Found at antique shop for $7

First, I noticed under the dusty and cracked crystal: “Bulova 23 Jewels.” I shook it and it started ticking… had to have it. Appears to be a 1959 Bulova 23 DAW with a 10KT “Rolled Gold” bezel, white gold I’m assuming. Higher end 10BZAC movement. Has a stainless stretch bracelet that just needed a cleaning.

Awesome little thing still ticking away, keeping great time. I’m gonna replace the crystal, clean off the gunk, and maybe sell it to fund this new-found hobby.

Orient Star Contemporary

Orient Star Contemporary (ref. RE-AT0002E). It’s a 39.3mm case and 46.2mm lug to lug. I was worried it would be too big for my 16.5cm wrist (6.5in), but it was finally delivered today and fits wonderfully. I sized the bracelet and also tried a leather strap on it. I’m just in awe. It’s my first mechanical watch and I love it. I think this will scratch my itch for a good while.

The beginnings of a long journey to come

Casio A700W-1A | The first watch I purchased for myself. Goes well with any fit. Legendary. Timeless. Practical.

Timex Expedition Metal Field T49870 | I am quite outdoorsy and this will be my companion. The Indiglo really is all they say. The ticking is louder than most, but I like hearing it, actually. Absolutely love the smaller 37mm case on this model. And the brushed metal with the leather strap and cream dial are 👨🏻‍🍳 💋

Michael Kors Slim Runway MK2512 | This watch was gifted to me years ago and I wore it quite a bit when it was new. Rose gold was in. It had light gray rubber straps. I fell out of love with it eventually as rose gold fell out of style. The battery died and it sat in the center console of my car for years. Once I found this hobby, I wanted to tinker with it and see if I could replace the battery and get it going again. I did and that was fun, but I still found it unappealing. Then I realized I could change straps. I wondered if a lighter brown leather strap would pair nicely with the rose gold, hide it even, maybe. It did. I’m in love with it again. Though the 42mm case is really just a hair too big for my wrist. But I’ll rock it every now and then nonetheless – being that it’s my first modded watch (kinda, if straps count as modding).

From here I’m sure I’ll acquire a handful more ultra affordable watches. My current dream watch, though, is an Orient Star Contemporary RE-AT0021L with an open heart, power reserve indicator, and blue dial. Eventually.

First watch I’ve bought for myself

It looks soooo good in person. I’ve been shopping around online for a while, and then when I saw it in person I knew I had to have it.

Anyone know if the extra links can be removed?

Looking for first watch

I’ve got an Amazon wish list going. But want to see if I’m missing any contenders. Looking for analog watches, automatic or quartz, from reputable brands, 38mm or smaller, for under $100. So far I’ve got on my list: Timex Weekender, Timex Expedition Camper, Timex South Street Sport, Timex Easy Reader, Casio MQ24.

I also have a few that are far beyond the $100 mark, as a dream for someday. Bulova 96B149, Citizen Men's Automatic Tsuyosa Sport Luxury Watch, Seiko Mojito Automatic 203540. Anyone know of automatics that are sub $100? And good brands of course.

Marketplace find! I think the signature is “Rothman”. Nothing on the back. Wether it’s significant or not, we love it!

Can someone remove my moob? I’m the dad in the red shirt

If you use an AI tool that’s fine, as long as nothing else in the image changes.
