Bipolar II or BPD? Getting different diagnoses over time is really confusing

I’m wondering if there’s anyone here who has had a similar experience.

I was diagnosed almost 10 years ago with bipolar II disorder with rapid cycling and mixed episodes. At one point, my psychiatrist also mentioned cyclothymia, and I’ve also had borderline traits, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD noted over the years.
I’ve spent a long time trying to understand myself through the lens of bipolar II and learning about that diagnosis.

But recently, I’ve started seeing a new psychiatrist, and they think I might actually have borderline personality disorder instead, and that I may not have bipolar syndrome after all.
Honestly, I feel completely lost. Everything I’ve built my understanding on for the past years feels uncertain now, and I don’t know what diagnosis is actually accurate anymore.

Has anyone else gone through this kind of back-and-forth...being diagnosed with bipolar II and later told it might be BPD, or being diagnosed with BPD and later re-evaluated as bipolar II?

Has lamotrigine made herpes outbreaks more frequent for anyone?

Has anyone experienced this while taking lamotrigine?
We’re currently trying to figure out whether this could be an allergic reaction to the medication, specifically a serious skin reaction.
I also have type 1 herpes in the genital area, so it’s already something that happens from time to time, but I feel like since starting lamotrigine, it’s coming back more often.
I’m also wondering if anyone has noticed more frequent herpes outbreaks while on lamotrigine. It would really help me to know if this tends to happen, because if the medication is making my outbreaks come back all the time, I’m not really interested in continuing it.
I’ve been feeling a bit lost since increasing my lamotrigine dose. I also posted this morning because I’ve been feeling really depressed since the increase. On top of that, this started happening, and I was also sick last week. It feels like nothing is really going right lately.

Lamotrigine: Feeling Much Worse After Increasing my dose Anyone else?

Hi everyone,
I’m new to Reddit, but I really wanted to hear about other people’s experiences with what I’m going through right now. First of all, I want to reassure everyone that I’ve already sent a message to my doctor about all of this. I’m not looking for medical advice. I just feel a bit lost and would really like to hear from people who have actually been through something similar.

I was diagnosed with rapid-cycling Bipolar II with mixed episodes about nine years ago. However, I’m now seeing a different psychiatrist who thinks I may actually have Borderline Personality Disorder instead. My previous psychiatrist had already noted that I had borderline traits, so I’m still trying to figure everything out.

I had worked my way up to 100 mg of lamictal (lamotrigine)and honestly, I was doing really well. I felt better. Then my dose was increased to 150 mg, and ever since then I feel like I’m back at the beginning of my treatment. I’m depressed again, having dark thoughts, feeling like hurting myself, and feeling like life has lost its meaning. At the same time, I feel emotionally numb nut not in a good way. It’s like I’m just looking at life with a blank stare. I'm tired, and it feels like my brain is working in slow motion. I just don’t feel like myself anymore. I don’t know if this is a real side effect, if it’s just me, or if the medication simply isn’t working for me anymore. My anxiety grow up too. Like intense....

Even my partner has noticed a huge difference. When I was taking 100 mg, he kept telling me how much better I seemed. Now he says it feels like I’m falling into a deep hole.

Has anyone else experienced something like this after increasing their dose?

Thank you ❤️
