Little restoration project

The Nintendo GameCube? Nah, it's the Hinobi GameBox!

Got a cheap GameCube and I'm planning on reshelling the console in atomic purple. I thought to myself once I learned that you can pop the jewel out "I should print a Hinobi Technology jewel for it!"

Not the first time I print this logo out either, I've printed a case badge for the case that has my retro Core2Duo build in it.

OpenMENU "Failed to restore save"

OpenMENU gives me that error for some reason, I just took the time to image my one and only VMU, extracted the saves off of it and created the virtual VMU files using VMU Explorer.

My thinking was that I could do the same thing I did with my PS1/PS2 memory cards when I got my PSxMemCard Gen 2, image the cards, extract the saves and convert them to the proper format. But OpenMENU just tells me it fails to restore the save to my VMU.

Does that means I need to let OpenMENU create the virtual VMU card and then I can transfer the saves over using VMU Explorer?

SC64 cart with 6TG chip but no button on the rear

Am I missing anything without the button on the rear of the cart? Is it just a simple solder job to add one to my cart? I'm not really playing 64DD games apart from F-Zero Expansion Kit. And what exactly does the test ROM you can call up when you press it down do?

Wanna upgrade from this Acoustic Research remote

Been eyeing the Sofabaton remotes for a while, would the U3 be a worthy upgrade from the ARRX15 remote I have? I mean sure I can still program it using RMIR, but some of the buttons have to be pressed down really hard before it registers a press.

Yeah I'm a sucker for remotes with a screen on it, but its especially because it allowed me to program everything I wanted the remote to do.

Already have a Raspberry Pi, where can I find a USB modem that includes an LVI?

I really don't want to buy a full DreamPi kit just for the sake of going online with my Dreamcast, I already have a Pi 4B that sees barely any use. So if I can just flash the DreamPi stuff onto its SD card, connect the Pi online and connect it up to my Dreamcast, that'd be ideal.

But I can't find any good sources for a USB modem with integrated LVI, I can solder a little though. I've replaced save batteries and soldered a header onto one of my Pi Zero 2, so I'm not afraid to do a bit of soldering.

Question about LED buttons and GP2040-CE boards

I'm planning on grabbing a GP2040-CE to rebuild my ITG style navigation controllers and they both use LED buttons, buttons with a small LED bulb that's part of the microswitch holder. I want to use the Brooks style harness to reconnect my buttons into a new enclosure that's gonna house all eight selection buttons.

My question being, does the Brooks harness allows you to connect LED buttons to the board? I want to use the GP2040-CE since it would allow me to set the buttons to go "Press button, LED comes on" and "Release button, LED goes out" to essentially mimic the behavior of the buttons on a DDR or an ITG cabinet.

Its always other models such as the E4 or the P3 Plus but not the P3 with the 6900HX APU.

Any good models out there whether its for changing the bottom plate to add a larger fan, a vertical stand or anything else really?

Changed the buttons and somehow got the wrong size and type, 24mm and snap-in instead of 30mm and screw-in. Nothing a bit of 3D printing couldn't fix though.

Changed the balltops with purple and orange, swapped the plungers on the start buttons to red, might print black plungers for the select buttons.

I'm basically going with a Halloween-esque color scheme! "Powered by Raspberry Pi" ? Not anymore! I swapped it with a GMKTec Nucbox G5 to get Naomi 2 and PS3 emulation going, but also get Lindbergh games going as well.

As much as I love playing with original hardware, I'm seriously wondering if I should wait for the M64 to go up for preorder or if I should get my console HDMI modded with the HiSpeedido kit.

I can't do micro-soldering so installing the kit myself is out of the question, only soldering skills I have right now are for soldering 40 pins header on a Pi Zero, or changing batteries on games that need a new battery to start saving again.

Should I just wait for the M64 and keep HDMI modding my N64 on the back burner for now? And look I would attempt the RGB mod on my console, if it was one of the revision that doesn't need an advanced RGB mod to be installed.

And on that subject. Does the HiSpeedido mod enables the use of RGB cables through the A/V Multi Out port, or is it strictly limited to the HDMI port?
