Confused with Amiga's Aspect Ratio

When I was 'young', me and my brother had Atari XE & Amiga 600, displayed on Grundig TV. Back in the day, I wasn't aware of any 'aspect ratio' terms, didn't mind any black bars, didn't mind any slowdowns, didn't mind waiting literally 5 minutes for the very first fight of Mortal Kombat II or loading a game from tape. That was a loong time ago. Wasn't bothered back then - these days I'm curious :) . With social media and these photos (from Retro Swiat facebook channel), I'm still confused as to - why do I see... well... considered to be a 4:3 display - Amiga games - sometimes as widescreen, wider than 3:2 at times, and sometimes I see those games almost perfectly 4:3. Could someone, using simple terms, explain, why is this so. Is that to do with the PAL / NTSC versions or is it to do with devs deciding to make specific look of the game. With MS-DOS things start to get fairly similar, with Amiga it's a bit of mystery to me.

Pocket Atari ST / XE, Amiga, Amstrad & C64 on the RG40XXV

It's emulation, it’s not a powerhouse, and it’s all plastic, but plays pretty good.

if you’d like to try it yourself especially if you’re new to retro computers on handhelds.

Pocket Amiga, Atari & C64 on the RG40XXV

A little teaser of what the Anbernic RG40XXV can do as a pocket retro computer.

Full tutorial guide here if you’d like to try it yourself especially if you’re new to retro computers on handhelds: https://youtu.be/BF2DLt0ZlXA

Amiga, Atari ST/XE, C64, Amstrad CPC and more all on a cheap little handheld I grabbed for around £54.

It’s not a powerhouse, and it’s all plastic, but plays pretty good.

Testing retro computers (Atari/Amiga/C64/MS-DOS/early Windows). MuOS has HatariB core implemented for Atari STE. Has also a good shader called: fakelottes-geom-mini.glsl - for small screen resolution and it's very light.

device: Anbernic RG40XXV

screen res: 640x480 / screen size: 4inch

system: linux, custom MuOS (mustardOS) / menu theme: C64

emulator: retroarch

crt shader: fakelottes-geom-mini.glsl

has a 'plasticky' feel if you’re used to premium or metal handhelds this will feel a bit cheap in the hand but screen is good, nothing fancy but for the price it's nice, paid 54 quid recently thought would be my amiga / atari st when out or in comfy bed at night. Blue floppy lookin colour ;)
