Puppy only pees/poops when wife walks him

My 3 months old spoo puppy has recently started going out as the vaccinations are finished. He was pee pad trained and learning to pee outside now. Not crate trained. Interestingly when wife walks him he relieves himself but when I do it on same schedule he doesn't want to. He rushes to pee pad when we come home. Is there such phenomena that dogs selectively relieve themselves depending on the person walking them? How to explain this with dog behavior?

High Awareness is a Burden for People with Values in Today's Society

Before beginning, this is not a ranting or a bragging post. More like a situation analysis and how to adapt to reality. I just want to exchange thoughts and opinions with critical thinkers.

I was raised as a child of highly educated, non-performative professional parents who are down to earth people. I experienced a childhood with means but not spoiled. Mostly isolated from society, guarded by parents and highly connected with family. My parents' main visions for life during my childhood was as follows:

  • Money is never meant for show-off but for stability. Live a simple life, save for crisis. Be low key and don't attract attention.
  • Society is not to be impressed for anything, listen for your inner self.
  • Respect others' boundaries and let people know your boundaries. Don't hesitate drawing bold lines.
  • Study and work hard. Use your potential. But don't put too much meaning on anything.
  • Don't be greedy on material things. That is an endless loop. Be thankful. Use your belongings to the fullest.
  • Life is not a race. Comfort zone (and stability) >> Experiences.

I internalized these visions and passed a childhood focused on real outputs. Became an engineer, worked for the most prestigious engineering company of my country, got MSc, made publications and got a patented invention. Living a way higher standard of life compared to society about my age. Did none of them for bragging but for achieving self stability, future comfort and fulfilling parents' vision in some way.

Despite these things, I get more nihilistic opinions on life day by day. I'm a highly sensitive observer with high awareness who is definitely on neurodivergent spectrum. I learned what society values more and how to adapt to it. But I feel like todays' society is way too much corrupted for values. "Signaling" status has become the norm. Being visible in what you do is everything. People even criticize performative behavior unless it gains attention of some people. Unluckily, these behavior has nothing to do with wealth status or education level. I have highly educated friends that are engineers, doctors and lawyers that I have known for half of my lifetime. All try to signal status in some way to the society. Friends who are heirs to their fathers' business act as if they are real functional executives, doctors act as if they are profs etc. Nobody cares about each other and everyone knows the real deal but still maintain facade of connections to overcome FOMO. I detect every insincere behavior and people's real motive while doing/saying something which I have a hard time tolerating.

These contradict highly with my values and I try to adapt this change in societal norms. Maybe it has always been like this but contacting society is inevitable at this age so I'm observing these now. I understand that in order to get the full potential out of myself, I have to give society what it wants in some way but feel to cringy while performing. I do what I do for myself, but I sense that insisting on this view will put me in a harder position in future and even threat what I'm actually trying to build in life. (Becoming invisible, to be treated below your actual status which means having a hard time getting things done or messing with errands). What are your thoughts on this and how do you persuade yourself in acting performative? Hope that I expressed myself and what I'm trying to tell well.

Poodle Puppy Hyper Energetic

I have 10 week old standard poodle puppy. It is my first time owning a dog and I’m loving it. He is going through vaccinations now and weekly checked by vet. He is healthy, eating well and gaining weight on a good curve.

I can understand that he is a pretty smart dog even as a first time owner. He has learned commands at a fairly young age, actively follows commands and eyes on my eyes most of the time. He can even understand that I’m going to leave him alone in his room during nighttime by seeing me closing the window and gathering his toys together. He cooperatively sits and goes to create without me enforcing him. No single whine or bark. I see this as success actually.

In the mornings, he partially cooperates while live him alone in his room as he barks/whines for like 5 mins. Other than that he is silent and relaxed during the day. I follow him with a cam.

However he is way too mouthy. I can’t even walk with bare feet at home. My ankles are all filled with bloody scratch marks. He also bites too much while playing. Not bloody bites but uses mouth all the time.

He knows the location of his pee pad and goes there nearly all the time even when he is at the farthest location at home. But sometimes he just poops in the middle of the room. I think this is a sign of gaining attention.

Are these behavior normal and accepted for a standard poodle puppy? Sometimes I have a hard time tolerating ankle bites.

Puppy Food for Standard Poodles

My 9 weeks old spoo puppy had giardia and coccidia when we adopted him so vet prescribed Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Puppy dry food during the treatment. We finished the packet and luckily treatment went well with other medications and he has been tested negative weeks ago after a single run of treatment.

My vet told me that I can switch to normal puppy food so I decided to feed him Royal Canin Medium Puppy as he is in the smaller standard range. He seems to kinda like the food considering the picky nature of poodles and gains around 600-800 grams per week. His poop's form is also normal for weeks. He is visiting the vet weekly for vaccinations and everything goes well in terms of health status.

My question is should I continue using this food or are there some other better choices out there?

5700x vs 14400F on DDR4 Platform

My current CPU is i7 7700k which needs an upgrade for sure. I'm going to buy a MB and a CPU. Going to combine them with my fairly new 3600 MHz 2x16GB DDR4 kit and 9060XT 16GB.

I will mostly play games on 2k resolution. I looked at reviews and these 2 CPUs seem to be performing fairly similarly. Both decisions cost nearly the same for me. Which one should I choose?

Standard Poodle Sel Grooming Trimmer Advice

I own a 9 weeks old standard poodle puppy. I'm thinking of buying a clipper/trimmer for future self grooming and relatively easy hygienic grooming purposes. It seems like it is time for his paws, sanitary area and face to be trimmed for hygienic purposes now. I'm thinking of using the clipper mainly for clean feet and clean face cut. In future I can also try easier cuts such as clean puppy cut.

I researched dog specific trimmers and they are quite pricey and I'm not a full time groomer. I'm thinking of buying a good non-pet marketed trimmer for this purpose. What are your suggestions on this opinion? For example is a Moser 1400 suitable for trimming puppy/adult dog without giving any harm to him?

Is reBAR benedicial for AMD cards?

I bought a 9060xt 16gb couple months ago and combined it with my old maximus ix hero mb. It has no native reBAR support. Due to some stuttering issues I encountered during some games, I was recommended enabling reBAR function. I then flashed the BIOS with a self modded image (pretty easy, you can look it up) and stuttering issues seem to have gone.

My question is does reBAR function have performance gain in modern AMD cards other than this? Can anyone tell their experiences with old MB+modded BIOS reBAR combo?

Which CPU/MB Combo is Valuable for DDR4 2K Gaming?

I have 9060XT 16GB and 32GB DDR4 kit that I'm thinking of pairing with AM4 or LGA1700 socket CPUs. What are your recommendations for valuable CPU/MB combo? I'm going to use the setup for 2k gaming. I have all the other parts. Just going to upgrade CPU and MB.

  • What CPU if I go with AM4? What MB?
  • What CPU if I go with LGA1700? What MB?
  • Will AMD or INTEL be more valuable and logical in this scenario?

Sensible Upgrade Recommendation

I have a rig that I built in 2018. I'm thinking of building a new rig/upgrading parts as I think the time has come. Here is the setup before starting:

  • ASUS Maximus IX Hero
  • Intel Core i7-7700K
  • 32 GB Ripjaws 3200 MHz RAM (upgraded from a 16 GB kit)
  • Sapphire Pulse 9060XT 16GB (bought 3 months ago for good price. Upgraded from GTX 980)
  • 1 TB NVME
  • 2x 2TB HDD
  • Corsair AX 860i PSU

I'm not a full time gamer or so. Just playing casual games here and there. My idea is to salvage RAM, GPU, PSU and NVME from this setup and just buy a MB, CPU a case(just for looks) and cooler. Then build a semi-new setup. However I'm thinking of sticking with AM4 or 1700 as RAM prices are quite expensive for DDR5 and already have nice DDR4 kit. Same with MB. Do you think sticking with older socket in 2026 is ok? I don't intend to play 4k with this setup. Just want to squeeze 9060xt.

I already have salvage psu's and storage which I can put in this old case and turn it into a home server.

What are your recommendations for CPU/MB combo both for Intel and AMD in this scenario?

Standard Poodle Puppy Biting Training

I adopted a spoo baby roughly 1 month ago. Before getting into the topic I have to say that the breeder stated he is 9 weeks old at the time of adoption but I suspect that he was just about 4-5 weeks old when I got him. I can say it by the walking stability and overall body/face structure at the time of adoption after making some research. Also the weight/development pace fits better to this scenario.

The baby seems to be pretty smart as he adapted to pee pads with little effort. Base training goes well in terms of solitary time adaptation and recalling simple commands such as sit/lay/stand up/paw/wait. Now at 8-9 weeks old, he is pretty energetic and playful. As he started to behave well when left alone, I gradually introduce the other parts of the home to him. He also started becoming more vocal and barks occasionally when something is off. I recognize that he barks just before pooping if he is far away to the pad or in need of water and is far away from the bowl.

His temperament seems to be good overall. The only issue is the play times. He uses his mouth pretty much every time as expected from a poodle. Bites ankles while walking together or hands/finger when playing. He also bites when I try to pet him every time. He uses bite inhibition but I worry that he will continue using his mouth when he becomes an adult. I suspect that this behavior might be caused by him being separated from his littermates and mother early.

Is this behavior at this age normal for spoos and am I being overly anxious? If not, how can I train him that using mouth on human interaction is not allowed? I enjoy playing with him this way at this time but wife is pretty concerned with both his and my behavior 😂

9 week old Miniature Poodle Puppy Training Advice

I adopted a miniature poodle puppy at 8 weeks old. It has been about 4 days now and things are going pretty well. It is my first time adopting a dog and I’m pretty perfectionist by nature so I have watched lots of training related material beforehand.

I built a playpen in a room which is roughly 2 times the size of the playpen. I leave the puppy inside playpen at all times and never let him move into other parts of the house. He sleeps a lot as expected and once he wakes up, I clean his pad if it is dirty, feed him and move him out of the playpen to play in the room. Then move him back into the playpen. Wait until he sleeps and move out of the room.

Potty training goes pretty well. When he is left inside his playpen, he always uses the pad. Some accidents only happen when he is out of the playpen but I move him into his playpen as soon as I notice him sniffing the floor.

Separation anxiety was pretty bad first night as he whined all the time after waking up if we are not visible by him. Now he wakes up and sleeps without whining too much. He cries only if he is awake and I somehow come close to his room and he notices me.

I don’t quite understand the point of crate training. Why would I lock him inside a box instead of training him how to behave at home alone? He is sleeping by himself right now so why do I need a crate? I don’t know much about dog behavior but it seems psychologically stressful to the pet I think. Any thoughts on this?

Another question is when should I let him free at home? I have no problem letting him sleeping with me or going into rooms. My only concern is he is going through internal parasite treatment right now so I will wait for my vets opinion on this at least to let him free.
