996 ticking noise when cold

Ticking noise on start up, car has been sat for 3 weeks’ish, and it had a flat battery, but I had this ticking sound on startup, the car also felt and looked like it was running a little rough, noticeable engine movement and juddering.

Went for a drive, got it to temperature and it runs sweet. No issues and no ticking noise when I got home.

Anything to be worried about?

W204 Mercedes c200 - Ongoing alarm issue! Losing my mind.

Replaced the alarm siren and overhead alarm module in the headliner.

Local garage ran a code read, and found the battery and a door lock module had not been coded to the car properly. They sorted this and the car locked and the alarm was working for around 2 hours! I thought, great!!! But then it went off again.

Prior to this, the alarm would go off instantly after locking. So odd.

Any other suggestions?

I know people say the SAM which I’ve had a look at but can’t see anything, I’ll have another look in more detail to check for corrosion.

Some people say a bad ground too, which I’ve not looked into yet. Anyone know where the grounds are?

Also not a faulty bonnet latch sensor, that’s working fine.

Suspension advice

Looking for advice on the best option for a suspension uplift. I know something like B8’s would be great, but very pricey. Is there a coil over option on the standard suspension and is it worth it?

I see a lot people mention spacers too, are there any downsides to them at all? Are they just for visual improvements? Do they affect anything?

TIA

Yellow enough to polish?

I’m thinking yes, but not sanding, they are clear with no hazing. I was thinking compound polish and then some UV protective wrap film instead of spraying them with a clear coat.

From what I’ve seen online this is the best option.

Rear wing button - what’s happened to it?

Just taken ownership of an 03 C4S, and thought the rear wing button/indicator looked odd. After removing the trim, you can see it’s not a button, just a blank plate with an LED.

Should this be an actual button?

If not, then even this blank plate looks non original.

Or should there not even be anything there?

Could anyone help me find the right brake discs? 2019 xc60 B5

I find it all so confusing with so many options and almost every online place offering multiple products that are all different. I can't find a definitive place to find out this information either.

I have 19 xc60 B5 R-Design with 22" wheels (I know, massive...does this change the brake rotor?)

I can't find exactly what front brake discs and pads I need? Is there some dedicated parts finder?

I am based in the UK.

Thanks!

New C4S owner

Bought a few days ago! Such a beast. Loving it.

90k miles, really well looked after. Spotless paint. New tires, discs, pads recently. It’s had an LN engineering IMS done which is great news.

Spec: PCM2 infotainment, sports seats, no sunroof, manual, chrome accent trim interior and PSE exhaust.

Only bad bits, remote locking not working so I’m working on replacements. PSE not switching, got a vacuum leak somewhere and air-con not working. A few things to sort.

Alarm goes off instantly when using the key to open

The key fob itself isn’t working remotely, but when opening the car using the key manually, the alarm sounds instantly when the door is opened, giving me zero time to insert it.

When I insert the key in the dash and turn to position 1 or 2 the alarm is still sounding! It doesn’t stop until I start the car up.

This happens probably 60% of the time, other times the alarm stays off as normal and gives me the 10 seconds to insert the key.

Any advice?

A bad WAM module

Been having intermittent camera problems on my 19 xc60. I took it to Volvo today, for a £79 code read and was told that the WAM (wide angle module) module needed replacing for £680.

So, does anyone know if these things are coded to the car? Can I buy an exact replacement myself from eBay and fit it?

Thanks!

Looking at a 996 c4s that’s barely moved for a few years

Looking at a C4S soon that’s “been very well looked after” but it’s barely moved at all for years. Current owner has had it 4 years, MOT every year. Previous owner had it 9 years.

I don’t have too much info on it, I don’t know its service history and oil changes etc…all questions I need to ask.

Is this a concern though? They’re machines. They like to be run and lubricated.

The spec on it is top notch, looks super clean.
