This is the update post - see the original post here https://www.reddit.com/r/metaldetecting/s/RVgm9rzKD4
Thanks to the first post, several fellow New Yorkers with metal detectors answered my plea for help. One person from Brooklyn reached out, and we agreed to meet up, she even brought a friend along!
Taking advice from the comments on my last post, I hit up a hardware store and grabbed a roll of wire mesh that looked like the right size. I cut it with shears to fit over a clear plastic container. I also brought whatever I could get as dividers – a compact ironing board frame, a thick picture frame mat board to use as dividers and paper towels cardboard box (the most useless thing).
In the photos, you can see just how massive the pool was. We targeted the specific area where the ring went missing, plus a buffer zone around it in case it shifted.
Unfortunately, just like during my first amateur attempt, neither the metal detector nor the pinpointer worked. The floor structure underneath was full of metal reinforcement, so the detectors were either completely blind or beeping non-stop. Since we assumed the ring had sunk to the bottom, we needed to scan right against the floor – which made the detectors completely useless.
The Strategy
We decided to isolate sections of the pool using our dividers, scoop out all the beads, and sift them through the mesh into the plastic bin. Once sifted, we dumped the clear beads on the far side of the pool and repeated the process.
We started along the edge, hit the bottom fairly quickly, and then moved the dividers to expand our grid. At that point, we ditched the detector and pinpointer entirely and just sifted with whatever we had on hand: a kid’s bucket, a plastic beach shovel, and grocery bags.
To be honest, it felt like a true Sisyphean task. The container would fill up instantly, but the pile of beads in the pool didn't look any smaller. I thought a thousand monkeys in a thousand years would def do the job, but there were only three of us and we two hours before the place closed.
The Discovery
About 30 minutes in (and 10 containers filled), Alisha stopped and said "Wait, is this it?" and picked something up.
It was the ring! It was sitting right on top of the surface, just outside our active search area. I am 100% positive it wasn't on top when we started—our digging and shifting of the beads must have pushed it upward.
All’s well that ends well! And next time hit the Space Club, make sure your valuables are in a zippered pocket!
So my wife dropped her wedding ring in a KIDS BEADS POOL about 1 foot deep. I spent a good hour trying to find it but no luck. Since it’s indoors, a metal detector I rented was either not beeping or beeping all the time prob on a metal floor frame - the structure is a former warehouse. I’m willing to pay a reasonable fee for a person who’d go to that kids club with us and dig again. The overall size of the pool is like 12x30’ and I estimate the ring could be within 12x12’ range. Please reach me in DM or leave a comment if you’re interested!

I wonder if the person who made AI crop feature still gets his salary.
At the first image, I set the first highlighted thumbnail as AI crop reference. The second image is my "consistent" result.
On top of that, when I submit such issues to CO along with all relevant images, in a month I get an answer saying "please provide screen capture video of the issue". 10/10.
Sometimes the smart adjustments feature works fine but today it completely gave up.
The first game got a cult following because it turned tables, instead of hunting enemies, the player became hunted. There's no lack of Alien games where the player can shred thousands of aliens to pieces, and these games keep coming out. So why the hell people still want AI2 to be just one of this completely skippable games where you shoot aliens, zombies, nazis, robots, mutants, you name it. There's no lack of such games. But there's much less survival-type exploration games.
Having scale trains as terrain always amused me. O scale 1:48 supposed to be right for FWW and easy to buy but I found the pieces too large and difficult to store. So I went with S scale 1:64 which is 1.5 smaller than O but still looks fine for the game and takes less space. It was much more difficult to find though. As a bonus since all of this stuff is metal, it worked really well with my magnetized bases.
Closeup photos are focus stacked (each composed of 2 images with diff focus points).
So I dont want to install more than 2 mods and obv the first mod is mimic mod. But Im torn about the 2nd mod. Share your thoughts fellow psychonauts.
Hi all. I finally came to play Prey and I love it. I have a strong SS2 background, and its story told via audiologs still amazes me.
Although I found it difficult to read the countless emails and especially books, notes and magazines, trying to tell whats important and whats not. Part of it is that emails lack of any graphic info such as SS2 had (avatars) and dates (again as is SS2) that back then helped me to tell senders from each other and build event chronology.
So I just look at emails, scan them quickly, and keep going. Also Im not a teenager anymore and have limited time to play, so Id rather progress on the game rather than read some insignificant fill-in background banter.
With the books Im not even trying. I feel that the story details are missing from me but I can't help to overcome this issue.
Who else felt the same? How much I am missing? Will I still be able to get the main plot via audio conversations and cutscenes?
Apologies if its a known fact.
So you can take PCC out for placement before accessing a teleporter. After the jump you'll still hold the PCC in your hands.
I used it for placing ziplines but possibly there is other usage too.
Didnt check with outher items though.
Hear me out.
Lit flare aimed throw is just 1AP, meaning 10 throws a turn.
A flare is almost harmless, but a critical hit + better criticals perk can lead to instant death.
So with the right build, one turn means 10 throws means 10 instakills. Or at least 5 which is not that bad too.
Does anyone have a decent throwing + critical build to test it?
