Fall vegetable garden prep

I had success with some summer veggies but recently culled everything as the heat and pests were getting beyond my ability to control, and I wanted a fresh start to prepare for the next growing season. I have plans for lots of root veg (carrots, beets, turnips, radishes, garlic, shallots), greens (spinach, kale), herbs (dill, cilantro, parsley), and bush beans. My empty beds are being topped up with fresh compost and I am trying to time out the planting of these things, as almost all are direct-sown.

I've seen conflicting information - for example, I've seen posts encouraging sowing carrots and bush beans in mid to late August in central texas, but other resources like the A&M fall planting guide say the average planting date for carrots is in November.

This time of year (August-Sept), if you've given up on summer tomatoes/peppers/eggplant/okra, what are you up to in the garden? Are you sowing some root vegetables early? Are you putting new summer starts in the garden for another harvest before the first frost?

When does it get better?

I'm coming up on 10 months since losing my soul cat of 14 years. Whenever I think of her, I can only recall the pain and devastation of her final few days. When I see other people with a clear deep bond with their animals, I break down crying because I know what kind of agony is in store for them one day. I have a hard time looking at photos of my baby and I have a hard time remembering any of the good times. It is horrible to think that the love wasnt worth the loss, that I am changed for having known and loved her but not for the better - I have to spend the rest of my days knowing that the best is behind me. I am a shell of who I was.

I want to remember her fondly. I want my memories to bring comfort and joy. She would want that for me. But all they bring is pain, guilt, and a renewed commitment to never fall in love again.

Long Center Drop In

This question is for people who have attended a drop-in concert at the Long Center! How strict are they about outside food and drinks (non-alcoholic)? I assume they at least allow bottled water? Seems a shame I can't bring an agua fresca when its 95°+ outside

Strength training, cardio, mobility - can I have it all? Not sure how to structure my weekly split.

EDIT: Wow, the feedback in the comments has been phenomenal. Thank you all so much for your words of wisdom and for sharing your own strategies! There are so many good options listed here!

I'm in my early 30s and have had a relatively inconsistent relationship with fitness over the last decade. I've had periods of up to 6 months of consistent at-home workouts (youtube cardio and yoga vids, dumbbell workouts 5-20lbs) but have never really progressed past what I'd consider the "beginner" stage.

I want to be well-rounded. I want mobility, I want cardio for heart health, I want to strength train for ALL the benefits muscle provides. But when I add it all up, it feels like too much to fit into a given week:

Upper body x2

Lower body x2

Core x2

Cardio x2

Yoga/mobility x1-2

I feel like I can't have it all. How do you structure your split? I feel like people tack on cardio and core to strength training days. If you do that, how long are your workouts on those days? What do your cardio and core and mobility practices look like? How to avoid overuse injuries?

I should also mention that I've had a few minor injuries (which I didn't see a doctor for), including left shoulder (rotator cuff?) pain last year and I'm currently nursing my left ankle after what I think was an impingement 3ish weeks ago. These have been short-lived pains. I mention this because I am currently incorporating a "shoulder prehab" routine 2 days per week to strengthen my rotator cuffs, which adds to my split structuring predicament. I also consistently struggle with shin splints every time I run or jump and want to work on strengthening my anterior tibialis, which will also add time to my workout schedule. To be clear, I am not asking for specific medical advice in this post. Just time management for all the modalities mentioned above, sometimes including prehab/rehab exercises.

Eyebrows - experiences with permanent makeup (microblanding, nanoblading, powder brows) or tinting?

My left eyebrow is in rough shape after years of pulling, and it doesnt help that I've got dirty blonde hair so many of my remaining hairs (and other brow) are on the lighter side. I draw it on with a brow pencil but I'm not very good at it. Has anyone gotten brow tinting done (or done it themselves at home), or taken the leap to permanent makeup/tattooing? Were you happy with the immediate results and how is it holding up now?

Alternatively, any tips for brow makeup products or techniques?
