Second tournament was held last Friday and the finals was an instant-classic! Really awesome to see all of the decks being brewed and the depth of Escape Land being shown off by amazing players!
Shoot, Escape Land artist Jett Yates even joined in on the fun! Can’t wait for tournament no. 3!!!
Surreal to think back to the early days of playing with poker decks back in 2024 to seeing this all the way through, funding on Kickstarter, running tournaments, and building an entire community.
Beyond proud of where Escape Land is today, and so excited to get these cards out into the world!
This post gets further into the strategy in Escape Land and shows off come awesome combos you can pull off in any game! Hopefully this inspires folks to start brewing decks, or writing more articles about TCG’s - since it’s definitely my favorite medium to work in!
Being able to show love to the games and properties that inspired us has been really cool. This one in particular is awesome since it’s one of Jett Yates, the artist, favorite games!
Morbidos is a really popular Legend in the game due to it being sort of an undead Mothman, paying tribute to work Jett did on Metazoo. Taking this Critter and giving it this treatment, paying tribute to Hollow Knight, has been amazing to see and I really hope everyone enjoys it!
It’s been really awesome working on a game and being able to have the artist pay homage to the games that inspired aspects of Escape Land. Undertale being an indie game with the option to spare monsters was a big part in why I made the win condition of the game based on rescuing monsters and setting them free.
One of the members from the official discord for Escape Land had an amazing idea to take one of the best Critters, Deceptnut, and pay homage to Conker! Jett Yates, the artist, came up with this and I’m super excited about how it turned out! Really looking forward to putting this on a card and finding more ways to pay homage to classic N64 games!
Got some inspiration from AnAfroDragon in the Escape Land Discord to do an homage to Conker’s Bad Fur Day! Deceptnut is the menacing squirrel pictured, one of the best cards in the game, and Jett did an amazing job bringing this to life! I’m super excited to keep doing more stuff like this, and of course to create some really awesome cards for event prizing!
