Is VDM stupid?

The Kofar Mata Dye Pits in Kano, Nigeria, are the oldest in Africa, operating since 1498. Spanning over five centuries, local artisans use natural indigo to hand-dye traditional textiles. Visuals capture vibrant blue fabrics, deep clay pits, and time-honored craftsmanship.
TYE and DYE (Adire) is not Youruba exclusively. It is universal.
I thought the VDM guy was reasonable, (even though I never listened to his loud utterances). Can someone tell me why VDM was screaming on top of his lungs to call the minister of youth a moron because the man mentioned adire? It is crass, uncouth and absolutely uncivilised?

President Peter Obi: Risk of executive paralysis?

If Peter Obi won the Presidency, his administration would likely face immediate executive paralysis.
In Nigeria’s political system, a President cannot govern in a vacuum; they require the cooperation of a National Assembly, which we all know is dominated by the traditional “establishment”. Because Obi will lack deep legislative majority or entrenched institutional control over the state apparatus, he would likely find himself completely isolated.
If he refuses to "join them" by participating in the deeply entrenched system of political patronage, horse-trading, and corruption, the establishment will systematically frustrate his agenda. They would block his budgets, reject his ministerial nominees, stall his bills, and maybe potentially weaponise impeachment proceedings against him. Ultimately, his Presidency could become an exercise in gridlock, where he is unable to pass reforms or enforce policies, proving that ‘clean intentions’ alone cannot overcome a hostile, deeply rooted (corrupt) political machinery.

The foolishness of “olodo uprising”

“It is easier to criticize than to do better." (French Proverb)
Psychology shows that ‘chronic complaining’ rarely comes from a desire to fix a problem; it stems from a need for control, validation, or an outlet for personal frustration. When it comes to internet culture, this manifests as a specific type of "armchair criticism."
It is easy to look at certain Nigerian influencers and label their content as unintelligent, unproductive, or outright foolish. But tearing them down doesn't make the critic an intellectual. In fact, many of the people loudest in calling these creators "fools"(or olodo) are simply using it as an easy shortcut to pretend they are intelligent themselves.
It takes zero effort to mock low-effort content, and doing so gives the critic a false sense of superiority. If a creator’s content is truly unproductive, the intelligent response is to ignore it, or create something better—not to use them as a pedestal to look smart while contributing absolutely nothing to the conversation. Let me end this with even more proverbs: "If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
The Golden Rule for Chronic Complainers:
"Never find a fault without a remedy."Geoffrey Chaucer

Obi is not a visionary?

Immediately after the results and all about the 2023 elections, Obi should have formed his own political party immediately. Getting close to winning means he had great following. Infact, a lot of people believed he won that election, that is how popular he was. Peter Obi had the political capital and intense youth backing (the "Obidient" movement) necessary to fundamentally found a brand-new, ideologically distinct political party. Obi’s political career is defined by jumping into existing, often compromised structures for short-term electoral convenience rather than doing the hard work of institutional building. He left APGA for the PDP, dumped the PDP for the Labour Party in 2022, exited the Labour Party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in early 2026, and quickly abandoned the ADC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 cycle. Some will call this political prostitution, while others will be more civil and call it political nomad. A visionary would have institutionalized the "Obidient" movement into a structured, independent party with a clear ideological foundation. Obi could have used the opportunity to distinguish himself from the old guard, by creating a new youth movement (political party). He lay his destiny in the hands of others instead of taking it into his own hands. Finally, by getting in bed with the already existing political parties (6 so far), it smells of doing “deals”.

Maybe to prohibit anyone from all forests in Nigeria?

Is this a good idea that all forests in Nigeria should be designated banned for all. No trespassing, property of FGN.

Obi doesn’t seem to know what he is talking about on electricity in Nigeria.

We have installed capacity of 13000MW, and can only distribute 3000MW. Meanwhile, Peter Obi is on about increasing capacity by 10000MW, instead of discussing the “how” the power can get to the people. When asked how he was going to do it, he had no answer. Anyway, increasing capacity is a waste because it will be useless if it can’t get to Nigerian homes, schools, hospitals, organizations etc. The real issue is the gigantuan infrastructure project to lay cables all about this massive country of over 200 million people so that electricity can get to them. More transformers and more meters are also what are needed, not increasing capacity.

6 years and only 1 term in office? Poll below

As you may know that this is being debated; whether we should adopt a new system where the elected posts are for one term, and lasts for 6 years only, or we remain with 4 years and 2 terms. The argument is that 4 years might not be enough to make meaningful impact, or complete programs and projects that are initiated, but 6 years is the sweet spot where there can be no excuse. This can also mean 6 long years of a bad government? In 12 years, you have 2 elections instead of 3, which saves money also.
So let us know what you think with this poll:

What is Peter Obi’s political ideology?

All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA): Obi's foundational party, which he joined to run for governor of Anambra State in the early 2000s. Its political philosophy is built on social welfarism, federalism, and the regional protection of Igbo interests. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP): He joined the PDP in 2014 and served as its vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 general election. The PDP's platform is grounded in social liberalism, civic nationalism, and economic policies that historically favor deregulation and a free market.
Labour Party (LP): He defected to the Labour Party in 2022 to launch his 2023 presidential campaign. The party's ideology is rooted in social democracy, democratic socialism, and labor welfarism, prioritizing workers' rights, accessible public services, and the redistribution of wealth.
African Democratic Congress (ADC): He briefly joined the ADC in early 2026 before exiting shortly after due to internal organizational disputes. The ADC operates on principles of progressive liberalism, emphasizing institutional reform, youth/women inclusivity, and transparent governance.
Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC): He joined the NDC in mid-2026 and emerged as the party's confirmed presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. The NDC anchors its political philosophy on civic nationalism, anti-corruption, and strict institutional accountability aimed at dismantling systemic "criminality" in government.
These are 5 different ideologies, some of which are opposing ideologies? Does this constant movement not show that Peter Obi is not a solid rock to stand on? Does it not show that Peter Obi is not mentally strong to be President of Nigeria? Does it not show that Peter Obi has no ideology, therefore, no mission or vision, or guiding principles on how he will rule Nigeria if he wins the Presidential elections?

Turkey meat with Yaji

The turkey meat was seasoned for about 2 hours and placed in the oven. We don’t fry meat, poultry or fish as we realised that it turns out better (more healthy) when baked. Yaji from the Mai-Suya with red onions (that its good against cancer). Not a health freak, but when I hear something is good for health, I find it hard not to follow.

The “Shame Debt” of Liberation: Leon Festinger’s Theory and the Psychology of South African Xenophobia.

The toxic friction between South Africa and foreign nationals—especially Nigerians—presents a painful puzzle. During Apartheid, nations like Nigeria spent millions, offered asylum, and backed South Africa's liberation. Yet today, that historical solidarity has curdled into intense afrophobia, or Nijaphobia.
Why do people turn on those who helped them? The answer goes past simple economics and dives into deep collective trauma and a brilliant psychological concept from *Leon Festinger*.

  1. The Festinger Effect: Resenting the Benefactor.
In 1957, social psychologist Leon Festinger, introduced the “Theory of Cognitive Dissonance”, the psychological discomfort we feel when holding two conflicting realities.
When applied to societies, a brutal truth emerges: RECEIVING HELP CREATES A SHAME DEBT
When a nation is deeply traumatized by history and continues to struggle with massive systemic poverty, the presence of the former benefactor becomes a walking trigger. It serves as a constant, subconscious reminder of past dependency and current failure.
To escape this agonizing internal conflict, the collective psyche resorts to a radical defense mechanism: it converts a sense of inadequacy into rage. By reframing the former helper as a threat or a criminal, the ego artificially restores its own sense of pride and superiority.
  2. Traumatic Displacement & Scapegoating:
Decades of institutionalized oppression left deep, unhealed psychological scars on black South Africa's collective psyche. When a traumatized population faces immense modern frustration (high unemployment, broken political promises), that psychological energy *must* go somewhere.
Psychologists call this *displacement*. Because the primary targets of frustration (government corruption or historic white monopoly capital) feel too massive or untouchable to fight, the rage is redirected toward a highly visible, vulnerable target: fellow black Africans, especially boisterous Nigerians.
  3. The "Narcissism of Minor Differences"
Compounding this trauma is what Sigmund Freud termed the *narcissism of minor differences*. It explains why groups who are actually very similar culturally and historically often attack each other the hardest.
When a highly confident, entrepreneurial immigrant group (like Nigerians) thrives in an environment where locals feel systemically trapped and powerless, it triggers a painful psychological mirror. The success of another African dismantles the excuse of structural limitations, making the local trauma feel even more acute.
    -The Bottom Line-
Xenophobia here is a psychological coping mechanism for an unhealed society. When a people are starved of the prosperity they fought for, the collective psyche misdirects its trauma outward—transforming a historical debt of gratitude into a modern weapon of resentment.

29 or 31 State Governors are APC???

Hello my people, are Peter Obi’s supporters not deluded? Are most of the very loud people all about Peter Obi not keyboard warriors, internet and social media boffins? Let’s remember that the people who don’t mind going to line up under the sun and vote for their preferred candidates are majorly very local folks??? If APC governors occupy 29 or 31 of the 36 states, how does Peter Obi have hope??? Please don’t curse or talk rubbish, be objective and intelligent in your response. Thanks
