Basing Materials and Texture Rollers

Hi All

I'm in the process of planning out a project for a Conquest last argument of Kings forces and as part of the project I want to try my hand at using rollers to create cool biological patterns on the bases. I see a lot of people recommending clays and putties with rollers but I feel it doesn't give the effect that I want to achieve as it looks better for man-made things brick roads and cobblestones.

My plan is to 3D print a roller with a pattern before rolling over the basing material I place on the bases.

My question for those of you that have done this is, have any of you done it using wet texture basing material like AK Interactive's Terrains Wet Ground (SKU AK8016)? If so what were your results like? And finally is there a particular basing material that you recommend over others?

I appreciate you sharing your experience and photos of your results, if you have the time,

Thanks and Happy Hobbying

Spire Project Planning: Basing Ideas using the lore

Hi All

I'm in the process of planning how I'm going to paint up and base a new Spires forces and I had a question for those of you who may have access to the Lore book as the information I am chasing doesn't appear to be on Parabellum's site.

As a bit of context, like many, when I plan a project I like to look at the lore and faction artwork to get an idea on how to paint up my minis, however in this instance I am struggling to find references in the lore and artwork to give me the inspiration I typically look for.
Specifically what I am looking for are details on the appearance of what the land in a Spires colony looks like for me to paint up the bases for my minis, things like where they have constructed spires on Ea, such as do they have colonies/spires in the Wastelands, Dying Lands or the Hundred Kingdoms?
When the Spires occupy an area do they change the land they occupy in some way? If so how does it look?

I know its a bit pedantic and I can paint these bases however I chose, however I like to be true to the setting as it is part of my process that allows me to challenge myself when I start new projects.

So if any of you can share snippets out of the lore book that has this detail I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

Drukhari Model Recommendations

Hi All

I've recently found a local group of gamers that play 3rd and 4th edition 40K and I was thinking for a project I could print off some Drukhari as I used to play them back in those editions, however I'm a little warry of their spindly details.
If anyone has found some decent proxy models on myminifactory or cults that print up reasonably well on a Bambu A1 with a 0.2 nozzle using either Resin to FDM or other methods I would greatly appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks in Advance

Underdog Factions during 3rd, 4th and 5th Ed

Hi All

I've recently come to learn that I have a local group that regularly plays midhammer 40k rotating between 3rd, 4th and 5th Editions. Given that my entry into 40k came during 3rd/4th edition I was thinking of giving it a go.

Since it has been a while since I played these editions I'm unfamiliar with the general playstyles of the each of the playable factions and I was after some input from those that play semi-regularly.
As a player I'm a sucker for an underdog faction as I like the challenge of getting factions that are aren't necessarily powerful due to their rules or model range, to be successful as I feel it is more rewarding as a player.

So my questions is which faction in these editions fits this "archetype" of being the underdog.

I appreciate the comments in advance
