One frame philosophy comics

Would love some input on a new project I'm considering.

It's a vagabond mouse bard and a dragon princess who travel together and talk about life and stuff. One character ponders a deep question for a few lines over a few frames, then the other one answers for a few frames.

The idea is that each frame stands alone, but they all also go together in a sequence. Imagine if there were 100 "pages", they would form a coherent story.

I want the amount of text to be quite small for each page, but I'm a little uncertain of how far I can push it before seeing just a single frame out of context would not provide the reader with anything significant. Do you think something as simple as "Try giving a really deep listen to your own mind sometime.  " could stand on its own with a nice compossition?

Would also love tips on similar comics that try to say a lot with a little.

Hermes totally took Aphrodite air dancing, between the realms of mortal and divine [OC]

Since the copies we have of the myths are just the ones that survived from some of the countless poets and artists that told the stories of the gods, I’d like to officially present something to be considered for addition to the mythos of Hermes and Aphrodite:

When they courted, Hermes totally took her for a wondrous flight along and across the borders between mount Olympos, Hades and the mortal realm. What we call Aurora borealis is them canoodling across the skies. (I’m from scandinavia, gotta add some local flavour after all)

Everything I do is in pursuit of Company Appreciation Tokens

New thing we're playing around with in our cleaning game A Corporate Machine. You earn "Company Appreciation Tokens" for doing your job, then you can use them to open new areas.

We've been working on "A Corporate Machine" for a while, but MAN are we bad at showing what we're actually doing 😅

We're 5 experienced devs, picked godo because we're tired if big corpo game dev + we were impressed with the engine.

Here's some gameplay from the current state of the demo, enjoy!

Mr Witch of the Forest and his research assistant Blueberry, character designs and story format idea

Curious people send them letters asking about different magical creatures. They go on a field trip and investigate the creatures in question, then return with the answer. If there’s one to be found! Each story ends with them writing and sending a return letter to the question asker.

Would love to hear what people think of the concept! What would you expect from this type of story, what would make you roll your eyes? Grateful for any feedback!

Drawing based on a dream I had

I always wake up remembering a bunch of dreams, even if they fade from my mind if I don’t write them down or spend some time reflecting on them.

Despite how much time I spend thinking about Hermes, I’ve only dreamt of him a handful of times. The first Hermes dream I had was around fifteen years ago, and it’s definitely among the dreams I recall the most vividly, to this day.

In the dream, I don’t remember how I got there, but I was in an old city. Hermes was in front of me, and there was a bowl of water at his feet. I was kneeling, and dipped my face into the water, because it felt right. Then there was a more playful sequence where I had winged sandals and ran across rooftops, stealing a jewel haha! But the part with the bowl of water is what stood out the most.

Anyway, this illustration is based on that dream. Hoping for more Hermes dreams in the future!

Another disco Elysium self portrait (oc)

My discosona would be one of the precinct guys you hear over the radio, or perhaps a business man in the bar who talks about art.

Who’d your discosona be? What would they be doing?

Our boy with his lady! I feel they go really well together. Occasional lovers, sure. But mainly friends and allies in most things. That's how I see them together, at least.

Emphasised Hermes' mage aspect in his design (one of my favourites), and lots of warrior in Aphrodite.

u/flyboyelm — 2 months ago

I love these two! Here's my designs for them.

I emphasised Hermes' mage aspect, and Aphrodite's warrior aspect. I think those parts of them are really interesting, and should be explored more in general.

I love these two, enjoy my takes on them! I feel like they are very closley allied in many things.

Hermes has perhaps a bit more of the mage in him than how he's usually depicted. And with Aphrodite I emphasised her warrior aspect.

I don't know exactly where this sketch of Aphrodite and Hermes is going to go, but I'm having fun with it.

What's going on with their outfits? I haven't really decided yet!

With Aphrodite I'm thinking Innana, warrior aspects of her. Or maybe she's cosplaying Innana, or sailor moon or something haha! Of course she's also based on the first breathtaking woman I ever saw, but that's always the case.

Hermes is kind of cosplaying Jesus, or a Hermetic philosopher. Note that he's got some magician in him, an aspect I find to be one of his most interesting, as well as too often overlooked. (He also accidentaly is heading towards looking a lot like Gale from BG3 lol). I can say for sure that there's some Mat Cauthon in him though.

Anyway, the core idea is them at the battlefront for the fate of humanity, or something like that. It feels that these two count to those who would be amongst humanity's first defenders.
