Default door open action

Does anybody know if there is any way to choose, influence, or set the default door open action?

I just moved an undercoverbro and had to restart the mission because he decided to kick a door in a big middle room in the middle of a mansion surrounded by like 50 jihadis.

I know someone is gonna say yOu sHoUlD HaVe cHeCkEd tHe cOmMaNd... yes... I am aware. I even usually do! I didn't wake up and decide to deliberately gamble restarting this mission out of boredom.

I've just noticed sometimes the first command to pop up is kick and other times open normally, and I have no idea how or why the game decides which to choose.

It would make sense if, say, undercoverbros defaulted to polite open and assaulters defaulted to kicking. I'm not saying that's what I want, I'm just saying it's an example of a system that would make instead of what we have rn where I honestly don't know what's going to happen.

I'm also curious why it was done this way instead of at least making one or the other the default always for consistency. Literally it was a double door, I selected to politely open the left side, then I wanted to do the same again to the right side but it defaulted to kick. Why would it do that?

Post-donation volume adjustment

(Disclaimer: not a medical question, question about blood donation service methodology for calculating and reporting blood volume.)

I'm in Canada, and the Canadian Blood Services app on my phone lets me track my stats such as hemoglobin, bleed time, and donation volume.

There's always a window after my donations where they drastically overreport the volume. I gave on Tuesday this week, Wednesday it reported a number over 550 mL, and now today it's settled back down to 491 mL.

Can anyone tell me why this is?

Secondary question: it's very slight, but if you graph my donations over time and regress it, there is a very slight upward trend in volume. I'm not worried about it or anything, but I am curious if it's just coincidence or if there might be some kind of mechanical reason for it.

Pic unrelated but required to post.

(Tried to post this in r/Blooddonors but got sent here.)

M56 deployment from lying down

I assume SPWIM (some pedant who isn't me) has already pointed out that when employed while lying down, ackshually it's from the supine and not the prone. (The USCM technical manual says prone, but the accompanying illustration depicts the operator supine.)

This is a little weird. Yes, it's unique, memorable, and makes the 'verse stick out. But apart from the operator being at risk of blowing off their own feet, you're craning your neck, and your field of view is limited.

No actual military would ever do this. "The gun is set up that way" no, I do not believe a country with both interstellar travel and a very long history of developing its own firearms both from scratch and as iterations of others' work would let this happen, and especially not the Marines.

Have any works in the canon actually shown this happening?

There's also nothing to indicate why this is the case. Yes, the operator wears a breastplate which would be underneath the torso while proned out, but there's no hint that it's so fragile or something that the operator couldn't lay on it, that it contains highly fragile or sensitive electronics or something. This is a combat system designed for the battlefield. What gives?

Edit: a typo

How do you transport your armour with no car?

(Leaving aside the fact that leaving your armour in a hot car is super terrible for it.)

I bus all over this frigging city, and if you don't have a permanent site where you can leave your armour, transporting it is a pain in the ass. I've done on-body with a T-shirt or whatever over it. I've done in an XL reusable grocery bag, though if the bag has handles instead of straps then it wants to fold the armour (do not do this). It's basically a bulky and awkward load approaching ten pounds that you can't easily sling in a backpack, more if your belt and cuffs and weapon are in there as well.

I think I have to buy a dedicated fucking gear bag. I have a biggish gym bag but it's just a tiny bit too small to comfortably fit my vest. A hard case might also be nice given I just found someone left a coiled extension cord on it (my vest was flat on the floor in a bag at the house) and although that amount of weight shouldn't be an issue on its own I would like the people around me to get in the habit of NOT leaving shit on my fucking body armour.

A hard case feels like overkill though plus do they even exist?

Anyway looking for gear bag recommendations at this point I guess

Where have all the comfortable chairs gone?

As I write this, I'm in a restaurant in a hotel in Anglo North America. It occurred to me, imagine going back in time and grabbing one of those 1960s Mad Men business executive dudes, and bringing him to *literally any* modern restaurant where they expect you to sit on basicass wooden chairs with zero cushioning or comfort. You literally can have a comfy wooden chair, wood chairs don't have to be uncomfortable but it's like they purposely make them uncomfortable intentionally.

This is the same no matter if you're in a McDonald's, Subway, diner, hotel bar, neighbourhood cafe, whatever. Doesn't seem to matter how fancy or not fancy the place is.

Meanwhile if I go to Europe I can find espresso at a cafe for the equivalent of 80 cents, and the chairs are comfortable, maybe even ridiculously plush - they might be old, visibly beat-up, worn, but they are COMFORTABLE.

What is the deal? And don't tell me it's to drive turnover, even if you're correct. I want the reason behind the reason. (Even if that's just "psychotic capitalism.")

Outdated scheduling/dispatch info

Say 85 million years ago, your company got a contract to guard Room X while a client did some renovation. Basically stand at Room X and keep an eye on things, or do access control, whatever.

The reno has been finished for a long time, multiple years. The Room X position no longer exists. These days, whoever fills that position is still at the same site, but doing a completely different set of roving tasks in multiple locations that have nothing to do with Room X. Same client, same site, wildly different job (but still security).

However, your company's management/schedulers and dispatch team have not updated the name of the job in their computers. So when somebody on the floater list gets a call to go fill in at that site, they get asked "Hey, are you available for the Room X duty at blah blah blah?" and show up expecting a completely different job than they're getting, maybe even one for which they haven't been trained or are not even qualified.

What's the worst example of this you've seen?

Why is this processor factory not getting power?

I have an unupgraded nuke plant, plus a coal plant with one basic upgrade. I have 117 surplus MW. Every single other building in my city has power except this processor factory. It said roads in this game carry their own power lines so you don't need to build separate ones.

Is it the fact that there's no other buildings on the avenue (and there's a tiny gap between the factory and the buildings to the left)? Do roads not "receive" power until they have at least one regular RCI building?

Edit: wait a minute... is the game seriously gonna tell me I saved up $160k for this building but I can't use it because I put the wrong type of road down and I have to demolish it and drop another $160k?

Edit 2: I was able to fix it by downgrading the avenue from high density to medium.

Editing business/building names

Is there any way to mod the game or edit game files to change the names of businesses etc.?

I was going to recommend this to someone, but they had a family member pass in a pretty specific way that the game mentions / jokes about. I don't expect this game or any game to be sanitized for our benefit, but I wondered if there might be some kind of workaround.

Aight so no specific spoilers pls. At a certain point in the game, it gets raised the possibility one of your allies may be (or may have been replaced by) a super spooky shapeshifter, right?

So... I happen to have this weapon that deals extra damage to shapeshifters. So I went around the camp and poked everybody with it. Well, all the party. And Volo (he screamed and ran away lmao). Didn't poke Withers, miscellaneous children, a housecat, the dog, the owlbear cub, but I poked all the large humanoids that routinely participate in combat. And Volo. (Sorry Volo?????? I guess?????)

Anyway, looking at the tooltips in the combat log... nobody took an extra 1d4 damage.

What I'd like to know is:

Does this mean there is actually no shapeshifter, and the person who told me was lying?

Or, there is a shapeshifter, but for plot reasons I'm not allowed/supposed to discover them via gameplay this way / "early"?

I saw a thread basically saying the whole shapeshifter thing ends up being a spoiler if you find out who. I'm just kinda lost because in a cutscene you're prompted to "investigate" but there is no quest marker, no quest entry in the journal, and no dialogue options in camp or elsewhere to, like, ask my party members something only they would know, or something.

TLDR, am I actually supposed to investigate in gameplay terms or is it just taken for granted that we're all frantically grilling each other behind the scenes?

My character is a Ranger bounty hunter with investigation specialty, so you'd think I'd get to use that lol.

I was hoping I could maybe 1) help their shop get back on better footing 2) help cure Baelen's medical condition 3) help either mend their relationship or help them separate peaceably (if not amicably) 4) maybe there would be something else they needed doing, or something they help you with... etc.

Nope. Instead I honestly just wish I'd never met them because Jesus Christ what the fuck was that.

On that note... my level 11 Rogue should really frickin' unlock the ability "Close Curtains" because it's really annoying sneaking around somebody's house and then it's like "Flaming Fist Jim Bob spotted you in a clearly lit area" through the windows from 30 feet away
