Any consensus on Linux vs Windows for Panther Lake/G3 Extreme?

Currently using a Legion Go 2 but looking to upgrade to Panther Lake. Right now, I mostly use Bazzite for gaming as I've found I get better performance there. The frametime on Linux is smoother than Windows while average FPS is slightly higher.

However, how are Linux OSes on the Panther Lake chip? Do you get better frametime and better performance? I know historically Intel isn't great on Linux in contrast to AMD but I've heard there have been some improvements recently.

Also for those that have/had a AMD device, is Windows on Intel smoother than for Windows on AMD?

What is the benefit or justification for weapon upgrade systems?

Hi all, I'm making this post to ask everyone where they think the justification or benefit of weapon upgrade systems is at?

Personally, I despise the Souls weapon levelling systems as they ultimately limit your choices and keep you restricted to a few weapons. With so many weapons out there with individual movesets, I find I cannot experiment with some weapons because I can't get them strong enough, especially when upgrade materials are limited (e.g. final upgrade materials). When bosses are kicking my ass, I'm not going to use the weapon that is underlevelled, even if the difference is minor. Even if the game gives you enough materials or allows you to buy an unlimited stock, it only reduces the detriment.

For me, the benefit isn't there when upgrades only boost stats. I've never felt stronger after levelling a weapon because when you upgrade your weapons as intended, enemies still die in the same number of hits. Endgame bosses that you fight with maxed weapons do not die quicker than early game bosses who you fight with low-level weapons. So the feeling of progression isn't there for me in contrast to getting more heals, climbing stamina in BOTW/TOTK or new weapon moves in DMC.

When you actually go to an early game area, you notice the difference, but you never really backtrack in Souls game, at least to destroy earlier enemies which are now easy. In contrast, I'm playing Mina the Hollower right now, where there's more backtracking and I'm fighting earlier enemies.

Essentially, I'm trying to ask where the benefit is for weapon upgrade systems.

I posted this on r/Eldenring, but just wasn't able to generate much discussion, with lots of people telling me to grind (though I've beat the game already) or people saying the game gives you enough materials to upgrade weapons. I don't find this argument really satisfying as it's just downplaying the detriment.

However, I was able to find some good arguments there, with some people saying they like the feeling of progression and the need for reused assets, which requires this system.

How is the software for OneXPlayer devices?

Looking to purchase either the Apex or the new OneXPlayer 3. I currently have a Lenovo device so I haven't had HUGE problems with Legion Space. It doesn't take away from the device. But I've heard that the MSI Claw has subpar software, which some users have reported to actually affect the gaming experience etc. by being unresponsive so you cannot adjust TDP, uses lots of RAM and CPU, crashing on launch.

How's the OneXPlayer software? Have you noticed that it affects the gaming experience in any way? Or do you use other software to adjust TDP, RGB, or remap buttons?

Do you get FOMO with OneXPlayer devices? (and other non-mainstream Chinese brands)

Hi, I'm looking to pick up the OneXPlayer 3 as I'm looking for an upgrade to my Legion Go 2 but with the LG2 I know that I have the 'best' Lenovo device. This is the same with the ROG and MSI devices where new flagship devices come out every 1-2 years.

But with OXP, GPD and other non-mainstream Chinese brands like Ayaneo it seems new flagship devices come out every few months. Apex was supposed to be the big thing yet the OLED of the OXP 3 outshadows it (for me). Not to mention the Apex needs to be plugged in which I don't love. It feels like these brands try to release new devices as fast as possible.

Not to mention there (might?) be a difficulty in reselling OXP and GDP devices as they're simply not mainstream.

So my question is: Do any of you, when owning a OXP device suffer from FOMO and feeling like you've missed out on the new 'best' device?

Ranked Queue - Do teams get paired with teams and solos with solos?

Just a short question here. I know above Masters there is no team queue, only solo. However, below Masters do solo players play with solos and teams with teams? Or can teams play against solos?

How do I receive the postcard from the headphones guy? Is the quest bugged?

>!I'm trying to complete the quest "Make a deal with Transactional Capital" and the questlog says that the headphones guy gave me a postcard at Foto 24. However, I am there and I am unable to receive the postcard to progress, and have already checked all interactables. Can someone please explain specifically how to progress? Thank you!<

FIXED: Leaving this here if others encounter the same problem but you need to inspect a specific artist's fan club postcard.

How much do you value OLED? Should I sell the Legion Go 2 to get the Claw 8 EX AI+?

The Claw 8 EX AI+ is coming out with the G3 Extreme and it's reported to have 42% performance gain over the Z2E. Assuming that's true (possibly not as it's reported by Intel), this is a generational leap in contrast to the Z2E with the Z1E. The new device costs $1500 so it's comparable to the original price of the LeGo2.

My question to everyone and what I've been thinking is, is OLED a big deal?

For OLED, it's arguable that most games that you would play do not need extra performance. IMO only 10% of games would need the extra performance and the OLED looks amazing with the colours and everything.

However, a counterpoint is that you would you get used to an IPS screen. I have a Switch and used to have a ROG Ally X before my LeGo 2. The screen on the Ally X looks horrible when compared side-by-side to my LeGo2, but when I was using it, you don't notice the difference. My laptop screen is IPS. Same thing, I don't notice that it's not OLED and think it's inferior. Whereas for every frame drop you will notice the performance drop.

Would like to know your ideas on the importance of OLED and whether I should sell the LeGo2 to get the new Claw
