Nav mounting - Rally or Handlebar?

Just got a KTM 390 ADV R for 90% forest road, double and singletrack...and hopefully no more than 10% pavement on two-lanes. I've been riding a two-sroke 300 for 10 years without any navigation, but I'd like to use Gaia or OnX with the 390 via car play with my Cardo.

I'm hesitant to mount a Carpuride or similar unit above the OEM screen since i'm assuming it blocks the view ahead. I wonder if it's in my face up high if I'll be tempted to look at it instead of what's ahead. Conversely, if I mount it on the handlebar, then I'm probably looking down instead of the trail.

I'm 5'11 and like to stand up the trail calls for it, so maybe mounting the nav screen up high rally-style won't block my view in technical sections. Hoping to avoid mounting the unit multiple times to sort this out.

Appreciate any insight!

Best Day Brewing's Wild American Pilsner Is America’s Best NA Beer

With lagers — unlike other styles that may incorporate hops, fruit, or sweeter flavor profiles — “there is nowhere to hide,” he explains. “Every detail is exposed.”

Great new G-Shock design

Wow - a new G-Shock model that isn't just a different material or colorway!

Good news: beautiful case design, timeless colorways, and redundant timekeeping functions.

Bad news: way too spendy and Casio continues the ridiculous abbreviation of Movement to MVT.

This time they actually have to spell out the abbreviation 🤣

Deschutes FS Hazy vs Go Disarm Hazy

Go Brewing Disarm Hazy IPA: 4.1/5 stars

Complex hop flavors, pine and legit PNW character. Maybe a bit sour but pretty drinkable. Would buy again.

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed Hazy IPA: 3/5 Stars

There isn't a bigger fan of Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA (NA or leaded) than me. It was my go-to when I was drinking and it's my go-to for NA IPA. I would drink the FS Hazy with alcohol when Costco sold the 50/50 Fresh Squeezed cases, but it wasn't near as good as the regular FS and the same thing happened here. Now that I've had it next to the Go Brewing Disarm...I realize how mediocre it is. While the color is beautiful and it has a good mouth feel, there's no citrus, hop character or anything special.

Winner: Go Disarm 🍻

Wanted to get a Transalp to match the RL, but at least the straps match 🙂

Took a full bed of sod to the dump...so I treated myself and came home with a new bike 🤟

New bike day 🤟

Stoked to pick up a 2026 390 ADV R today. Had my shop pull off the Mitas tires and mount Motoz Tractionator RallZ. Hopefully I can keep it upright until the SW-Motech crash bars ship 🤞

Phone Experience

Just got the pixel 10 fold and I'm struggling to answer an incoming call when the phone is unlocked and I'm using some other app. The iPhone always took over the whole screen with the inbound call and I want that option. I'm in sales (and not technical) and just want the phone to take over what I'm doing so I don't miss a call.

Bar Risers & Cable Lengths

I rode my buddy's 2025 390 Adventure R and when I was standing up I felt a little stooped over. I'm considering getting the same bike and I think I read that if you add bar risers - there isn't enough additional length in some of the cables so you have to add some extension kit in order to bring them up higher. Is that the case?

Steering Damper/Stabilizer Advice

I'm an intermediate dirt biker and have been riding single track and desert on my 300 2-stroke for about 10 years and I've never had a steering stabilizer. I'm about to get a 390 Adventure R and have seen reviews saying that a stabilizer would be a good idea for technical riding.

I don't know if that's because of the geometry but I won't be riding much asphalt, 80% will be forest service roads and mildly technical single track.
