quoted me £2800 for the process, which seems quite expensive. Especially given the fact that they only take on cases they feel strongly will be successful.

Curious, who other folks have used, if this fee is actually more reasonable, then I’m realizing it is, or any other advice you might have. I know most folks will say to just do it on my own, and there are definitely parts that I feel comfortable I could navigate, but it would give me great peace of mind and it would be my preference to work with someone specialized in these things.
