Why are a couple spots on my cabinet a bit different (level and texture)?

I’m converting an arcade machine and needed to paint the side white after realizing vinyl wrap wasn’t cutting it. Sanded the laminated MDF, Primed with Behr Acrylic-Alkyd enamel undercoater, sanded, then painted with Behr cabinet, door, and trim enamel in a satin finish, sanding between coats. in person it’s not bad (for someone like me who never painted outside of art classes before) but you can see with flash on in the 2nd and 3rd pictures that there’s a couple weird spots. I’m not upset about it as it looks good enough to me so i’m going to sand it with a fine sandpaper and let it cure for like a month before slapping some side art on so i’m not too worried but i would still like to learn. Why did this happen and how can i avoid it in the future?

Slow progress on my Pac-Mania conversion but still progress

Installed my new CPO, replaced red buttons with black, swapped out the crusty 1P 2P buttons, and began wrapping the sides of the machine white. I’m not sure how i feel about the wrap job so once i’m done repairing a hole in the wood on the left side of the machine i’ll wrap that side and see if it comes out better. If it does, i’ll install the side art. If not, i’ll have to paint instead. So far i’m pretty stoked with how it’s coming out. Anyone have any tips on making the seam where the vinyl wrap meets a bit more hidden?

Is this CPO worth saving or is it just generic enough where it’s not a mistake to remove and replace it?

I’m in the process of turning my multicade into a Pac mania cabinet (and use the 60-1 on a jamma switcher) so i designed and ordered some graphics for it. Just wanted to get a general consensus on if this multicade CPO is worth saving since some people get pretty mad about destroying original things. I see similar ones on ebay so i’m assuming it’s no biggie.

When do you guys decide to call it quits and get rid of a machine?

I’ve had this 1998 iMac 233 G3 Rev A since i was a teenager and some time in the early 2020s it stopped booting. No chime, no display, nothing. I’m no stranger to these getting really finicky as they age but i’m at a loss with this. I’ve tested the +5 and +12 volt rails, done the cuda reset, replaced batteries, attempted boot with no memory to see if i can even get an error beep and it’s still just flatline. All i get is the display degauss sound, fan spinning, and an orange. I just stripped it down to the bare components and inspected the fly back for cracks and looked for bulging or leaking caps and it’s all visually fine. There’s no glow on the neck of the tube but i read that if the logic board is bad it could fail to send the wake up to the display. I think i’m ready to move on and it’s a shame because this was my birthday gift and i loved it. Normally i would buy another working one and test the board in that to narrow it down but these are trendy right now and they’ve ballooned in price. It’s a shame too because the plastic in mine hasn’t gone excessively brittle yet and is still all in one piece. I’ve just lost faith in ever getting it to work again and i fear selling it would make it wind up in the hands of someone who would gut it and turn it into something else instead of fixing the problem. idk.

has anyone else had a feeling like this with a machine they really cared about?

How are there such high scores with a level count of zero? Do people hack these but still somehow run the stock software?

The highest i’ve ever scored was around 400k on the real machine (2nd photo) and i’ve been hoping to get that close with my Arcade1Up but playing right handed is still tricky to me. I didn’t think scores over 999,999 were possible?

The pipeline from Arcade1Up to a proper coin-op is absolutely real

picked up this multicade from Facebook Marketplace for $200 as it worked intermittently. Replaced the power cable as it was all chewed up and took it apart to deep clean and now it’s been working perfectly. It was just the power cable. The screen is super bright and clear and all the buttons and everything works as expected. It’s got one of those 60 in 1 iCade boards inside. I still need to replace the lightbulbs for the coin door, figure out why a new light tube isn’t working in the marquee, and get a coin bucket. I kinda underestimated how big it was but i managed to make space for it in my closet.

I've got a 14 Pro (the regular) and while it was pretty nice when it launched, over time I've been left feeling pretty sour towards it. It's just really heavy, always running hot, and the cameras never can decide what lens to pick. Lately my two biggest gripes are with multitasking and battery. I'm going to replace it i think because i know it's the most responsible and cost effective way of solving an active problem but i'm wondering if the multitasking has been getting on anyone's nerves lately too. It feels like the thing just cant multitask anymore since the newest iOS versions. It makes sense since the newest iPhones have more ram but it drives me nuts having instagram pause my music so i can watch a reel, and if i wait any longer than a minute the phone will dump the app and it will relaunch with my queue cleared. I cant cross reference stuff in reddit and instagram anymore with safari because it'll do the same thing. I've been eyeing the Air since it gets rid of the multi camera issues i have, and the weight issues and it's pretty cheap all things considered if you get it used and unlocked but i've been holding strong with my 14 Pro so far. Just curious if anyone else feels the same or if they've found a way to deal with the ram issues.
