Steam Download Speed 1-10% of Actual Download Speed
CPU: Intel i7-12700KF
GPU: Radeon RX 9070
RAM: 32GB DDR5 5600mHz
Storage: 2x 2TB Samsung NVME SSDs
I'm running into a problem where steam is downloading games between 1 and 5MB/s. I tried downloading BF1 through EAPlay and am getting between 50-60MB/s down. I've been trying to figure out why steam specifically is kneecapped but none of the solutions I found have helped at all. I have gigabit internet, so that should not be the limiting factor.
Steps already tried:
- Making sure download throttling is off.
- Changing download servers (I'm currently in Dallas and have tried every single continental US server, the UK servers and even Australia with little to no speed changes)
- Disabling Ipv6
- Setting manual DNS and flushing
- Swapping to ethernet connection from wifi
- Whitelisting both steampowered.com and steamcommunity.com in my router settings.
- Made sure both wifi and ethernet adapters in device manager have power settings correct.
- Made sure disk write speed is fast enough to keep up with internet.
Edit: posting ookla speedtest results in comments.
Looking for things to do
Quick background: my girlfriend and I live full time in Montana (we're used to a much cooler and drier climate) but are visiting my parents who live in Richardson for the next month. What are some activities/things to do in the area for a couple of 23 year olds?
I will have access to fishing gear while there, so if there are any good spots nearby to fish then please let me know.
We're both pretty outdoorsy, but find the heat to be unbearable for most outdoor activities that require more movement than fishing. We're not heavy drinkers by any means, but also aren't sober so are definitely down to check out bars and other alcohol-adjacent activities.
Thank you in advance!
Edit: more details that should've been included.
Motherboard (BIOS) Updates and Resizable BAR
Hello all,
I recently discovered I was a massive dumbass and never enabled ReBAR for my 3090. My current GPUs firmware is updated to a version that supports ReBAR but it appears my mobo BIOS is out of date. Is it worth installing a new bios to unlock ReBAR or should I stay course without? I've read it can be a pain in the ass installing a new motherboard BIOS so want to make sure it's worth the effort.
Thank you in advance!
