Preventing my characters from just leaving a setting.

I’m working on a horror piece set in a rural town that has a creature lurking around. I’m having trouble finding a reason why my protagonists won’t just drive away. Right now my two main thoughts are: 1) they could just be out of gas or 2) They get in a car accident in which the car needs to go to a mechanic or is otherwise unusable. Neither of which I really like. Does the creature slash the tires? Why would it do that? Idk every solution I’ve come up with so far just isn’t working in a way that I like. Advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

(Sorry if this kind of thing isn’t allowed or formatted wrong, this is my first post on this sub.)

My nail split 😩😩

This is an older pair of nails that I’ve worn several different times but this morning I noticed my pinky nail cracked 🫩 I don’t want to have to retire these, but it might be time. I would love any suggestions on repairing them.

Retail Brand: Olive and June - I can’t remember exactly what they’re called but the O&J Puffy Cherry set is similar.

Habit Stacking Actually Helped Me

It feels ridiculous to say it but it felt kind of like a dumb trend people were talking about but I feel like habit stacking is genuinely very helpful. For those unaware it’s basically when you intentionally create ways to do multiple habits or actions either simultaneously or in quick succession. My main “trigger” to kick this off is a shower, without this Im practically useless.

While in the shower I use my water flosser, then when I get out my tooth brush and skin care are already on the counter so I might as well use them while I’m waiting for my body to dry. Now that my body is mostly dry, I’ll put lotion on and do anything I need to do with my hair. It feels so stupid but it takes so much longer and feels so much more difficult to do all of those things without my “trigger event.”

I’m still playing around with other ways I can do this in life. I want to go to the gym so I’m trying to poke around and find a good trigger event to get myself to go to the gym and then flow into my shower. Overall it’s been really helpful.

Doggy Cafe Trip!

We just moved to a neighbor that has a doggy cafe nearby! Pepper was very excited for her big dog treat! It was yogurt, pumpkin and sweet potato with whip cream on top! It was way bigger than we expected so she has leftovers in the freezer for a later date lol

Why are we posting newborn photos?

I get it … I guess?? I understand wanting to show your kids to friends and family but I don’t want to be jumpscared by your fresh baby while scrolling on Instagram. They always look a little fucked up. I understand the parents thinking the baby is cute but I very much am perturbed. Also with everything going on with the Epstein Files and also just generally predators online maybe don’t post your kids?? I feel like I’m going crazy

At this point is getting a diagnosis worth it?

Hello everyone, this is my first post in the sub, so apologies if this isn’t the type of post you normally see. I’m decently sure I have POTS and have been pushing to get tests from my primary. They’re very uninterested in doing so and I’m getting fed. I’m starting to ask myself is it worth it in the long run? Will my life really change from being diagnosed or will it be another problem I have to fight with my doctors about? From people who’ve been diagnosed, do you think it was worth it? Have your symptoms improved? Thanks for the advice.

The strangest flare up just happened to me

I just had the most bizarre flare up I’ve ever experienced. I was trying to fall asleep when I felt the acid reflux pain start to kick in so I did what I normally do. I immediately got some water, took my Gaviscon tablet and got in the shower. (The hot water also helps me) Not two minutes into my shower I felt extreme acid reflex pain and then just start throwing up like crazy. It probably lasted five-ish minutes and now I’m totally fine. No pain, no discomfort, nothing. My tub is now squeaky clean and I’m back in bed. I have never had a flare up like that before. While I’m relieved at the quick relief I am beyond confused. Anyone experience something like this?

I’ve been seeing tons of clips of that TLC show Unexpected which is basically a revamp of 16 and Pregnant. It’s so gross to me how shows like this are very clearly trying to impress onto people that your teen daughter getting pregnant will make you famous. I mean that’s partly because TLC is so predatory but I think most US Americans (myself included) don’t think that critical about stuff like this.
The kids that I’ve been seeing the most are 15 and 13. The 15 year olds mom seems like a vile woman who wants her daughter to get pregnant again. I know this is all dramatized for tv but it drives me crazy how this is being push onto people. Teen moms aren’t the worst thing in society and need support but blasting them on TLC is sad and kind of gross.
