After weeks of trial and error, here is the finished version of Carlos the Tinkerer's head.
I decided against using stickers for the eye outlines because it was getting too tedious trying to get them to work and went with paint strokes instead, and I think they work a lot better. But I feel like its done. All that is left to do is some polishing and adding some details like a strap for the goggles. I'll definitely be taking a little break after this.
Finally nailed down the head shape, for real this time. As well as change up the horns, frills, and goggles, while also adding details in his mouth. I'll try to redo the shape of his eyes but minus additional details I feel Carlos' head is almost complete.
I'd really like to thank the Dreams community for all the tips and advice given during this. I will definitely not be doing any more changes to his head shape from here on, but if anyone has any ideas on changing up his head's features, horns frill etc. feel free to share them. Btw the neck is just there for reference.
PS. If anyone is wondering why the first half of the pictures has no front facing pose with his mouth closed and goggles off, its because I accidentally deleted the photo while cleaning up files in my flash drive.
Anyone have any tips on how to sculpt simple steampunk style goggles?
reddit.comI might go ahead and buy a new VR headset someday but, what is the best model to get on a budget and where?
reddit.comFinal version of Carlos's head, hopefully. I think I need to reposition his horns, and I'd like some advice on making better looking steampunk goggles, also is there a way to use slightly transparent stickers as something like glass? If there are ways to make other slight changes, do tell.
I'm using the Oculus Rift S and one of the latest updates has caused a very irritating issue. Whenever I'm playing a game and I need to remove my headset for longer than a minute, the Meta app pops up and I'm no longer able to get back into my game, forcing me to reset the headset or program.
reddit.comI'd like to add black outlines to my character's eyes, similar to 3D cartoons. Should I use stickers or just spray paint them?
reddit.comUsing Occulus Rift 2 for Steam VR and the latest update seems to have messed some things up. Everything starts out fine until I put my headset down for a minute, then the darn Meta app opens up forcing me to restart Steam VR and whatever game I was playing. Its extremely annoying!
reddit.comWhen is Success at any Cost really releasing on store shelves? They said it would be July 5th, but me and my family have been searching for it for days and its only out of stock preorders.
reddit.comUpdate from my previous post, I updated the new version of Carlos' head anything I can do differently?
Progress on the updated Carlos the Kobold model, would like some feedback. The frills, eyebrows, and horns are not finished yet, currently working on the head shape.
The first 2 photos are the new model.
Is there a way to make a Dream you made public private?
reddit.comFarming in Darkmoor (World), where is everyone?
Trying to farm Darkmoor gear, but there no one farming any of the dungeons with the good gear anymore. Am I missing something? Where is everyone? And no it's not because of the new boss in Marleybone, this has been happening before the current update.
Artist's block driving me crazy!
I'm trying to get into 3D modeling in hopes of making my own indie game someday, but my dumb self confidence, ADHD, and my obsession with making it perfect is constantly getting in the way! Whenever I try to make a character's head, it never looks right to me and I end up deleting it. When I tell myself I need to get around to practicing modeling I keep getting distracted, all the while my inner voice just tells me that it will never work and that its not worth trying. Eventually it all leads to a serious mood swing where I just lash out at myself for being unable to do something that a lot of people seem to find easy, and sometimes I'll just stupidly blame the world for something that's my own fault. What's worse is that even my drawing skills suffer from these same problems. I've always felt more confident drawing on pencil and paper, but when I try to do anything else or if I see other pieces of character art, I lose all confidence. I really want to do art, I want to share the stories in my head with everyone, but I constantly feel like I'm just never good enough. I can feel like something is holding me back but I just can't shake it off.
Redesigning Carlos and I'd like some tips on how to do the "frills/scales" on the sides of his head. I'd also like tips on how to make a separate lower jaw for making expressions.
I was not really satisfied with his current design and thought I'd make some major improvements, with some advise from the community. Also as a side note I might try to private the one currently in dreamsurfing. It was left unfinished due to burnout.
Possible dumb question, is it efficient to make a character model, then add its logic in a separate element?
To clarify, I want to take the character model I already made, copy it as another element then add the logic to the copy. If this is a bad idea then that's fine I won't do it.
Need help making logic for the basic attack for my 3D platformer.
I'm trying to make it similar to games like A Hat in Time where the character has a 2 hit swinging combo that repeats without interruption when you spam the attack button.
Looking to trade 2 Fuecoco for both Sprigatito and Quaxly
reddit.comI'm using stickers as my character's eye irises, however I'm having difficulties trying to keyframe their positions.
First I made one eye and its sticker, then copied and horizontal flipped the eye for proper symmetry. The problem is that for some reason the sticker on the copied eye does not record properly. First when I try to move the sticker, the sticker will move slightly out of position, then when I let go of the sticker the sticker gadget flips 180 degrees making the sticker itself disappear, and no matter how many times I rotate the gadget it flips back to the same position. The original eye and sticker work just find its just when I copy the eye that problems happen. I tried just making the other eye and sticker from scratch, and that was the only way to get it to work.
